So far I've shunned a registry because we essentially have everything we need. But it occurred to me this weekend as I started the dryer (on the only cycle that works) again that there is something we could really use. Appliances!!

What would you think of an appliance registry? Our guests, if they want to, contribute to funds for new appliances. We could pick out each one we intend to buy (nothing extravagant) and have people contribute in set increments of $25 or something. It's just that if they really want to help us with things we need in the house, this is what we need! Anything else would be wasted money on their part. Thoughts?

Here's the deal:
Our clothes washer is ... ok, just old. Our dryer only works on the timed cycle, and you have to run it for longer than seems right. If you use any other cycle it will run until you stop it again because whatever timers or sensors are broken. As in, it has run all night before.

Our dishwasher spews dirty food water all across the top rack of the dishes. So you have to catch it before it hits the dry cycle and take out each bowl and cup from the top rack and give it a rinse.

Our stove is just ... crazy. It's an old Jenn-Air with weird plug-in cartridges of coils. One side is a "grill" leaving me with only 2 burners, one of which does not heat consistently.

Our fridge is just loud and seems like an energy hog, and the seal on the door is not great anymore.

Like You We have everything for the home. The only thing We really wanted to get was a new flat screen Digital TV. Ours was an old Analogue which has to be upgraded in time for the Digital Switch Over.

Because the UK don't Register for stuff. Whenever our Guests asked what We wanted We just said Vouchers for Argos (It's a massive Catalogue Shop in the UK that sells everything for the home)

After the Honeymoon We gathered all the Vouchers together and had enough for the TV.

Maybe You can ask Guests for Vouchers for certain Electrical Stores.

If i was a Guest i would go for it. A part "Share" in a New Dryer etc is better than hunting around for something You probably wont use.
Plus i wouldn't have to lug it home from the Shop, Wrap it and watch You lug it back home after the Wedding Day. :)

I think its a great idea, probably because we are doing the same thing, sorta. We are for sure registering for more expensive gifts rather than the average towel, pan, etc. because we have everything we need too. I know we will probably register for a new grill and patio set. I don't see anything wrong with it.

I think its a good idea too! It is a lot more polite than just asking for money, and you are still able to have a registry and people could pick which appliance they wanted to contribute towards!

Hey, it couldn't hurt to put it on a register. Thats something a lot of people could get together and do. *^^*

Now this is just my opinon but I'm not a huge fan of putting pricey items on a registry. I guess it would all depend on how it is set up. I know I went onto a registry one time for a girl I went to high school with and the first item listed on their registry was a $1500 big screen TV and I was like woah.

I think if set up like how you want it where people can put an increment towards it that is great but if it can't be done that way I think I'd be careful so as not to offend guests and have them think you expect one person to buy it. IMHO
