This thread was inspired by Shawna who just wrote in anothe rthread that she has three girls names picked out. I thought that it would be cool if we posted the names we have picked out for our kids...if you have any..or even want kids?

Ok.....the ones I have already are:

Derek Ryan
Emily Brooke
Logan Ty
Lance Kaeden

IF Brian and I get stupid and decide we want another one, or accidentally end up with one these were the names we toyed around with while teasing each other last summer:

Caleb Brian for a boy
Emory Brianna for a girl - (actually Brian's great-great-great grandpa had a town and a county named after him - Emory, Texas is in Rains County...only I told Brian there was no way in H3LL I was naming my little boy Emory!!!)

We have so many names that we like....arg.

We have 2 boys names that we absolutely love.
Xavier Nigel
Noah James

For girls names we like:
Madesyn
Tyle (pronounced Tyla)
Helena (Alex isn't too fond of this one)
Kymberleigh (this is our favorite)
Ryan

For the girls, I think any girl we have her middle name will be Emma.

Wow!!! Well for a girl we have decided on Alyssa Grace and for a boy we have decided on Andrew Clayton. I will call my girl Ally (which Joel hates by the way) and my boy Drew!!!

Sean and I have never really talked about baby names. So I don't really know what he would or wouldn't like. For girls I like Tess, Sarah, and Allison. For boys I like Bram, Andrew, and Julian.

If me and Andrew decide to have kids, I like Audrey for a girl. I haven't really thought about one for a boy though. I would like to have it be something that starts with an A (Andrew, Ashley, Audrey, etc..... you get the picture).

Well, I already have...

Michael John &
Summer Ashleigh

and if we have another boy, he will be

Jason Stannard, II (after his late brother)

and another girl will probably be

Teresa Kathleen (after our grandmothers)

Ok well...I usually don't share names we have picked out because for some reason the people around me like to steal my names...the same happened to my SIL and she was madder then hell. But I think I can trust y'all and you aren't close in distance so it wouldn't bother me! lol

Girls: (I lied we actually have four! lol)

-Kaitlynn Maria (Maria after my FIL...yes he has a girls middle name but thats the way they do it in Germany.) Matthew and I love the name Kaitlyn...it is so pretty!

-Hannah Mary Angelique (Mary Angelique for my decesed Aunt who was my world! And I want to honor her, she was a very special person!)

-Faith

-Hope

(Faith and Hope because that is what is getting us there. Our faith in each other and hope that this nightmare will end!!)

Boys: (lol...we actually only have one but aren't totally set on it!)

-Noah Alexander (Alexander for my big brother...that's his middle name as well!!:) )

Well....

I am deadset on Ella Kae(Kae is to honor our mothers, Jason's moms middle name was Kae and she passed away and Kae for Karen) for our girl...it is growing on Jason.

We tossed around a few boy names I liked Jayden because it's like Jason and Kai. All we know for sure is his middle name will be James in honor of Jason's stepdad.

Good post, Angel!!

The one name we have decided on for girls is Ryanne Jennifer. Using the parents first name as the childs middle name is a tradition in Mark's family. Or it will be Ryanne Lee cause Lee is my middle name and my mothers.
Other names i like are Kate, Emily, Ava and Hope.

For Boys we like the name Christian Mark. But i worry that since my nephew's name is Christopher it will become difficult if they both go by Chris when they get older. I also love the name Jonas, Noah, and Daniel.

I don't know that we will have a name 100% picked out until the baby were to arrive. When Christopher was born they were planning on naming him Noah but decided that he didn't look like a Noah. My parents did that too. Originally i was going to be Dealia.

We've discussed this a few times. We both agreed upon Zachary for a boy since that is Bryan's middle name. It's a tradition in his family that the son gets either his father's first or middle name. I don't really have any other ideas because we haven't talked much. But I like Alexandra for a girl just because it is pretty! And we are definitely going to name our girl Reagan if we have one... after none other than one of the greatest Presidents, Ronald Reagan. I just love the name Reagan for a girl... I dunno maybe it's just me. But I like Bryant for a boy as well, and I like Abram (but Bryan really hates that), also I like Trevor.

Before you settle on Reagan watch The Excorcist. I used to see a guy before I met Sean who was the world's biggest Republican. (If you knew me you would know what an odd pair we were) Anyway he swore his first born boy or girl would be Regan after old Ronnie. Then I reminded him of the pea soup scene in that movie. I think his mind changed.

Well I'm pretty set on Kimberly Aimee for a girl. (I'm actually my parents 3rd born but the middle baby died shortly after birth and her name was Aimee).

And for a boy I kinda like Dylan (not sure which spelling I like the best yet) and Coby is pretty cool too.

I don't want to name our kids after grandparents or anybody, (Aimee is an exception though as she didn't even get a chance to live). That way it is fair on everybody and there will be no squables on 'how come you named him/her after so & so and not me' type of thing.

I'd like names that you don't hear every day like Mark, John, Lisa, Sarah. I'd like something a bit different but not totally different like what some of the celebraties are doing.

I already have:

Sameria Lynn
Kolton Ray

When we have more, Adam wants Lee Danger for a boy. Lee is Adam's dad's name. Haven't quite decided on a girl name yet. Adam's family only has boys so I guess we haven't thought too hard about a girls name yet.

Well, Alyssa Grace is because we could agree on Alyssa and Grace is Joel's mom's aunt's name. She dies fairly young and never had any children of her own. Andrew Clayton is because we both could agree on Andrew and Clayton is his paternal grandfathers name, who is deceased...plus it kinda sounds like a President to me...Andrew Clayton Harris!!!lol. Also, Jenn..I thought it was funny how you said that your parents wanted to name you Dealia, just because it amuses me what parents want to name their children but don't. My mother was originally going to name me Elizabeth Ann...and I got Angel Marie...then she was gonna name my sister Elizabeth Ann and she was born on Valentines Day...so she got Valerie Gail. If Joel's would have been a girl, his mom was going to name him Treasure...man is he lucky he was a boy!!!

For girls I like the name Ava Elizabeth or Ava Madison. I also like the name Ashlyn and for some reason I like the name Evelyn. I also like the name Zoey. For boys I like names like Cody, Mason, Hunter, and Caleb. I will probably not name any boys Hunter or Caleb though because one of Justin's friends is named Hunter and I have a cousin name Caleb. I also like the name Cade, but Justin has a cousin named Cade!

Eric and I have decided on

Colton Wayne (Wayne is a family tradition it started with his dad, then there was Eric Wayne, Hunter Wayne (nephew).

Our little girl will be Erika Grace (no Shawna I did not steal this from you, I have wanted Grace since I was in my early 20's;) ) Erika of course is in honor of Eric.

If mine had been the other sex, this is how that would have played out:
Derek would have been Morgan Brooke
Emily - Austin Blake
Logan - Carly Jo
Lance - Laney Chyenne

And about the parents changing the names at the last minute, I had toyed around with Emily and Erin for my daughter and had pretty much decided on Erin Brooke for her name. When I was holding her right after she was born, the nurse asked me what her name was and out of the blue I said "Emily".

And up until I was 8 months pregnant with Logan, he was going to be Devin Cole. All of the sudden (with 1 month left to go) the name we had worked so hard to pick out, just didnt feel right. So it was back to the drawing board........

Nico's dad and I toyed w his name up until it was time to acutally name him on paper. We were trying to comeup w something that would mix our grandfather's names, but it didnt work. We both liked Nico, but when I had to sign everything, his father was out of the hosp room, and named him Nicholas. I figured, if he was going to be president one day, it would sound better as President Nicholas................. rather than President Nico...........

His father wasn't too happy. That's what he gets for leaving the room!!!

I wanted to do that with my son too, Heather. I don't know if you know it or not, but my son's name Malachi (Malak eye) is the last book of the Old Testament in the bible. It means Messenger of God. He loves his name and is so proud of it because it is in the bible. Also, because it is so unusual.

That's why Amber likes the name Ella for her baby girl. It is a very old girl's name, that is not used anymore. I think that is a way cool thing to do by resurrecting old names for today's little girls.

But for a boy, I love Jack.

Angel,

My parents both wanted to name me something different. (BTW, I hate my name as it is.) My mom wanted Roxanne (HATE it!! lol) and my dad wanted Cassandra (love it!!) but since they couldn't agree they came to Shawna Leanne. I don't know how or why, but they did. (My SIL's name is Leanne.)
If I were to be a boy, I'd have gotten the name Shawn. Wow, they really were using their imagination! lol. My parents knew people who named their daughter Leanne Shawna. I still have to laugh over that one, but I think their daughter is younger then me.

Ellen,

Erika or Grace are no where near my list...lol...so it's all good and like I said, I don't mind if you all pick off my list, which I have a feeling won't happen. It's not like we live next door. However if someone announced they were pregnant and then said they were naming their child my EXACT names RIGHT now, I'd be upset but that's just because dealing with pregnancies are a little hard on me. BUT I'd get over it! lol

My sil is really sure she is having a boy. If so, they are naming Jack. Not John or Jackson, just Jack. WHen they said that I started to laugh because all I could think of was the Just Jack Show in Will & Grace

By the way someone mentioned Ella for a girl. I like it a lot. I really always like Eleanor. But, we named the dog Eleanor and call her Ellie for short. (Unless she is trouble then she gets the Elle-A-NORRRRR!

I read this post while I was unable to post and could not wait to join in.

I have a daughter who's name is - Jessa Jason ( she has her dads name as her middles name ) I got the name Jessa from a child I took care of when I was in high school. I had never heard that name before and fell in love with it. You here Tessa and soem others but not Jessa. I love it.

My sons name is - Richard Dean ( Richard is from his late grandfather and it is tradition that every other generation there is a Richard so lucky me got to name my son that, I dont like the name or all the nic names that come from it, we call him Dean, which just happens to be my middle name, yes I have a boys name for a middle name )

If Jessa was a boy she was going to be Richard Dean

but if Dean was a girl he was goign to be Adrianna ( cant remember what we had picked for a middle name )

As for names parents wanted to name their kids, my mom said if I was a boy I would have been Joseph, same with my sister and then she finaly got her boy and names him noen other then Joseph. If I was a boy my dad wanted to name me Jud ( I AM SOOOO glad that didnt happen lol ).

My name is Gwen Dean and my sister is Amanda Gean , my mom said if she knew we were going to be born in the winter and summer she would have named us winter and summer. THANK GOD SHE DIDNT.

Shawna, I have a neice named Faith and she has a cousin on her dads side named Hope. If either of them had another girl it was going to be Charity but they both had boys so the have Thomas ( Tom Tom to all of us ) and Johnny.

More then anything we would like to have two girls and one boy. A girl first, a boy next and then a girl. (However we'd welcome a fourth too! lol but let's get through the first and see how that goes!) Our first daughter would be Kaitlynn, our son perhaps Noah, and then our last daughter Hannah Faith or Faith "middle name here" (havent decided on a middle name). I would really love to name our son Kevin James, for a really great friend I had way back when and Kevin for my uncle and a guy I used to work with. Every Kevin I have ever met I have always clicked with and thought of them as a brother. We would really love to use the name Faith, because of what we have been going through, as well as the name Hope. I guess we'll wait and see what our children will be like and then go from there. We also really like the name Autumn Skye. Yes I know that sounds funny but we really like it! :)

We have decided on two names and have tossed around a few others. The two we've decided on are:

Jason Eric, Jr. for a boy (That's Jason's name and I've always wanted a Junior...besides, then we can call him JJ)

Zoey Leona for a girl (We both love the name Zoey and Leon was Jason's grandfather's name and Leona was my grandmother's middle name)

The one's we've tossed around are:

Qwinn James
Rose (either first or middle)

Okay, that's all I can remember. Although, I'm trying to swing Jason towards Eleanor. I love that name and Eleanor Roosevelt is one of my heros! Nobody I mention that name to likes it though, so I think I'm out of luck.

J and I were talking this weekend, and if we ever had a little girl, we may name her Katherine Lucile. Katherine is my grandmother's name, and has been used in my fam for generations. Lucile is J's grandmother's name. Though Lucile isn't my fav name, it does have an old fashioned ring to it. We both like the kickname Kat (my gramma uses Kitty).

When I was thinking up names for my kids I wanted something different you dont hear every day but not something so weird no one could say it or read it. Dean you dont hear a whole lot of. I see more adults with this name then I do kids. I think I have only ever seen one kid with that name and even he is an adult by now. There is not another Dean in his pre school class or the whole day care.

Now my daughters name is different. Jessa. She is the only Jessa at her school. I took care of a child named Jessa one year and have never came across another untill I had my daughter. There are many very nice names but they get over used.

I love the name Olivia, I have always loved this. Now for a boy I have no idea. I want something differnt but not over used.

We've been talking about this a lot lately because I currently have 5 friends that are pregnant at the moment. (I'm buying lots of baby yarn lately!)

We're really not sure what we'd name them, but I've always been partial to Alexander or Joshua for boys. (Although, since I'm a Jennifer and my future hubby is a Jonathan another J name could get a little over sweet.)

Girls have me stumped...but a one of my friends is naming her daughter Ada and another is thinking about Eloise. I love both of those names.

I love the older names for little girls too. I like both of those names. Amber wants to name her little baby girl (when she has one) Ella.

Me and my SiL (who is expecting in early March) had this conversation this morning. Mark and i have talked alot about this since Kim told us she is expecting her 4th.

Girls:
Emily. We loooove this one. I think if we have a girl this will be her name.
Anna
Julia
Ryanne

Boys:
Mason
Christian (This one probably won't ever make it as a first name since our youngest nephew now is named Christopher and that would make it somewhat complicated. Plus good friends of ours are thinking they will name their son that if its a boy)
Taylor
Noah

Emily and Mason have been put out there as.... Our names. Unless otherwise stated none of our family can have them. lol. I'm thinking of the episode of Friends where Rachel falls in love with Monica's baby name, Emma.

For middle names Mark wants to give his first born son his first name. Marks middle name is his fathers name and his fathers middle name is his grandfathers first name. This would be a bit weird if we use Mason for a first name. Mason Mark sounds a bit funny. My thought is maybe using my brothers name as the middle name. Mason James.
For girls middle names we have no clue. I have the same middle name as my mom. But it would be to much 'eeee' sound because my middle name is Lee and our last name ends in 'ey' and if were to have Emily. Emily Lee would just be weird. So maybe her name will be Emily Jennifer.
lol.... talk about complicated!

We have picked a name for our 1st daughter and 1st son....so hopefully we get one of each....since it was almost impossible to get Joel to agree to anyting...lol. For a girl we like Alyssa Grace and for a boy we chose Andrew Clayton...I think it sounds Presidential, especially with his last name!!! Grace is Joel's great aunt's name, she died young and never had any children, and Clayton is his late grandfather's name!!!

We have not been able to agree on anything else but I like the following names:

Girls:
Isabella Faith-I would call her Bella
Ava Leigh/Faith
Carly Faith
As you can see I like the middle name of Faith..lol!!!

Boys:
Jacob
Caleb
Kaden
Noah
He doesn't like any of the boys names and the only one he has even given consideration for the girls is Ava!!!

Well I have a daughter and I have had her named picked out LONG before we every thought about having kids. Her name is Jessa Jason. She has her dads name as her middle name.

My boys name we also had picked out. We had one of each. His name is Richard Dean. Now I dont like the name Richard or all the nick names that go with it. But it was something my ex wanted because every other generation there has been a Richard. So we gave him my middle name of Dean ( ye sI have a boys middle name ) and we call him by that.

If Nicholas and I have a child we are not sure we would name them. We have tossed around Tristan for a boy. I love Olivia for a girl. But we are still not sure what we will use.

Girls:

Reagan
Alexandra (seems to be a popular one!)
Madison
Aundrea
Delaney

Boys:

Zachary
Dylan
Colin
Lincoln
Avery

The only name we discussed is our first boy will be Zachary but we're unsure about middle name probably Zachary Thomas. For a girl most likely will be Reagan but I don't know what middle.

We thought it would be funny if we named a few of our kids after presidents...

"Meet our kids, this is Reagan, this is Lincoln, and this is Carter..." But I don't think we could do that!

I am not sure about any girls names there arent any that I especially like right now. I did really like Isabelle, but my FSIL took it for her daughter.

The only names that I have thought for a boy are
Clayton Gregory
Clayton Paul

I really want to name him after Clayton, but didnt really want a JR.
Claytons middle name is Edward, so I figured I would change the middle name (Paul was my dads first name, Gregory was his middle name, he died when I was 6)
And I would want to call him Clay, not Clayton

Those are pretty names!!

I've always wanted unusual but not weird names for my kids, because growing up, it seemed like EVERYBODY had my name (Elizabeth) in their name either as the first or middle. I was going to be Emily Rose, but my parents decided on Elizabeth Ann (someone else mentioned that name in an earlier post!), which is funny because in middle school my best friend was Emilie Rose!

For my kids (my FH agrees with most of them, but not all, and as we have all experienced with our own names, many parents change their minds!) I like

Faith Elizabeth (after not just me but it's a family name on my dad's side)
Mikayla Danielle (danielle after my FH whoe middle name is Daniel, but I don't really like that name)
Zachary Scott (scott after my mom's maiden name)

There are other names that my FH and I toss around every now and then, but those are my favorite!!

Our first son will most likely be named after my hubby; Michael.
(But that name is so common so we may change that name later on down the road.)
We are still debating girl's names, we have liked the name Jade before but that name may be ruined now. I like the name Angel for a girl as well. (That's my middle name and it goes well w/ my name, etc...) I may also name her after my mother, Marion. (That's not my fav. name but I love my mother so much! :)) My mother's middle name is Emma, so I have considered that 1 as well.

We've talked about a couple of names but we're just not sure. Our first daughter's middle name will be Elizabeth .. it's my grandma's middle name and my dad wanted it for me but mom said no and I always felt cheated lol, so I want to give it to my kid. We were thinking Emma Elizabeth but I'm not entirely sure on the Emma anymore. We're having the hardest time coming up with boy names because he likes more traditional ones and I like more modern names.. ex. he'd suggest Richard and I'd suggest Caden. The only thing we both agree on is Matthew, and he'd have the same middle name as William does.

for a girl i would like Lillian Jackquith
both of my grandmothers middle names (heres a funny note, both grandmothers dont go by their first names because they dont like them and they were named after people in their family... laughs, hope my kid wont mind so much.)

and for a boy, the name bryan is big in tylers family... infact its one of his middle names and he has a cousin named bryan, so he would like it somewhere... his first and middles are tyler bryan boyd and he wanted for a while to name a son bryan tyler... i dont think i am loving that. How wierd my BM and I were talking about this a couple of days ago.

If we have a boy it will be Joseph John Edward
Joe- My fathers and FH brothers name
John - FH dad and brothers name
Edward- FH middle name that is also his dads and grandfather middle name
Both my Father and his BM have two middle names, so that is why we are doing that

If it is a girl Maddison Ann (or Margaret)
Margaret is my grandmas name, ann is my sisters middle name

Oh my golly, I'm obsessed with names. Seriously.

Well, we already have one son, Josiah Michael, who is almost 17 months. Michael is my Father's name, and Josiah was the only name we could agree on. We call him Si or Siah. We would like to have another in a couple years.

If it's a boy, his name will be Judah William (nickname Jude; William is FH's middle name)

If it's a girl, either Sophia (nn Sophie) or Anastasia (nn Anya). And I'm too indecisive to pick a middle name.

That's really cool that you're going to name your daughter Jessie for your friend. I always wanted to name my son Jesse James (I have a sick Jesse James obsession), but didn't necessarily want to bestow such an honor on a guy that really wasn't all that honorable. Ummmm I think I've had names since I was like 16 lol! Granted they have changed, but some are still there. I used to not want 'normal' names b/c my name is Elizabeth and I hated the fact that it seemed like EVERYBODY was an Elizabeth in some way, but now I am okay with more traditional names. I also want the name, either first or middle, to mean something, ie. a family name. So....

Girls names we like:
Sarah Danielle (we will def. probably use this one, danielle is after Stephen, his middle name is daniel)
Faith Elizabeth (obvious, but Elizabeth is also a huge family name in my family, but not really my favorite anymore)
I also really like the name Abigail and Mikayla, but Stephen doesn't really, and it seems like there are more, but I can't think of them!

Boys names (we have much more trouble agreeing on these!)
Zachary Scott (Scott is my mom's middle name)
Matthew (not stephen's favorite, and I'm not sure what middle name I would use, maybe Kay b/c it's his moms middle name, but I'm not sure)
Again, it seems like there have been more, but they have escaped me!

Speaking of names though, my BIL and SIL are having a baby, and I REALLY don't like the names she has been thinking about! Granted, she has plenty of time b/c they aren't due until October, but she likes Greenlee (from the soap opera) for a girl and Roarke for a boy (pronounce like roar with a k at the end)! I'm sorry but I just don't like them!! And my cousin who is due in July I think, was considering Aucity. I don't really like that either!

Izabella so we can call her Bell and Mia just fit lol
Nikko because I am Nicole lol and Giacobbe because it is part of my grandfathers last name DiGiacobbe it also means Jacob in Italian.

So are we!!! Actually, this is very controversy for us! One of my really good friends got pregnant two years ago, and one night we were all talking about baby names and such. Well, Tony is italian so it is very important to him to have an italian name and he has had his daughter's name picked out since forever...well when he shared his dream for his daughter's name and even explained how long he's wanted this name and how important it is to him... they stole it 2 months later on their daughter!!!

Since my name is Diamend and it is unique and spelled wrong- I kinda wanted to pass that down... that is why I want Fayth and Alivia (instead of Olivia) but Tony doesn't want to spell it with an A. And also recently I thought it would be kinda neat, since I am a jewel/stone, to have a daughter named Emerald and call her Emma. but he hates that too :(

they stole it 2 months later on their daughter!!!

That happened to me too. My son's name was supposed to be Anthony Joseph after my grandfather and father and when that name was used by a family member for her son we had to pick a new name.

How weird!!! Tony's real name is Joseph Anthony!!! His dad's name is Joseph Martin... and they get their mail mixed up all the time b/c they are both Joe Bianco.

Yea... it was really hard on him when they did that... we are still friends but definitely not as close.

So, here is a link to the names we're considering:

http://www.babynames.com/namelist/9383500

(I don't know the rules about posting links, so I hope this is kosher). Anyway, you might have to refresh the page for our names to show up (I think the site has a glich), but please vote, and create a list of your own so we can vote. (Can you tell I'm obsessed with names...this isn't the only baby name list I have, lol).

I've always wanted Adriana Paige for a girls name & Brayden Memphis...my FH doesn't like either & has a boys name picked out (but won't tell me yet for some reason). I'm stuck on the girl's name, but not so picky about the boy's name.

So, I'm absolutely obsessed with baby names, and I'm always interested in other people's favourite names. I figured since a few people on here are going to be thinking about having children after their weddings, I was wondering what names you would be considering?

I tend to like really obscure and unique names, but if you click on the link below, it's my always-changing list of names. We already have one son named Josiah Michael, and I know if we have another boy, he'll be named Judah (nn Jude), but other than that, we have no idea. Let me know what you think of my names and post your favourites!

For a girl I like Madalyn, Madison, Madeline and the Khmer names Koliyan and Chackriya.

I want babies. <3

I've always wanted twin girls!!! I don't know why, it just seems like it would be so much fun (and hard work).

If you had twin girls, would you give them similar names, or make them completely different? What names would you choose?

Wow, I'm not decisive enough for girl names. I used to really want 2 girls and name them Lucienne Jane Starling (Jane is a family name) and Anastasia Heather Nouvelle (Heather's my sister's name). Then their nicknames could be Ana and Lucy. I have a feeling I'm having all boys though. I've already got one.

As far as making them similar or different, I think you have to kind of keep them semi-similar. We named our first son Josiah and FH wanted to name our next kid Dennis (after my Grandfather). But Josiah and Dennis just sound way too different. So yes, I would keep them kind of similar, but not matchy, like a lot of people like to do (like my cousins Tara and Tyler). Then there's my FH and his brother, who are also twins, and are named Joseph William and Sivert Tollaksen. Strange.

That is pretty weird!! I've seen twins named "Ella and Emma," which was way too confusing for me, being their gymnastics coach. I could never get it right. Another set were "Bethany and Brittany." I definitely like the matchy names, as long as they're not so close that they confuse people.

My firstborn is Shannon. I thought it was a bit "different" until I read a list after she was born saying that it was amongst the top 20 names.

I also wanted a Kate but I didn't want a Katherine so I was going to go with Katelyn.

My son had several names before he was born -

Shane - but I decided it would be too "cutesy" with Shannon
Miles - until my XFIL cracked some joke about kilometers

We named him Justin. I had to take him to the clinic about 3 weeks after he was born because he developed a bad cold. The Dr. said ..."so, you brought him in JUST IN case? I looked at him like he'd grown a third eye and replied "yes, I am worried". He said "so it's better that I look at him JUST IN case" ... I was really starting to get annoyed with the idiot when I realized that he was teasing me about his name. Duh!!! I had never even considered JUST IN when we were deciding on names LOL

DH's kids are Jason & Alexandra.

As a teacher I always have a hard time with names because we always associate them with kids we have had in the past! Also, I WILL make sure they are easy to pronounce and make sense, I always feel badly for the kids when I butcher their names when they make NO sense!

Boys' names:

I like Brady Joseph but FH wants a Jr. which would be Joseph Lee and I said we could call him JJ
But one night when we were just discussing odd things - I said Noah Parker and he absolutely loves it - I don't absolutely love it, but it's definitely doable

Girls' names

I really like Jayden Evelyn (Evelyn is his late grandmother's name) and FH likes it too
But one time we were playing the board game Life and he landed on the baby girl space - so I ask him what he's gonna name her and out of the blue he says Hannah Jo - I really like that name as well

And I totally understand how being a teacher really limits name choices - I can never have a Leah, Matthew, Sarah or Kelly! LOL

Oh my gosh I love baby names... I work in child care so I actually think about it pretty often.

If I have a girl I want to name her Hannah (middle name I haven't decided, I think maybe either Grace or Renee)
Sean wants to name a girl Colette

Boys I have a hard time thinking of names..
I *love* the name Justin.. and there are others I really like that I can't think of at the moment... Sean *really really* likes Daimian... *sigh*

I love the names Isabella and Ethan. Then I always thought it'd be pretty to name a girl Isabella Raye. I've had those picked out for probably around 10 years... and then all the sudden both Isabella and Ethan showed up at #2 on the top baby names lists a couple years ago. Annoying, but I still want to use them.

Alright, that's it! lol. I've been going on these baby name forums to see what people think of my baby name choices. So I go into one to get opinions on my boy's names that we're trying to decide between. It's down to Judah James and Judah William. So, I get a comment back that says:

I like Judah William cuz Judah James sounds like a porn star name

Hahahahahaha! What?!?!?! They're both biblical names. Judah is a Kingdom in the bible, and James was one of the 12 apostles. I thought it was hilarious (if not a little ridiculous). Does anyone else think that Judah James is a 'porn star name'?

See?! That's what I was going for!!! I'm a huge history buff and I LOVE Jesse James, but I obviously don't want to full-on name my son Jesse James. Then when I realized I could tack 'James' onto my favorite name 'Judah', it kind of had the same ring to it as Jesse James...I'm so glad you mentioned this, Justina. :D

Yeah, I agree. I like finding really unique, original names that can be shortened to a more normal nickname (like Judah nickname Jude, or even Jay if he's really picky, lol). That way, if he likes having a different, unique name, he can go with Judah, or if he just wants to blend in with the crown, he can go with something a little more mainstream. It's nice to have options. :D

Chele's middle name of Precious got me thinking... there are three of us girls who hang out in our office, and one of our guy co-workers call us Princess, Precious, and Precocious. I'm Precocious! How about those for triplet names?!?

My boy name is Brant. We want to keep with the "Br" names (as in Breckan and Brian). Brian is crazy about Brayden, but I have a first cousin who named their son that.

My girl name is Brisa (rhymes with Lisa). And I also have a first cousin named Brianne, so that's out, too.

If we weren't doing the Br-thing, I like Myles for a boy and Annilee for a girl! Also like Elizabeth (call her Eliza for short).

That is so awesome!!! I wouldn't mind naming my son Jesse James (I LOVE both names), but the only problem that I have with it is that I would be naming him such because of the famous Jesse James, whom I don't consider to be a very honorable character. I love studying him, but he's not really somebody that I would want people to think that I idolized enough to name my son after him. I mean, he was a murderer after all. But the name itself is a really cool name, which is why I wanted to kind of replicate it without really honoring him in any way. If any of that makes any sense, lol.

Adria is really pretty, and I don't think I've ever heard it before! And wasn't Seven from 'Married With Children' and 'Seinfeld'? How funny!

I have to say, I like names that aren't too trendy... Maybe even kind-of classic?

For a boy:
Jonathan David (most likely)
For a girl:
Julia Kay

Both of these names have a lot of meaning to me, and I hope that FH keeps being supportive about it when we get pregnant. (because it will be years and years from now!) Jonathan was my brother's name, and I would really love to use it some way in a name because he passed away when I was 14. Julia was my Great Aunt Julie's real name, (it somehow got turned to Julie in there somewhere...) and since my real grandmother passed away when my mom was 22, my Aunt Julie acted as my grandmother, and she was an angel. I think that I'd like to have 4 children when we get to baby-making time, and FH & I also like the names:
Trent Michael
Owen ______
Elise Charlotte (I actually just thought about the Charlotte, and I think its nice!)
Kaydence Elizabeth
There are probably some I'm missing, but thats good for now :grinhappy:

In discussing the name, we were first thinking "Trent Jonathan Michael" but I'd rather have the Jonathan stand alone, I think. I'm hoping to have lots of boys, so we'll probably use Trent, too :D

My dughter is name Jessa Jason ( Jessa was a name I fell inlove with when I was in hgih school, it is not odd sounding but not so common who have so mayn of then running aorund, her middle name is her dads first name )

my middles sone is Richard Dean ( Richard was after his grandfather and Dean is my middle name, we call him Dean and I like it because agin it is not overly used and it is not odd at all )

my 3rd child, a son is named Grady Mitchell ( Grad is after his great great grandfather and Mitchell is my dads last name ) Grady is not very common at all but not odd either

I love names that are not heard very often but are not so odd no ne can say them. If I have another I have no idea what the name would be. Grady woudl ahve been Addison Elizabeth if he was a girl.

We also have our names picked out already.

If we have a girl it will be Madison Ann. I am not sure why, but I have always liked the name Madison, and Ann is my sisters middle name, and my grandmas middle name.

If we have a boy it will be Joseph John Edward. My dad's name is Joe, and his brothers name is Joey. His Dad's name is John, and his brothers name is Jon. Edward is fh's and his dads and grandpas middle name. We will have two middle names because both my dad and fh's brother have two middle names.

If we have more then that, or if we have more then one of each sex we are going to have to come up with some names then!

I really like "Rose" as a middle name, but now that I'm marrying FH, I really can't do that, because her initials would be ARS (arse).

For boys, I never really thought about it, but FH really wants to name our son Kaze (pronounced Ka-zay), which is Japanese for wind.

I went to the babynames page that nikita said, I voted some of her girl names, excellent choices Nikita!
OMG As i was surfing that site I found this
http://www.babynames.com/Names/spooky-names.php

Seriously now, would ANYONE name their child Thing, Quasimodo or Lucifer?

Freaky!

I have thought my children names already, I want to say that I dont have many choices as here in Greece its an unwritten rule that you name your children after your parents.
So my children will go like this

1st son: Lambros (meaning shiny) my FFIL's name
2nd son: Aristeides (Ancient greek name) my dad's name

1st daughter:Elisabeth, my mom's name
2nd daughter: Agatha (in greek it means a very kind and calm person), my FMIL's name

Now I will also give a second name to every child and here is where I will add my little flair to my children names!

I definately want Crysanthemo like a second name for my first child, its this flower
http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:scnKsP3vvyQ4sM:http://www.coldclimategardening.com/wp-content/chrysanthemum.jpg

I want my first born to be a boy!
I also want twin girls very badly! I will come up with something cute like middle names!

They gonna be wonderful if they are Agatha and Elizabeth, twins!!

I need some help to have children and I will seek medical assistance, so I think that my dream for an older son and twin younger daughters may come true!

Girl = Adora Rainbow
Boy = Link Atreyu

I'm a stickler for unique names and these all represent characters whom we love. 10 points to anyone who knows where they're from ;) ..except Rainbow of course...that's a given...lol

And if we happen to have a third, or end up with two girls or two boys, our alternate name is Eliah (pronounced Eh-LEE-uh for a girl or Eh-LIE-uh for a boy). It's our last name spelled backwards :winktongue: We haven't decided on a middle name yet...but it has to be something like Ava or Eve that's spelled the same frontwards and backwards, so their entire name will be a palindrome

Hello, I'm new here... but I'm fascinated by names. I'm not a new bride... I've been married for 29 years, but I've been in the wedding business in the past (now retired), and I love weddings, which is one of the reasons I joined this forum. Plus I have three nieces getting married and my son and his girlfriend will be planning a wedding soon too.. no date set yet.

Being a student of archaeology and a keen enthusiast of ancient history, I have always been in love with names from ancient myths like Isis, Freyja, Echo, Thalia (thus my tag), Loki, Janus, Ethlinn, Ronan, Lakshmi etc.

I wouldn't give a child many of those names, but I have considered Isis Mae, Freja Rose and Loarna Jade. I am also keen on Erenelthia and Belendara, partly because they can be shortened to Eren and Bel.

I am not into giving my kid any weird spelling variations on standard names. It seems cute at first but I feel like they're in for a lifetime of annoyance.

My hubby and I have our names picked out already :) I know we've discussed this before on here, but it doesn't hurt to refresh! I love our names we've picked... I only am second guessing one of them. We picked out 2 boy names and 2 girl names....

2: Dylan Joseph (DJ for short)
1: Samantha Lily (Lily for my hubby's mom, and Sierra picked Samantha)
2: Serena Ruth (Ruth for my grandmother, and Serena might change to Sabrina.... but that's a LONG ways away!)

But, there are a few names I like. I'll throw them out there:
The only girls name I love is Ava. Middle names I like are Grace, Chelsea, Elizabeth (my middle name :chimp:) or Haleigh.

For a boy, I like the name Ryan, with Geoffrey as a middle name after DH.

For a girl, I would name her Lila Lorraine. I've always loved the name Lila because I am adamant that a name has to be chosen that can be appropriate for a young girl and also for an older lady. I think it has a youthful elegance to it. Lorraine was my grandmother's name.

For a boy, I would choose Benjamin because it's my grandfather's name. FH wants Albert, because that was his father's name, but Albert has way to many nicknames/name calling problems - "Fat Albert", "Prince Albert", etc...so I think that might have to be a middle name...:)

The boy name we both love is James Robert Gregory. Robert being FH's middle name, Gregory after my grandma whose maiden name is Greig.

For a girl I love Sagan (Ana) Victoria (maybe another middle name). Sagan being after Carl Sagan the astronomer and personal hero to both of us, and Victoria being my middle name.

We want to name our first child Sagan, no matter the sex, but I'd much prefer if it was a girl, since there is an acceptable nickname, Ana.

Our naming scheme is first name we both agree on, middle name chosen by him, then middle name chosen by me. My chosen name and his can be interchanged to whatever sounds better, but this way neither of us feel like we had no say.

Both my father and his brother have two middle names and we thought that was pretty cool (if we have another boy I have NO clue what we will name him - we will have to come up with something as equally significant)

Names I like are for a girl, Ruby Amelia (both family names). I like Olivia (but i doubt DH would go for it) and Riley, too.

We like lots of names so it will be really hard to choose one when the time comes!

For a boy we have picked out Jeff Curtis Jr., John Gregory, and Patrick Joseph. For a girl we're a lot more undecided but right now we have Patricia Barbara, Katherine Elizabeth, and Virginia Kay (all of them are combinations of family names except Gregory, who is a very close friend and will be the godfather of one!).

I also like the name Leah Grace, but there's no family ties to it and I want the names to have meaning.

I don't blame you! One of my cousins used one of my favorite girl names, but I can't say for sure if I would have used it anyway :ooh:

So far, Matthew is the only boy name that FH and I both agree on. So, if we had a boy, that would likely be his name. Middle name is up in the air because FH wants his middle name but I agreed to take his last name with the knowledge that I could make our kids middle name my maiden name if I want to. Or, we might just choose another name altogether.

For girls... I just don't know. Her middle name will be Elizabeth, after my grandmother. For awhile we were set on Emma Elizabeth but now I'm not crazy about it anymore. Eh, we still have time!

My wife and I decided on "Eban" for our son. It's Hebrew for "Stone." Our son is adopted. His given birth name was "Jacob", but we changed that to his middle name. 1) Jacob is also Hebrew, and means "Deceiver." We didn't want him to have that name meaning. 2) However, we want him to maintain a connection to his birth mother (who is MIA), and so we kept it as his middle name.

Eban denotes a solid start to life, as he was adopted into a family that will care for him, and will provide a solid foundation to his life, rather than the uncertainty of being an orphan.

That's so sweet! I love me a good, strong, meaningful name!

My two favorite names are Kiera Jean and Dakota Rion. But, FH doesn't really like either one. :( Pretty much all we have come up with is that I want our first girl to have the middle name "Jean", just like her mommy and grandma. :winktongue:

The two girls names I love are Isabella and Kinley.
I always change my mind about boys names.

If we have a girl, we're naming her Kenly Marie. If we have a boy, we're naming him Jameson Woodlea. Marie after my grandma and great-grandma and Woodlea after hubby's dad. I like the names, Nathaniel and Madeleine too.
