As some of you know yesterday I went to a wedding that was at the same venue as my wedding. Karen wanted all the details so here it is.

My outfit that I worried about fit in great. There were many people there that were more under dressed than I was. It was really informal. Most of the men were in jeans and shirts that weren't even that nice. At least Justin wore jeans and a nice shirt. I am hoping that at my wedding most guys at least wear slackes. We'll see.

The wedding was supposed to be outside, but it has rained all weekend so they moved it inside. Lucky for me, then they had the wedding in the exact same place mine will be. I still felt so sorry for the bride.

It is funny how that boring room can be so dressed up when you just put a few decorations up. I have the pics of the room in my journal. When you put lights and tule up it looks good. Their budget was much under what ours is, so we are going to be able to dress it up even more. I got a real good feel by looking at what they had as to what ours is going to look like.

The only thing I really dislike about the place is the chairs. They really bother me. I wish they could get nice white chairs. I know the facility is just now getting popular for weddings. If I was the wedding coordinator there I would defiantely look into getting some nice wedding chairs. Prior to this it was mostly for business retreats and camps for church groups and stuff. We are estimating that we will have 200 guests and we can't afford chair covers for 200 chairs. On the bright side, the chairs are comfortable!

As long as the chairs are comfortable that is all people will notice. Pretty chairs are something that just hte bride worries about. Our venue had ivory and gold chairs at my black and white wedding. I didn't care, people's butts sit on them. There was no way in hell I was going to pay almost $800 for black and white chair covers. It just wasn't going to happen. As far as I know, no one noticed. And if they did, they were smart enough to keep their mouth closed.

That is really neat that you got to see what everything will look like all set up and with people there at your location. Don't worry about the chairs. Once the lights are dimmed and there are lots of people and you are so preoccupied with having a great time you won't even notice the chairs.

I think that it is awesome that you got the chance to see your venue decorated and in full swing. I agree, that the bride is the one that really worries about the chairs. I am getting chair covers, but am sure that Joel could probably care less as well as the other guests. I am sure that everything will be beautiful...and I agree that all that really matters is that they are comfortable...because I am sure that everybody cares about that!!!

How lucky for you, that they had to move it inside, Kacie!! I really think people will under-dress at our wedding too. It is summer in September and there will probably be a lot of shorts there. I don't know how Amber will feel about that, but I don't really care. I know exactly how you feel about how those rooms come alive when you get the wedding stuff in there. The rooms are downright boring with nothing in there. lol We also have brown chairs at our venue, so we are having white chair covers with a victorian lilac sash, but we are only having 50 to 60 chairs to cover. We would never be able to do that with 200 guests. I don't think anyone will notice the chairs though, Kacie, because they will be blown away with your winter wonderland wedding!!! We have seen many weddings at our venue, and no one has covered their chairs so far. I do think they would notice if the chairs were uncomfortable though, so that is awesome that they are comfortable to sit in. Sounds like you got a really good idea of how your wedding will flow.

I really like when we go to our venue to see a wedding too. We went on Saturday too, and they were having a wedding there with fall flowers. The cake was awesome with a trail of flowers cascading down. Their favors were little silver cardboard boxes with their name and wedding date on them, I guess they were filled with some sort of candy. They did their own centerpieces, which were glass containers with water and glass marble things at the bottom with flowers floating on top. It was nice.

It was defiantely a great experience to see a wedding at your venue. I know they are fairly new to weddings there, but if I were the coordinator I would take lots of pictures of people's weddings and then put together a portfolio. I think it would help the place sell.

No place is perfect and we were limited on venue options because of the size of the town we live in and the size of the church we attend. I can live with the chairs because to me everything else is so perfect. And you are all right about nobody noticing the chairs but me. With their decorations the place really did look great!
