I just got my new glasses...
and they are tri-focals. I'm 22!
After a long time of bad eyesight and reading for a living, the optomitrist suggested them to counter the eye strain that I was getting. I love them so far, as my eyes do not hurt. It's difficult to tell that's what they are, but I'm a bit self-conscious.
I was wondering, do any of you all wear glasses?
(poll coming)
(I hope this is the right forum!)

I've been told my eyes are pretty bad. My right eye is an 7.0 and my left is an 8.0. I have a coworker whose eyes are an 11.0! She really has coke bottles when she wears her glasses to work! :bbeek:
I've been wanting to get lasik, but I'm too chicken. They're the only eyes I'm ever gonna have! I mostly just wear my contacts during work, and then take them out as soon as I get home and wear glasses on the weekends.
I've never even heard of trifocals, but hey! If they help your eyes, more power to ya!

I mostly wear contacts, but I do also have glasses for the end of my long computer-staring days.
I have been near-sighted for who knows how long and I've known about it since a school eye test in middle school when they basically were like "Um, this girl has 20/200 vision..." so I got me some ugly glasses at age 11. The only ONE pair of glasses our poor person's health insurance covered.
Man was I excited to get contacts right before high school!
Now I have astigmatism too. Worse in my right eye even though my left eye is more near-sighted. I wear a regular lens in my left eye and a toric lens (for astigmatism) in my right eye. At this point my vision is not on the 20/x chart anymore, but I think they estimated it an equivalent of 20/400.
I have to wear glasses or contacts at all times, even if I'm reading up close enough, just because my eyes don't focus on just one spot and text looks kinda screwy even though it's not blurry.

Up until a few years ago I had better than 20/20 vision in both eyes. I think it was something like 20/15 and 20/10. Even though I have this odd 'ghost' or 'double' image (it's wierd to describe, and even more difficult in words) in my eyesight if I don't consciously use the muscles in my eyes to stop it from happening.
When I was in high-school the doctor told my mother that because of this I needed glasses. She agreed because she saw no way out of it but when we picked up the glasses at the hospital complex ( I was with her and I saw this, though I'm sure she's forgotten it now) she put my glasses in her purse and I never saw them again.
So I learned control, until it became instinctive. Now I have to work to let my eye muscles relax enough to *not* work, and to just let my eyes see the way they see, although like I said that's not very good because I have this blurry ghost image thing going on.
In college the dr. there told me not to worry about it, so long as I could control it myself I wouldn't need glasses because the prescription lenses were REALLY expensive and until I lost control, they wouldn't help much anyway.
Now, a few years on, yeah, it is getting more difficult, particularly when I'm REALLY tired, to control my eyes so I can see properly. Just a sign of getting older, I guess.
I have always had to close one eye to take the tests at the DMV or whatever, if I did it with both eyes open (like they say you're supposed to) all I see is a blank space, because of my wierd issue, which doesn't have a name.
I suspect by the time I retire I'll have glasses. But until then, no glasses for me.

I wear Glasses. I have a pair or reaction lenses. So the Boss knows when i've been outside for a sneaky Cigarette.
There's no way on this planet would i wear contacts. Even the thought of them makes My eyes water.
I would love to get the Surgery done to correct My Vision.
But then i would also want My teeth done, My hair dyed, Maybe a new head.

I voted other because I Really need glasses or contacts but I don't wear them.
I've had both ... Glasses make me feel like my eyes are crossing and give me a headache.
Contacts just feel like something is scratching my eye. Every time I blink the one on my right eye moves. Even thought the Dr. says it doesn't. lol

Blind as a bat here. Hehe. i think i have like -9 and -10 or something like that. =/ I can't even get freaking lasik! They said it'd cost more cuz my eyes are so bad.. Or some cr@p.
I did have contacts, but i found out the hard way that my eye makes too much sleep. >.< I got an eye ulcer, because the sleep in my eye got between my contact and eye. it SUCKED. No more contacts for me!! lol

I don't wear glasses or contacts, but I probably should. I can see well enough to pass the little test at the DMV, but I'm guessing that's even barely. And I can see without things being fuzzy. My left eye is a lot better than my right, but I'm not sure what the numbers are. I never really did understand those.

I wear contacts during the day and glasses at night. I really want to get Lasik, but I'm scared of the side effects. One of my colleagues got Lasik and now his vision is even worse. He paid thousands of dollars for it too. He chewed out the optometrist.

"Are you blind?" :bblol:
I said other; I am sure my vision is not 20/20, but I don't wear glasses and see fine.
I did wear glasses when I was a kid; I think mostly because one eye was weaker than the other. I had the "Popeye" thing when I was young, but it got better as I grew. Of course I can still tell that one eye is a little "off" looking, but it doesn't seem to affect my vision.

My distance vision was corrected to 20/15 with Lasik. LOVE IT. It was the best thing that ever happened to me because before I would have to put on my glasses just to get out of bed. I saw color blocks with no detail.
But I'm old and I need glasses to read. bifocals. One for the computer one for books.

I wear contacts when I go out, and glasses when I am lazy.
I would really love to get Lasik done. In a few years I probably will, and by then they'll probably have an even easier way to do it.

I wear contacts almost all the time, except at night or if I'm sick. My eyes are pretty bad, but not as bad as some of you!!
I know two people who have done lasik and they are all extremely satisfied with the reuslts.

My eyesight is pretty bad. I wear contacts now, but wore glasses almost all the way up until highschool. I was a HUGE nerd! I have really bad astigmatism in both eyes, too. My sister had bad eyesight, too, but she got Lasik and seems happy with it so far.

I said other. I have glasses but they're a really, really weak prescription. In fact, I don't know my numbers, but I think the prescription is only in my left eye. When I got them summer 2007 the doctor told me "You don't see BAD now.... just not as good as you did." I think my eyes are getting worse though but I need to wait till after the wedding to go to a doctor. I also have astigmatism.

I've worn glasses since I was 9, although I did try contacts for a couple of years in high school and college. If I could afford Lasik, I'd love to do that!
I've had corrective lenses since middle school. My vision w/ contacts is better than 20/20, but not so much with glasses, so I find myself wearing contacts for longer than I should..
My one wish is to be able to wake up in the middle of the night and see the time clearly without fumbling around for my glasses. I have friends who've had LASIK done and swear by it, and I'm sure I'll eventually get some sort of procedure done to make that wish come true, but I don't quite feel comfortable to go for it just yet.

i've had glasses since I was in 2nd grade. my vision is -0.09 -0.10
..........they won't correct in vision in the states, but I think they do in Canada =) My hubby had it done, it was REALLY worth it!!

I'm blind in my left eye (I can only see the E on the top of the chart, and even that's blurry), which also has serious astigmatism. My right eye is slightly better. I'm told I average out to about 20/200.
Contacts + astigmatism = HORRIBLE STABBITY PAIN, so I wear glasses that I sometimes remove for pictures. Everybody says they're Sarah Palin glasses, but I say she stole my style because I'm just that fabulous... to a 40-year-old. :lafhard:

I sure hope they can do it in Canada for cr@ppy eyesight like ours.. I freaking hate being blind. :(
I once lost my glasses because they feel off my table.. And onto a D&D book that was close to the same color. =/ RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE.
And i thought your eyesight was worse than mine, Dani.

A lot of people in my state were going to Canada to get it done - as far as I'm aware, it is less expensive in your country.
I'm surprised there are so few of us with naturally good eyesight!

Wait.. So is it cheaper or more expensive in Canada? LOL Sorry, i'm dumb.
And the reason i say such.. Here because our eyes are so bad, they said it'd cost like $10,000 per eye. O_O

I feel very fortunate because I have great vision. FH is blind as a bat without his contacts.

My eyes are all sorts of messed up. Legally blind in both eyes without corrective lenses (I can't even see the top letter on the eye chart. They're tricky here too. It's not an E, they have random ones that they just change on slides.) Astigmastism in both eyes. And I have warning signs for glaucoma that started at the age of 18. I have to have mandatory screening every year for the rest of my life, so they can try to catch it and stop it from getting worse if I do get it. My eye cupping is a 7 on a scale from 1-10. 10 being glaucoma. The average person's eye cupping is around 0.5-1.5.
Anyways, I wear contacts most of the time. The special ones for astigmastism(toric). I'll wear my glasses at home or out if I'm just not feeling like contacts. But I'm so used to not seeing myself in glasses that I feel weird wearing them. LOL

Oi! I misread that into thinking you're Canadian, whoops. Cheaper in Canada, as far as I am aware.

Haha, no no!
Actually, my auntie was going to help my sister and i (haha, almost spelt that 'eye' XD ) get lasik till we found out the cost.. And she doesn't want us to get it done in Canada, lol. So..

For both eyes at once, follow up visits and first pair of reading glasses $3000.00 And that is in Virginia. And they fixed my Astigmatism.

I have good vision. I don't need glasses. I do need to get my eyes checked, I haven't gotten that done in a couple years, and now I sit in front of a computer all say at my job.
FH needs glasses for distances. He needs to go get new ones, because he has 2 pairs of glasses, but he broke one pair and lost the other at the same time!

Im supposed to wear glasses, I don't though. Mostly because they make me dizzy because I cant stand things on my face, and i cant wear contacts because I hate to touch my eyes. lol
Ive got crappy eyesight though.
