Hi! I'm new to this forum, but was pretty pumped to find it!
I am looking at ordering my flowers from 50roses (dot) com. Is anyone familiar with this site and their products or any other online flower wholesaler. Their prices are more than half off what our local florist has quotes us. However, sometimes you get what you pay for and I want to ensure I'm not going to get crappy wilty flowers.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I ordered bulk flowers for my cousin's wedding in October and will be doing the same for my own in May. There are a lot of great sources out there, and as long as you're both willing to do some work yourself (or have some very willing friends), AND you're not looking for large dramatic "arranged" floral work (for which you might be better with a pro's skill), you can have great flowers for a reasonable price!
If you check in the DIY section, there's an entire area on DIY flowers with some great reviews/guides and various websites that are good sources. If you have a sam's club membership (or know someone who does or are willing to buy one for ~$30), I would STRONGLY recommend their flowers - of 3 different web sources I used, they were hands-down the best for packaging and quality of flowers.

Well 50roses.com seems to be new, the website is not even up and running yet. There is a fiftyflowers.com that has been around a while; I have heard mostly good things about them ... other than we seem to get alot of spam for them :snide:
I found this posted in another similar thread a while back and thought I would share it here too ...
I have been hoarding sites for wholesale fresh flowers for a while. I know this isn't a complete list - I'm looking specifically for gerbera daisies or daffodils, so any place that didn't have either of those didn't get marked. I ended up with a spreadsheet to compare the different amounts/prices and keep track of who charges shipping separate.
2G Roses (freshroses.com) - first place I started, have great "sample" options for roses, but are a little pricey for gerbs. 40 gerbs for $107, 10 mini callas for $36 - shipping extra.
Growersbox.com - 84 gerbs for $222, includes shipping.
samsclub.com - 80 gerbs for $65, includes shipping. 48 roses for $80. (Not sure on quality!)
Globalrose.com - 135 gerbs for $110. Includes shipping.
Costco.com - 80 gerbs for $90. Also offer premade bouts/corsages- 15 for $160, includes shipping.
fiftyflowers.com - 60 gerbs for $90. Offer "wedding packs" of flower mixes that seem affordable if you're buying a large amount. Mini callas 30/$170
Americanfloraldistributors.com - 40 gerbs/$85, 10 mini callas/$35. Shipping included
Flowerbud.com - 80 gerbs/$170, shipping included
Bloomsbythebox.com - 10 gerbs/$25, shipping = $50 per $200
FLowersandfreshness.com - 50 gerbs/$57, shipping included.
Sunkingwholesale.com - 135 gerbs/$137, shipping included.
In general, there are a lot of options and most of them are reasonable. I haven't started contacting these folks to determine customer service, but at this point I'm planning to order a test batch from Sams to see what their quality is like, and then probably order from two different sources for the wedding itself. For instance, a small order from both flowersandfreshness and globalrose will provide us with enough flowers even if one turns up wilted or doesn't arrive, and will give us plenty of "extra" if everything's perfect (after all, what's the harm with a few more flowers than required?) If we buy 100 mixed gerberas and 140 mini gerbs, plus greenery, we'll still be under/around $200 for a TON of flowers! (Compared to a florist order.)
Good luck! Wholesale flowers can be very reasonable, but it takes a bit of shopping around to get the best flowers for the price.

You can also order bulk roses from Costco and Sam's club and you can do it on line. There pricing is very competative and if I remember right they guarantee the roses too.
