View Full Version : Holy moly! 13 year old daddy
This is crazy... take a look at this article!
pics and story here (http://%3Cbr%20/%3E%0Ahttp://thisis50.ning.com/profiles/blogs/babyfaced-boy-becomes-a-father)
Boy dad Alfie Patten yesterday admitted he does not know how much nappies cost — but said: “I think it’s a lot.”
Baby-faced Alfie, who is 13 but looks more like eight, became a father four days ago when his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne.
He told how he and Chantelle, 15, decided against an abortion after discovering she was pregnant.
The shy lad, whose voice has not yet broken, said: “I thought it would be good to have a baby.
“I didn’t think about how we would afford it. I don’t really get pocket money. My dad sometimes gives me $10.”
Alfie, who is just 4ft tall, added: “When my mum found out, I thought I was going to get in trouble. We wanted to have the baby but were worried how people would react.
“I didn’t know what it would be like to be a dad. I will be good, though, and care for it.”
Alfie’s dad Dennis told how the lad does not really understand the enormity of his situation — but seemed desperate to be a devoted and responsible father.
“He said I should tell my mum but I was too scared.
“We didn’t think we would need help from our parents. You don’t really think about that when you find out you are pregnant. You just think your parents will kill you.”
Alfie’s dad, who is separated from Nicola, believes the lad is scared deep down.
“When you mention money his eyes look away. And she is reliant on her mum and dad. It’s crazy. They have no idea what lies ahead.”

Yep that's the UK.
Well it turns out that THREE other Lads have stepped forward to say they could be the Father. :bbeek::bbeek:
Plus there are at least anoter FIVE who have slept with the Young Mum but are out of the running for the Father Title. :bbeek: They slept with Her before or after conception.
They are about to do a DNA Test on all those concerned.
I first saw a photo of the "Father" Yesterday in the Papers here. He does look about 8 Years Old.
Heaven help them.
Wow... I heard as soon as I posted it that there are others that could be the father. What is that girl DOING!

That 15 yr old girl has slept with that many guys?!
... it is sad when things like this happen *shakes head*

To me the absurdity is how common it is. My 7th grade gym class tried to get together a baby shower for our classmate that got pregnant that year. (I guess we were all 12 or 13). I think the thing that upsets me the most are the ones who end up with multiple kids by the time they are 18!

I seen this on a news website the other day and couldnt believe it. When I seen the picture it honestly looked like a brother welcoming his baby sister (which I think was said on the website that I looked at, by the reporter as well). I have siblings that are that age, and its like seriously?
I know at that age the *last* thing on my mind was sex. Very last thing. I was to into sports/video games etc.
I feel bad for the baby brought into the situation. You would llike to think that they could be good parents, but its hard to be optimistic when he father is only 13.

That is so sad. I agree, where are the parents?! I hope that somebody's parents adopt the baby and take it out of the kid's hands.
A girl I went to school had a baby at 14. At 21, she's going to parent teacher conferences...not where I want to be at 21!!

He didn't think he'd need his parents' help? Heck I had my daughter a month before I turned 18 and I was married, but we still needed our parents' help! Having a child is expensive! The daycare costs alone would of killed us if we wouldn't of had our parents helping out by babysitting!

I'll be praying for that baby. :( What a sad situation.. Why the hell was he even doing these things at *12*?!

I honestly and truly didn't know how to make a baby when I was 13. When I found out about the whole sex process, probably about 14 or 15, I was SHOCKED and grossed out and wanted nothing to do with it.
I second Brandi's comment - poor kids - all 3 of them.
At least his dad sometimes gives him $10...that was the part that killed me the most. This kid has no idea.

I never noticed the $10 bit. Quick conversion to UK Sterling and that wont even buy a packet of Pampers. :bbeek:
My Eldest Step-Daughter had Her Son at 16. The Father was 20 but He works and provides everything they need. Treats and extras are provided by DH and Myself and Her Mum. She also went back to Her studies and passed all Her Exams with honours. Once Grandson is in Full-Time School She plans to go to College.
Bringing up a Child at any age is tough. DH was 20 When He had His First Daughter and 20 Years later We are still paying. (Not that We begrudge them a penny)
The UK is trying to gets Kids to stay in School until they are 18. (Leaving age here is 16).
At this rate it will never happen.
If Kids are in School until 18. Who will they get to pick up their kids from Nursery.

The latest on this sorry saga is the Girls Mother knows the 13 year old isn't the Dad. And that they went along with it because it sells more stories.
Apparently, the entire Family has made Thousands of Pounds from Media deals etc. Because at 13 the Boy is "Britains Youngest Dad"
It sure gets stranger by the minute. And now the Social Services are involved.

Seriously. What is wrong with people? So they are making money off of this by publishing it in how many magazines. This boy's life is potentially ruined! What parent is going to let their young daughter go out with him when he is already sexually active at 13!

I saw this story back in Feb on TV. I too thought he was 7 or 8. Those poor kids really dont know what they have gotten themselves into. And he still has a few years before he can even get a job.
And what is this about the other potential fathers? WOW! Most adults dont even go through things like this.
Mitch, we need an update lady!

It's all gone quiet about this story at the moment. I guess DNA testing takes a while longer when Maury isn't involved LMAO.
All the Newspapers here are printing stories about Jade Goody dying of Cancer. (27 Year Old reality TV star) So for some reason the world has stopped turning. :whyme:

Found out Yesterday that the 13 year old is NOT the Father of the Baby.
DNA Tests are now going on with the other "Fathers" :bbeek:
The 13 Year Olds Dad (Who has been speaking to the Press since the story broke) Said He told His Son to take a DNA to stop all the rumours. Thinking that it would all be OK and they could sell the story to the higest bidder.
The poor boy didn't even know what a DNA test involved and burst into tears thinking it was needles or something.
So bang goes that "Claim to fame" of being Britains Youngest Dad.
What a sad series of events.

It's very disconcerting to see that boy's face has he holds the baby close. And even more so to see mom and him together.
What goes through the mind of that girl to think that having sex with a 13 year old is a good idea? a baby-faced one at that?
When I was 15 I would've NEVER looked twice at a boy 2 years younger than me.

I'm sometimes the same way, only I'm eight year older :P
I wouldn't have looked at someone 2 years younger then me when I was 15 neither. That's just crazy - and that the baby's not even his now I'll betchya he feels like c***.

I hope that the biological father is older (but not too much older, shudder) and is better able to take care of his new responsibilities.
And I hope that this experience teaches the 13 y.o. boy a little something about responsibility too, so that he doesn't knock up some girl 3 or 4 years from now.
There are 16 and 17 year old fathers all the time, sadly. And this kid isn't that far from there, unless he's learned something from this experience, which I certainly hope he has.

I hope it scares the tar out of him and that hes doesn't go sticking it into just any girl!
gross I know, but I hate that kids are being less and less choosy over who they sleep with.

I can't even believe that the boy had been through puberty fully yet!!! I mean don't boys hit that later than girls? lol. I just don't know how the parents didn't catch them. I mean when I was in middle school, if I has a boyfriend, I got to see him in school and at dances where my mommy and daddy dropped me off and picked me up and teachers were in every corner! I guess it is just the new generations. How sad :(. We have 22/332 girls graduating in my class that are admittedly pregnant or have had a child. That doesn't count the ones who have dropped out because of it. Its' very sad!
