I have another interview at 3:30 with a bank that I would love to be part of. Long story short, I can't find a job so I keep pushing back my graduation in order to stay on top of all the things I paid to learn in college. Ive applied everywhere in the area (FH is a school teacher and currently the only one using his degree.:irked:) and have gotten a few call backs for interviews. Only problem is everytime I get an interview, I get a call a few weeks later appoligizing for the inconvenience but they have been put on a hiring freeze and they aren't sure how long it will last. Gah...how am i supposed to do my part for the economy if I can't find a job?

When I got the call the first time for an interview at the banks corporate office, I didn't get my hopes up. I prepared for it like you would another assignment and had the needed excitment and interest you would have for any presentation. I didn't have hopes of a call back other than "sorry on a hiring freeze." But i didn't, I got a second interview. I want to get excited but im still scared. I need lots of prayers. This job will keep me in the area for atleast two years while I go through the training program. If i pass this interview there will only be one more in person interview standing between me and a job at the bank. I wish the economy wasn't so sucky. Everyone is so afraid to hire and Im afraid to graduate without a job. I can't pay off student loans working at Bed bath and beyond. :whyme:

Girl, I'm really crossing my fingers that you get the job!!! Confidence in the economy is SO HUGE. Once businesses start losing their confidence and not hiring, it's a chain reaction. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I hope you get the job! It's ok to allow yourself a little excitement - a second interview at least means they're hiring! Good luck!

Good luck!!

It really is a scary thing, how few places are hiring. I've been checking a job search site every couple of days to see if there's any new jobs in libraries, where I'd like to work when I graduate in a couple years, and there really haven't been any. My hope is that it just means the older librarians are waiting to retire.... until I graduate.

But for now, I honestly feel lucky to have even the part-time job that I do. It seems that even retail places aren't hiring around here.

Well im not sure. They said they had 100 people going for 6 spots. I hope it went well. The woman that did my interview doesn't give much feedback when she does the interviews so she could have loved me or hated me and I wouldn't know the difference. I did get her to laugh a couple of times when we started talking about the banking industry and why the bank is thriving when so many are falling flat. She laughed a little and said that they were all thankful for the reasons. She got to see some of what I know so Im hoping it went well. She said she will be making calls to the people who made it through to the third and hopefully the final round at the end of the month to let them know that they made it. The third interview will be in front of a panel and one of the panel members will be gone for two weeks next month so they wont schedule the appts til next month. If this month goes by will no call than I know i didn't make it. This whole process is way scarier than I thought especially since the economy has so many companies downsizing. Atleast the retail company I work for now is debt free and stable so far. I should count my blessings and pray for the best.
