I'm trying to make a scalloped edge like in the picture above. I'm using the template from http://www.gartnerstudios.com/skuDetail.cfm?sku=77202&query=fan&page=1&order=relevance
I can draw the straight lines for the sides of the fan, but I can not recreate the scalloped edge in Word or Publisher. No I haven't bought the Brides fans. Honestly, they cost too much. That's why I am trying to recreate the shape so I can make them myself. Anyone have any ideas? I don't have photoshop or any drawing/drafting programs. All I have in Microsoft Office programs. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Apparently there are tutorials on how to make a scallop edge in photoshop, but I don't have that program. :(

You can download a trial of photoshop ...

Try Photoshop Elements 7 or Creative Suite® 4 Design Premium

you know you could easily make a stencil you like and just use a razor to cut it...or you could intentionally make each fan a little different and not 100% uniform. Sometimes when you make things intentionally a little off they can look just as good as when they are perfectly symetrical...Or you can try to find a die cut and go to a local craft store, like Michaels...

Just a couple ideas...

I just have to say that those are really pretty programs - I love them.

hmm Dont they make a cutter or some sort for this. Could you put the info where you wanted it.. And print them out on the paper you want.. but then cut them using a cutter. Kind of like a corner cutter or a border cutter.

If that don't work, then you will be forced to cut them on your own using an exacto knife.

Remember when we were little girls, we would take a piece of line paper, fold it in half, then cut out a half of heart? When you opened it, it was a perfect heart!

Well, how bout doin something like that. I would suggest making a template first. Take a piece of line paper or printer paper, and fold it in half, then draw or cut out the half shape. It might take a few tries to get it right, but it will be uniform. Then when you do have it right, make a stronger (card stock) template. Open your begining (line paper) template, and trace it on some card stock. Dont throw out the begining template, cuz the cardstock template might get run down from tracing the edges, and you might have to make a new cardstock template of the exact same shape.

I hope this will help!

I have considered buying a sample fan, and making a template from that. I just need to find somewhere that sells them. That's the tricky part.
