So I'm putting on an anniversary party for Matt's cousins. They're going on their second honeymoon in June (right after their actual anniversary). We're going to watch their kids the whole week that they're gone (3.5 & 5 yrs old).
The husband's mother has agreed to let us throw the party at her house, and she wants to help with it. We're hoping to get it catered so that it's not "just another family picnic" type of thing. Brenda (the mother who's house it's going to be at) says it's going to be no kids allowed because she wants the parents (J & R) to be able to relax. I can't use their whole names because they're both on the internet regularly and I'd be busted if they found out about this. It's supposed to be a COMPLETE surprise.
So far, Brenda is planning to invite J & R over to her house for R's birthday on May 2. She's going to tell him it's just an adult dinner get together for his birthday. He'll think it'll only be about 6 of them, but we'll all be there when they arrive.
I know, I have it all planned out in my head, but who knows if it's going to go the way we have planned.
Anyway, I need 10th anniversary ideas. I definitely want to go with daffodils and silver/blue if they're in season.. and I already have a caterer picked out.
One of my biggest questions - WHAT KIND OF FOOD???? We ALWAYS bar-b-que when we're with their side of the family - so I don't see the point in doing that. Pasta is easy, but typical. They're going to Hawaii for their honeymoon, so I thought Hawaiian theme would be fun - but again that's too typical.
Open to thoughts and ideas!
I found this information that I'm going to try to base the theme/decor off of - I thought it was really sweet.
