I'm considering a small destination wedding in the rocky mountain of colorado.
Is there anyone else doing a mountain wedding?

No, but I've seen lots of pictures and read lots of reviews.
By the way, your wedding date is the same as our dating anniversary date! (April 8)

*hehe* Our dating anniversary is April 11th; we wanted to get married as close to that day as we could :)
If you need help finding local vendors, you might could check the OneWed.com vendor directory - http://www.onewed.com/weddings/CO/index.html

AWESOME!!! Well, I had a small destination wedding (16 people) on the beach, BUT I live really close to all the mountain towns. I would look into Breckenridge :) Are you wanting something outside? At a hotel? What are ya thinkin, and when?

I'm thinking probably late next summer, outside. I'm thinking RMNP (because it's cheapest) and having a nice dinner with fam and close friends in estes park or somewhere
RMNP and Estes Park are beautiful! You really can't go wrong there! We go at least once a year...it's one of our favorite places to escape for a long weekend. I know there are also some venues located in Allenspark, CO which close is to Estes Park.

What's the weather and how crowded is it in August? If you have venue suggestions, that would be great!
I have never been there in August, but according to weather.com the average temperatures in the summer are in the 70-80 range. I do know it gets pretty crowded there in the summer (which is why we usually go in the winter or spring) but I'm sure if you book early enough, you won't have any problems.
I've seen or been to several places on this list, including the Stanley Hotel, Estes Park Condos (actually stayed there on our last Estes Park trip), Mary's Lake, Taharaa Mountain Lodge, and Wild Basin (which is the one in Allenspark). I don't know what kind of theme or "look" you are going for, but I may be able to help you narrow it down a bit just based on what I've seen driving by, or visiting these places. :winktongue:

Oh, and I haven't actually been to RMNP but what are some of the more favorite scenic spots there? I'm thinking of having the ceremony on Sprague lake, would that be a good location? How far is the dock from the picnic tables, and do you know if we are able to bring cake/sparkling cider to the picnic area right after?
