My fiance and I went shopping for our wedding bands a while ago. We really liked this ring here http://www.tungstenworld.com/ZEUS-Platinum-950-Mens-Tungsten-Band/ but it was too expensive. So, we bought a pair of these http://www.tungstenworld.com/KRAFT-6mm-Tungsten-Wedding-Band/ instead. We really wanted to get the platinum ones though.

I spent the last few months saving and I have enough to buy a pair now. I want to give it to him for Valentine's day.

What do you think?

Well if you were both there when you got them and he is not going to wear it before the wedding then I don't know if I would try to give it as a v-day gift ... JMO.

It's like your engagement ring. If all he could afford was a half carat diamond. It would be insulting to upgrade it to a 2 carat diamond after a few years when you guys have more money. It's a symbol of where you guys were at at that point in the relationship.

OK I guess I was confused before ... so are you talking about giving him the ring you already bought together or buying him a new one? If you are thinking of buying a new one what are you going to do with the one you bought together?

I was thinking about buying the new one. When we first saw it we really like it but we ended up getting the cheaper one. Weddings soo expensive. The old ones I would still keep, they're still very nice.

I guess it is up to you, but if it was me I would stick with the ones you guys bought and use whatever money you have saved for something else. Maybe you can think of upgrading together later down the road if you want.

I think you should discuss it with him first. While some people have no problem at all with upgrading rings, other men (including mine) would get their feelings hurt over something like that. If both of you are cool with it, I say go for it!
