Remember how I had to change my colors and them and what not?? Well I decided on the Periinkle blue and Kiwi Green colors...I met with my florist yesterday becuase I wanted Periwinkly blue and a touch of green Hydrangias. Yeah right.....The cost for flowers for just my and the bridesmaids is well over budget I even compared prices with other florsit....My bouquet alone would cost $400.00. So, I thought well my BM's could carry white and I could just do mine. Then that screwed with my idea of having the same flowers in the centerpieces too! UGHH!! I also thought about using anouther flower but it's so hard to even find blue flowers let alone deep periwinkle. My fiance says he doesn't like the blue so much and wants to change colors. All I can say is I am so glad I have 14 months. My goal was to have everything planned done well before hand so I wouldn't have to worry about it, however I find myself getting more and more confused with what I want to do. So I'm giving up for awhile. Taking the summer off from even thinking about my wedding right now.
Plus, my best friend is getting married in september! I can't wait. I just picked our bm dresses up on saturday. I have to take it back to get it altered closer to august then after that I'll post a pic. The color is claret and is just perfect! So, even though my mind is going to be off of my big day for a few months, I still be around posting here then in august I'll finalize my color scheme and pick out the dresses then!

Aww i'm sorry your original idea for flowers cost so much! I was really disapointed to find out the flowers i wanted (the would be blooming in my moms yard) would cost me $10 a stem. Going back to the drawing board is no fun! White flowers against your preiwinkle and kiwi dresses would look wonderful! And then do something colourful and bright for yourself.
As for you FH not liking the colours. Talk to him about what colours he would like to have in the wedding. Knowing both of you are happy with the colour combinations makes it alot easier to plan.
Taking some time off from planning isn't a bad idea either. You definatly have lots of time to spare. Enjoy the summer and you're friends wedding! When you are ready. Pick up a couple bridal mags to see what inspires you!
Have Fun! Good Luck!

Sorry about the flowers. I know that totally sucks when you have your heart set on something and it's over the budget. At least you still have 14 months to go! Have a great summer and I hope you have a blast at your best friend's wedding!

Sorry to hear your having trouble.....But have you checked into the artificial flowers? You usually have way more of a selection as far as colors and there is also the option of "dyeing" the real flowers to the colors you want.
Of course, you really need to finalize the colors first, huh? I had trouble getting things lined up at 1st too, Brian was also giving me a hard time with colors. He was the one that chose them, but as soon as they were finalized, EVERYTHING else seemd to just fall into place!
Good Luck!!!

You don't have to change colors...just find colors that would compliment your periwinkle blue and green...like yellow! Lots of flowers come in yellow! (Sorry, kind of partial to yellow.)
Black and white weddings are insanely popular right now and there aren't that many black flowers! (Okay, honestly, I can't think of any.)
You could play around with color combos. I wanted all roses, but to keep the cost down, my bms had tulips instead. I still had my roses, but I picked a smaller bouquet (I also asked that they have the roses REALLY open, which made it look bigger). Good luck!

There are roses that come in black. It's a not a pure pure black. But a black with a hint of brown. They are neat. But they feel a little sad to me.
With black and white weddings you could do a really bright colour for the flowers like yellow or pink. That would be pretty. Or orange.... ooohhhh lol. No my mind is rolling! lol!

I did a black and white wedding with all white flowers. Here are some pretty bouquets that I found that I think would look nice with perwinkle (or other shades of blue so you have more wiggle room with you FH). If you FH is dead set against the perwinkle than how about a shade of purple. That will still give the same overall effect and look good with the kiwi green.

Wow Lacey, you were busy!
I agree with what Kelli mentioned. There are lots of nice accent colors that you could bring in with the periwinkle and green. I love her idea for the yellow. That would look really nice! Maybe that would help on getting FH to agree on the colors.
Take a few days or weeks off from the planning. You have the time. I also got frustrated in the beginning when I had to keep changing what I had in mind (I still get to that point!) It definatly helped to take some time away from it all. Then it wasn't so overwehlming when I sat back down at it again. Good luck Hon!

Good luck..and I also agree that you should consider some accent colors that might go great and offer you more of a variety!!!

hmmmm ... You could talk to your florist again and ask them what they suggest to compliment or match your colours. After all - you are paying them for their design ability yes, but also for their wealth of knowledge.
I remember a grade school thing that we did with carnations - taking white carnations and putting them in a vase full of coloured water .... the coloured water was sucked up and the edges of the carnation changed to the colour of the water. Now I know carnations aren't most people's first choice but perhaps they can do the same sort of thing with another flower.
Heck ... I know that there are floral sprays out there .... maybe they can take white roses and spray them???
It's worth investigating.
