I'm not sure this is in the correct place, but here goes...
So I went to the doctor (yay that's behind me!) and she prescribed me LoEstrin 1/20. Has anyone had any experience with this pill before? Even though I know everyone has different reactions to pills, I just wanted to see if anyone had any side affects/positive factors about this pill.

I wasn't on that exact brand but I was on a similar low-estrogen dose. The lower estrogen seem to have less side effects for most women. (Hence the lower estrogen level) Is this your first time on the pill? Did you swith BC pills for another reason? I was on the pill for many years (due to heavy periods) but have been off the last 3 because my body began "rejecting it." Instead of switching again I just went off of it.

It is my first time on the pill.

It is my first time on the pill.
Since it's your first time on the pill, I'd say a lower estrogen would be the best. Just pay attention to your body and stop taking it if it makes you feel really strange. :)

I'm on it! Except its LoEstrin 24, so I'm not sure if you have the 24 day one of the 21 day one.
I like it. My periods are light and usually come every other month now and not a lot of cramping. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo before too, it was bad. I was a psycho on it!

Hmm I've never heard of that one before.
I am on Ortho Tri-cyclen and have been for probably close to 10 years. When I first started on it it was low estrogen for sure since it was for extreme periods (like I'm talking 2 week flow and having one every 2 weeks). I've had no problems with it that I'm aware of anyways...lol
I say the low estrogen one is best especially with it being your first time. Google it on the internet as well and see if you see anything.

I tend to avoid BC pills all together. I was on something standard, couldn't recall the name for the life of me, and not only did I gain weight and have even more bizarre periods, but I was always really dizzy and light headed.
I'm not a fan of hormones in general, and wish I could find something that didn't effect me so badly. I'm not sure I'm willing to play "BC roulette" though, haha.
Most folks suggest the "low" versions nowdays. The only other one I hear recommended as much is the BC shot, actually. Though I was always too chicken to do that.
I have been on b/c for almost 9 years it really has done a number on me... I have absolutley no sex drive! Uggh. Makes you wonder what else it does.

I'm thinking of getting an IUD.
My sister now has one of those and has had it for a while now. She has had some issues with hers though and is finally having it removed next week.

I'm on Seasonique. It's one of those extended bc pills, so mother nature only comes knocking on my door 4 times a year. The first week I took them, I was a complete mess. My mood swings were horrible and I just wanted to crawl into the closet and stay there until I felt normal again. About a week later, I was fine. Works like it says it's supposed to, and I love it. The first 3-month pack can be a little weird with your body getting used to it, but other than that it's good. My chest got a little bigger, that's about it for side effects on me though.

I was pre-menopausal at the age of 22, so I was put on Seasonique and taking hormones and that was horrible so I was on lo-ovral and that was okay but still not taking care of the hot flashes and night sweats, so then it was ortho tri cyclen, which was horrible and now I'm on microestrin and so far so good, except for getting my period the week before the inactive pills. I know it's the lowest one, so i'm sure the lo-estrin will be fine for you.

My mom was on it for awhile (pre-menopausal) just to help regulate her periods. She never had any problems on BC...so I am hoping genetics will play a role when I start taking it next Sunday.

As for the IUD, girlggc, I hear they are safer / better now, but I'd still be careful.
My mother's IUD wound up piercing through the wall of her uterus and winding its way to her stomach. Which is why we have my brother, heh.

When I got married the first time, I got that Depo-Provera thing. Never again!
It ensured that I wouldn't get pregnant by taking away ALL of my sex drive and then some. And my physiology followed right along with it. Man, that got ugly real quick.
It took me about three-four years of being off of Depo and on absolutely nothing at all for me to get back to normal. Gah. What a miserable experience.
Right now I'm taking pills continuously though not Seasonique (though that may change by this time tomorrow!) and I haven't noticed anything. I've been on these particular pills for about 2 years, perhaps a little longer.
On the whole, BCP isn't a bad form of contraception, all things considered, and looking at what else is out there.
Fiance is looking into getting a vasectomy! We'll see if he actually goes through with it.
