Chad and I are using almost all of our tax rebate to pay off debt (it's hardly making a dent though :(), but he's really been wanting some sort of game console for quite a while. I think we're going to set aside just a few hundred to buy one.

I know it's all about preference, but I wanted to get your take on which ones you like/don't like. Chad even said, "Why don't you ask the ladies on OneWed what they think."...too cute! :D

Wii, Xbox, Playstations....ahhhh! I just have no idea.

my husband has a ps3 but hes the only one that plays it since most of the games are either online or 1 person games.

I use Nintendo DS I like it and it keeps me busy while he is playing his game.

If you guys want a console you play together I would go for the WII its sooo much fun. But its more of a group game or more than 2 people.

My husband loves his ps3 and we also use it as a blueray player and DVD player. So if he doesnt use it for games we use it to watch DVD's

Good luck

I have a wii and love it. Recently FH plays Resident Evil and I am playing De Blob. There are many fun/good games out there. I would just take a look at games out for each system and make a choice from there. And if I had a choice between PS3 and Xbox, it would definitely be PS3.

Keely, we have a Wii and a PS2. The PS2 is easier to play if you want to sit on your butt and twiddle your thumbs (literally!)

The Wii - is amazing! I've thrown my arm out more than twice playing tennis and bowling and golfing and baseball on Wii Sports. It's serious interaction that makes you get up and actually do something. Some of the games we still don't understand, but we have had it since Christmas, and are still hooked on Wii Sports (a single disc) and are not tired of it yet. I totally recommend the Wii

We have a Wii and an Xbox 360. Matt is the only one that plays the 360, unless I am playing tetris haha We mostly play on the Wii though. We have a game that we can play connect 4 on that we like :) We also have a Wii fit. If I had to pick to own just one it would certainly be our Wii.

We have PS2 (we play old school in our house :)) and most recently a Wii. I love our Wii. Its fun because you can have friends over and bowl in your living room and its so much more interactive. They just need to start getting some different games!

That's hularious  We have friends over EVERY weekend and we bowl.. that's what we do! We bowl - in our living room  . Our favorite is the training where you get more pins with each set up to 90 pins in a set. We LOVE it!

If you want something fun that you can play together, I definitely suggest the Wii. It is fun and cute and is great for multiplayer! We have the Wii fit and so I play all sorts of cute balance games etc, and the sports are great for 1 player, 2p or even with a group of friends :D I think the wii is easier to pick up and start playing for new gamers too, the playstations are generally more complicated. Plus the wii is cheaper than a PS3.

We started out with a PS3. Then we got an XBox 360 and a Wii. The Xbox went to our roommate and our Wii got sold back, as we ended up not playing either.

As others have said, if you want two player, go with the Wii. However, if Chad wants graphics (Metal Gear Solid 4 is AMAZING in the graphics department), more adult aged games, and to cash in on the blueray combination, go with that. My husband plays the PS3 like it's going out of style!

:) We have our friends over on the weekends and have Shuffleboard tourneys! OMG we get so competitive to the point where we are all screaming as the puck goes down the board! It's a lot of fun! I recommend the Wii as well!

Shut up! WE LOVE THAT PIN GAME!!! Yeah, we have some big bowling competitions.

On a side note, have you ever tried playing tennis drunk? I mean I suck at tennis as it is, but talk about no control!!!

I'm not big into games, but FH loves it. He quotes some article that was published a few years ago about surgeons who play video games being better in robotics surgery. That's his justification for playing so much - he's "practicing". :snide:

Anyway, here are my thoughts on the gaming systems we have or had at some point:

xBox360 - FH's favorite. He plays a lot of 1-2 player games and there are a ton of games available on the system. The only downside the 360 in our experience is that we've had to get the console switched out under warranty at least 4 times in the past two years, and apparently, this is not atypical for the Microsoft game consoles.
PS3 - The graphics on this are even better than the 360 and it doubles as a Blueray player! FH likes playing on it, but says the downside is that there aren't too many games offered for the system just yet. If you're going to make this purchase, search around online for some promos! We got a great deal just before Christmas and bought the whole system from Dell for under $200!!
Wii - Like everybody's already said, the Wii is great for multiple players, but not so much for one/two player games that FH likes to play. The graphics on it are very simple and can't compare to xBox or PS3. FH's roommate had it, and after we moved out, we decided we didn't like it enough to buy a console for ourselves.

Depends on what you are gonna use it for. We have a Wii, had the Xbox 360 and sold it for a PS3.

Like everyone else has said, if you want to play together, get the Wii (also great for kids).

If you want to get him out of your hair for a little while (:winktongue:) and want awesome graphics and the ability to watch high def bluray movies, get the PS3. One of the nice things about the Xbox 360 is that if you have Netflix you can stream movies directly to your TV. They added this feature right after we sold ours or else we probably would have kept it. :icon_barbar:

lol, the first time I did the Wii Fit I was pretty drunk. It was a blast, though! And I had DH cracking up laughing at me.

I suggest the Wii. It really is a lot of fun and you are actually doing something instead of just sitting there. It helps me to not feel so lazy. :)

For the ladies playing tennis.. have you ever exerted yourself to the point that you're in physical pain the next day? My FH thinks I'm crazy (and majorly out of shape) for having bodyaches after playing Wii Sports! But seriously, it's exhausting!!!

Ummm...I'm not going to lie to you...I did use it a lot when we first got it, but haven't used it much since then. I was doing really good the first couple of weeks and then just kind of stopped using it. I THINK about using it way more than I actually do! :) As long as you are more motivated than me, I'm sure you would use it more often than I do.

Thanks ladies!! You are giving me a lot to think about. We would probably be using whatever we get for 2 person games the majority of the time, but I think that we would also like to be more active than just sitting around playing games. He also doesn't care too much about the graphics. Hmmm...

That xbox Netflix deal is pretty cool, by the way!!!

Not so much on tennis, unless we play A LOT. But, on boxing, omg I am working up a sweat and I'm sore for days and days after!

Dude... Tennis is the worst for me - not only did I throw out my arm on tennis 3 times, I just suck at it! I have played drunk though and it is a blast. I would say any of the Wii sport games would be a blast drunk - they're very realistic! Just a lot more convenient.

Shuffleboard! I'm going to have to try that one!

I like the Wii also. Even if you aren't the one playing it, it's fun to sit around and watch someone else play it.

I like the Xbox 360. Lots of good RPGs. :D I'd get a PS3, but sony sucks and doesn't release a backward compatible PS2 version anymore... That and you are limited on the good games that are out..

We have a Wii, and love it.

My Fiance is a computer guy, so for awhile I've pretty much lost him to the computer, while I stayed out in the living room reading or something. But around Thanksgiving we decided we had the extra money and bought a wii. He hasnt played games on the computer for months. We are always on the Wii.

I'm a pro as well - now that I've obtained PRO status, I've stayed away from the real games and have stayed in training, just so I can keep my sparkly bowling ball

My FH owns both an XBOX 360 and a PS3. He refuses to get a Wii because he's disabled and physically can't do the Wii.

I'm going against majority here and voting for Xbox 360. We've had PS1, PS2, Gamecube, Wii, and now Xbox. I find Xbox has a wider variety of games than the other systems do - something for me, something for FH, and something for DSS. And I love that you can rent movies right on your console. I very rarely played any video games on any of the other systems, but find myself playing right along FH on the xbox. :)

Well, guys, we ended up getting a wii. We played it for a few hours last night and had so much fun. We got a few games from Circuit City and want to go back and get a few more when we both get payed. They're 40% off! :D

We got Dancing with the Stars: We Dance (fun!!), Pirates of the Caribbean (Chad liked it. I haven't played it yet.), and Guinness Book of World Records (hated it).

Congrats on the purchase Keely.

We have a PS2 and a PS3. I got FH the PS3 for Christmas this past year. He says he would never own an XBOX 360 because of all the horror stories of them breaking on people - I think my sister's boyfriend has been through 3 XBOX 360's and some of Matt's co-workers have been through 2.

I'm not a big gaming person so I don't really care that there aren't a lot of games for me for the PS3. We still have a few on the PS2 that we can play that were for me and we are looking at getting a tennis game for the PS3. Plus we have DVD games that I like.

We were able to sell our old DVD player once we purchased the PS3 though because of the Blu-ray player and FH loves it.

StarOcean 4 came out today on Xbox 360. Since DH is such a huge fan of these games, he bought another Xbox 360 with his tax return on Friday. 30 SECONDS out of the box, he got the "red ring of death" (for those who don't know of this, it basically means your system's dead, and you can only fix it by sending back to Microsoft).

Best Buy was gracious in taking it back and replacing it, especially since DH bought the two year replacement warranty. However, when we went to buy games at GameStop and told the manager the story, he told us if we had bought the system from their store, policy states he would not have been allowed to replace it.
