So...I hate writing about myself so this will be short and sweet!

Brandon and I (Kristan) met about 8 years ago thru a mutual friend. We were 16 (me) and 17 (him) at the time. We've basically been inseparable ever since!

In 2006 Brandon was offered a job I'm Michigan and with out hesitation I moved with him.

We got engaged Sept of '08 and have been planning our wedding ever since.

Our orginal idea was to head to Mackinac Island to get married but we got cought up in the-well what if so and so can't come? So we considered a wedding back home in Kansas. After finding out that all of the decent locations were booked solid we went back to our orginal plan-Mackinac!

Location, location, location.....

For those who don't know, Mackinac Island is located between the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan.

You have to take a high speed ferry to get to the island and no motorized vehicles are allowed on the island. Transportation is via horse, horse and buggy, bicycle or walking.

Locations:

The locations we are considering include...

Mission Point Resort - http://www.missionpoint.com/about.html
Hotel Iroquios - http://www.iroquoishotel.com/
The Inn at Stonecliff - http://www.theinnatstonecliffe.com/
Somewhere in Time Gazebo - http://www.mackinacparks.com/weddings/index.aspx?l=0,1,6,271

We will rent a large carriage for the guests and a private carriage for B and I so we can take pictures and tour the island after the ceremony.

Reception will take place at either the hotel or the Yankee Rebel Tavern if we go with the SIT gazebo.

Clothing....

We are aiming for a vintage (not Victorian!) feel to the wedding so here's my thoughts on clothing!

I haven't been to any bridal shops to look at dress yet but someone here posted this dress that I LOVE!! Would do it in all white or ivory and see if I could get the sash in an accent color.

I would also love to get this dress for the reception (since I can't afford a Stephanie James dress!) It's the pink/salmon one on the front.

I'm not going to make B wear a full on tux, so I was thinking of going with just a brown vest and pants and an ivory shirt under. I think he's going to wear his Chuck Taylors as well!

I would so do the whole "Somewhere In Time" to the wedding. It was a movie back in the 80's with Christopher Reeves and oh, all I can think of is Dr. Quinn. crud Old Age has caught up with me once again. I'm sure if you google the movie it will come up. Cool movie about time travel and a good love story. It took place a the hotel on Mackinaw island.

So the wedding photographer that I MUST HAVE had one date booked in 2010...and guess which date.

What's even more freaky is that the brides' name is Kristan as well...and it's at the same hotel! That's like Twilight Zone freaky!

So we are looking into different dates already!

That's strange. Are you sure that someone did book her/him for you? I hope it works out for you.

Well, after a rough year of Brandons grandma having her cancer come back we are back on track. We've changed the date and location, but it's still on!

Plans have change since most of the family has to come to MI from KS, so we decided to have the wedding closer to us in West Michigan. We are getting married at Tunnel Park in Holland!

Still trying to find a backup location in case of weather (who knows, it may be snowing at the end of May!) as well as a place that will accommodate our small group for our reception.

Here's our invite mock ups (will be all bronze and pistachio, I just used what I had laying around!)

Everything will obviously be printed and not scribbled!!

And here's the dress...I told myself that we were having a beach casual wedding and I didn't need a poofy dress....guess what I picked out?

Yeah...a poofy dress...with EXTRA crinoline to make it super poofy!

My mom's fiance just bought a limo so they will drive it up from Kansas. So transportation is handled!

Photographer is booked! Preacher is booked!

So just need to secure a location for inclement weather and the reception...oh and the million other things that need to be done!

Decided not to do my own invites from scratch. I got one of the Brides kits from Michaels. The kit came with brown ribbon but I used green instead.

Just have to get postage for the RSVP cards then I can get everything put together and try out my new wax seal! So much fun!

I've also been working on our centerpieces. I put this together pretty quick this afternoon. Let me know which you like better?!

We've booked our minister, reception site and have put a deposit down on the cake. Just need to decide what I'm going to do about my bouquet and everything else should be done! Whew!

Thank you!!

I love the moss one too. I think I may put brown sand in the next mock up because something just doesn't look right about it.

So Brandon FINALLY picked out a ring...and I think he did pretty good!

How cool is that!

I also got my hairpiece. Still not 100% sold on it, but we'll see how it looks with my hair done. I think I'm going to end up doing a casual half up with a little bump.

I had my make-up trial today. Loved it! Didn't get a good picture of it, but she did a smokey green eye and natural lips. Looked awesome!

Also got a photo of the mock up of my bouquet.
