View Full Version : Stepping Into The Unknown.

Tomorrow (Friday) I'm going into work and handing My notice in to quit.

I've not fallen out with the Boss. Not had any arguements with the Women there. Nor am i particularly fed up with My Job.

The reason being is this.

Since Christmas i'm lucky if i get ten hours work a week. By the time i take Petrol (Gas) costs out. Plus lunch etc. What i can take home a WEEK is what DH can earn in 20 MINUTES. :bbeek:

So i'm stepping into the unknown and staying at home to keep house. And guess what else...............

Sell stuff on eBay!!!

Yep, the eBay Queen has cleared the attic of a zillion boxes of "Stuff" and the contents are selling. So far We've sold ten items and made more profit from that than i can ever make working.

If i get bored with eBay. (Which is highly unlikely as i almost live there LOL). I also have the opportunity to go back to another Hotel where i worked a couple of years ago. The Job starts in a months time.

That job is more hours than what i'm doing now. Plus it's right down the road. (If i stood on My roof i can see the Hotel from Home). So no Petrol costs there. Plus it's total flexi. If eBay kicks off then i can stay home full time. Or just phone them up the night before and ask for a few hours. Just to stop Me going completely square-eyed from the Internet.

Best of both worlds. No travel apart from on foot to Work when i feel like it. Or to the Post Office which is across the road to post My Parcels.

DH was the one who came up with the idea.

It's got to the point where working is costing more money to do than i'm earning. Plus We get to clear the attic of years of hoarding.

Or as DH's mate said. "Tell the Mrs to stay home and leave her £10 a day on the side. You'd still be quids in"

eBay here i come. :)

Taking risks is what makes life more interesting and making some changes can really improve life. Wish you good luck with eBay and hope you'll make a lot of money.

Sounds good, now if you could just get over here and convince my FH it's a great idea. We're pretty much in the same boat, I work PT as an editor and make in a week what he makes a day. And I drive 15 minutes to work and eat lunch out, so I'm not even making that. Good luck with the ebay!!

Good luck, Mitch! Since you'll be home, does this mean we'll have you around even more often? :) I hope so!

It'll all be fine - sometimes a change of scenery makes all the difference in the world. And who doesn't love a new adventure?

I handed My notice in. And the Boss wouldn't accept it. :bbeek:

She said She didn't want to lose such a "Valued Worker" (yeah right lol) And that the Hotel Trade is starting to pick up and the Hours will become available.

So i told them to give Me Two Months to make some serious dosh on eBay. They are keeping My Job open for Me to return after Two Months if i want to go back.

With so many Projects on the go at the moment. eBay, Dolls Houses, Spring coming and the Garden screaming at Me. I'll see what happens.

Either way i wont be "Out Of Work"

I'm looking on this time as a Two Month "Vocation Vacation"

They wouldn't accept it!?! They must love you there.

Looks like you have the best possible situation, in that you have the two months to do what you want, and worse comes to worse, when it picks up, you are not unemployed.

One of the Girls from work came round last night for Dinner.
She started sobbing and asking what She's going to do without Me working there. She gets in a bit of a tizzy when the Guests start arriving and the rooms aren't ready in time. So She shouts Me to sort it out because i'm the "Calm Organised One" (Yeah right lol. I'm like a Duck on a Pond. All calm on top, but kicking like an idiot under the water LOL)

I told Her to stop being a daftie. I'm only going to the Spare Bedroom for a few Months. Not bloody Australia.

BTW just checked eBay. Another Two Items sold and made Me "Two Weeks Wages"

Kerching!!!!

Last day at work Today. :ura1:

I got a card from the Girls and a shopping voucher. My daft Boss thought i was leaving Yesterday. :bbeek:

I've worked there for over Two Years. And only just found out the start of the working week is a FRIDAY. So i could have gone Yesterday. DOH!!!!

Hey-ho. I'll still honour My Contract. My notice did say Todays date as a leaving date.

The 22 Year Old i work with (Some of You may remember a Wedding Vent about Her and Her Mum) has also handed Her notice in. She is going back to Her old Job. So they will be Two Staff down from Next Week. The Boss has said She will be replacing the 22 Year Old. But still keeping My Job open if i choose to return.

Feel the Lurve. Feel the Lurve

I am so pleased for you, Mitch! It's nice to hear that everything is going so well. And two weeks wages on Ebay! Rock on! Just goes to show, even in tough times, one man's 'trash' is another man's 'treasure'. Go you for being astute enough to recognize that and turn it to your advantage.
