So for those that don't want kids or just don't want them now; what are you doing to prevent an unwanted pregnancy?

I'm on the pill. I had to switch brands a couple of times, but for the most part, it has served me well these past five years of cohabitation and marriage with DH!

I'm on the pill and have been for eight years. I hope to get off of it in a couple of years. I want my sex drive back, dammit!

You are so lucky! I want Chris to have one after we have kids, but he says no.

I've been on the pill now for 5 years, probably will be another 3 which will be around the time we want kids.

Right now we're using the pill and condoms. I really hope to get off the pill once we're married and use condoms and natural family planning. I hate being on the pill.

I'm on the pill...just started my 2nd week of being on it. I dont want kids right now, and that is definitely the last thing on my mind.
FH and I have not had "relations" like that since we have been engaged and don't plan to until our wedding night. I am a little apprehensive about relying just on the pill though, but I don't like condoms---they just rub me raw!

Sometimes I worry about that too, but I've been on the pill for eight years and haven't gotten pregnant. I hate condoms too and I'm pretty sure hubby does. The lubricated ones dry out quickly; I'm all about natural lube! :)

Just the BCP. We've pretty much decided that a baby will be in our plans, but definitely not at 24 years old. I'll probably stop taking the pill in another 4 years or so.

I have been on the pill for the last 2 1/2 years and I hate them. haha
I plan on stopping them after the wedding and just using condoms until we start trying to get pregnant (probably around February 2010).
Ah. I can't wait to get off these things! lol

I'm on an extended birth control. Only get visits from mother nature 4 times a year. I actually really love it. The first week or so I was on it, it was horrible because it's got a high hormone level, even the placebos have hormones in them so I don't get PMS-y when it's that time. My chest got a little bigger, I feel slightly more hungry than I used to, but no really negative side affects.
I'm not sure when I'll go off of it. DH has been talking about babies lately...I think it's because he's deploying. But I'm pretty sure I'm not quite yet ready for a baby. I'd like to wait 3-5 years before actively trying. If for some reason it happens before then, I'm sure I'll switch to mommy mode and be excited and everything. But there are just lots of things I'd like to do first without children.

I've had two Miscarriages over the years. DH has Four Daughters. So We don't plan on having any Children.
Due to an irregular cycle and various other issues. I had a Endometrial Ablation. It's where the lining of the womb is burnt away. It affects fertility and lightens monthlies to almost zilch.
There is a very slim possiblity i can get Pregnant but it would have to be aborted to save My life because the Fetus attaches like a parasite.
Not very pleasant i know. But it's one step towards a full Hysterectomy which i plan on eventually.
I just wanted to be able to live life a bit better than before the operation. And at the time it was the easiest option.
As long as the Doctor takes away the Nursery but leaves the Playground.

I had a complete and total hysterectomy when I was 35, but I had decided I was done having babies by then anyway. I had a lot of pain from all the various problems I had over the years. At the point they actually did the thing, I had five separate medical issues going on including ovarian cysts with torsion of the ovaries, fluid buildup in fallopian tubes for unknown reason, an intramural leiomyoma, irregular and very heavy periods.
You hear a lot of women go on about feeling less a woman or not being a whole woman after hysterectomies, but to tell the truth I've never felt anything but relief. In fact, if I had known it would improve my life this much, I'd have thrown that hysie much much earlier is what I always joke. Then again I already had two children and my eldest was into her early teens by the time I had it done, so I was rather busy to worry too much.
I do take hormone replacement therapy because I was so young when I had the procedure done. I know there was a lot about that being bad for women a few years ago, but I have no other major risk factors for any of that and am in excellent health. I also don't have any history of most of that stuff in my family. They've pretty much all lived into their late 80s or 90s and been pretty healthy the whole way.
