Our favors arrived today - quite happy with them. Although I was a little mad that beside the price I've already paid ($275 once price and shipping converted to CDN $) that I got hit with another $85 for duty and brokerage! Darn you American companies....lol...

It looks like the cover is printed in black when I had ordered brown but I guess its something minor....FH likes them as well....sorry some of the pics aren't great - hard to photograph. Edit - now that the pic is posted of them, the printing does look brown...I feel bad for emailing the company and complaining now....oh well

The camera cards have now been made...We used place cards that came with one of my kijiji purchases, the logo from the candle, etc. and a poem I found from someone on here. We did 10 of them as I have 10 cameras for the tables.

Edit - sorry the 1st pic is kind of blurry.

I love it! :) The tees are such a great favor. I think that they'll be a hit.

The compacts are so cute. I think that's something your girls will really appreciate. The purses are awesome and your shoes are great!

Thanks for all the pics! It's so nice to see everything come to fruition. :)

Alterations are done on my dress and my sister's dress and the lady only charged $40 for the 2 dresses!!! Yay!! What a great deal!

Sorry I don't have any pics of it altered but it looks amazing. So I am trying to watch what I am eating for the next several weeks. Increasing my water intake (I really don't drink hardly any as I hate the stuff unless it's super cold - but I have managed 4 glasses today which is really good for me) and more fruits and veggies.

So we've been talking about our honeymoon more lately and I think we may be going to Niagara Falls....We can drive there, although neither of us have been there so we could end up getting lost....lol

FH found a package that includes a helicopter ride over the falls - how cool would that be? Eeeh I'm so excited ladies!

I'm so stuck on selecting the music for the special dances, etc.

I know my father and I will dance to Butterfly Kisses and I've decided on Single Ladies by Beyonce for the bouquet toss.

FH isn't being helpful picking out a first dance song. We don't really have a song - what we consider our song is Angel by Shaggy because it would play on the radio every time we got in the car together.....definately not appropriate for our first dance.

Why is something so simple as music so hard to pick????

Any thoughts ladies?

I love the purses you got for you and your mom and I think the favors are soooo cute! I love how they are packaged!!

The tees are an awesome idea - and the way you tied in the golf theme with those invites looks great!!

The compacts and purses are gorgeous - and something they will appreciate for a long time.

As for songs go - I don't know what kind of music you like, and I know its used a lot but "Better Together" by Jack Johnson is good..
Its not too slow, the music is fun, and Jack Johnson always has good lyrics.

If you like country.. "Thought I Loved You Then" by Brad Paisley is good..

I think we're going to use Don Williams' "I Believe In You"

Sooooooo remember that exam I wrote back in June???

Well today was the day we finally got our marks back - and..................................

I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

So that means a promotion & raise for me!!! :)

I'm so glad I passed - only 4 more exams and I can have CGA after my name and be done studying.

Congratulations on passing!!! That's awesome news!! :)

Love the tees as your favor! They're wicked cute!

FH and I are going to use Then by Brad Paisley for our first day song. Others we thought about was Me & You by Kenny Chesney, Amazed by Lonestar, or I Could Not Ask For More by Sara Evans.

And those camera cards were cute as well. That's a really creative idea for the cameras. Love it! :)

So my dad tells me tonight that I need to have a list of songs to the DJ by Friday!!

So I told FH and he told me to just go ahead and just pick what I wanted. I kinda snapped a bit because one of the songs still needing a decision is our first dance and well I don't want to make the decision myself.

So I told him my top 2 picks - When You Say Nothing At All or Could Not Ask For More....he didn't know either song so he went on You Tube and didn't like either of them......so back to the drawing board.

After a few minutes we decided on Everything by Michael Buble for our first dance.

My dad and I are going to dance to Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle.

Bouquet toss song is Single Ladies - Put a Ring on it by Beyonce

and FH picked Hey Ya by Outkast for the garter toss....why I'm not sure but it was on the list as he likes to say....so thats what it is.

He is going to call his mom tomorrow to find out a song for their dance...every time I've asked before she laughed so I don't know what thats about.

I think that basically settles all the songs for the reception....I'm not too concerned about a cake cutting song as right now it hasn't been finalized whether it will be the sax player or the DJ - I'm assuming the sax player but hard to say. I'm meeting with the sax player on Saturday so I'll know more then.

Do these song choices sound ok???

yam102284
07-29-2009, 08:02 PM
I think those song choices sound great! :) I love Butterfly Kisses and want either that or I Loved Her First for my father/daughter dance. But I'm worried about it being too sappy and crying too much. I'm totally an over-emotional person like that LOL

Are you gonna "shake it like a polaroid picture" when he takes the garter off? LOL :winktongue:

Picking music was really hard for us too - it took months of on and off conversation before we could compromise on something we'd both be happy with.

You're getting lots done! I felt that nervous feeling when we went to do our marriage license, also. It felt so much more real! But it was also really exciting. And it's good that you guys got yours much earlier than we did. Eddie picked ours up on the Friday before the wedding! Anywho, I like the favors and the camera poem; they are cute.

Thanks ladies!

I cannot believe we only have 17 more days!!! Aaah I feel like I have so much left to do. I wish I could take some time off from work but it's way too busy, so evenings and weekends will have to do.

I'm very indecisive and I'm kind of glad that we waited a bit to decide the music as I'm sure I would have changed my mind a gazillion times by now.

The only reason we got the marriage license as early as we did is because both of us have to be there and since the office held a shower for us and the license place is basically across the street from my work, it worked out well for us to go.

So my (god love him) stopped by the golf course to finalize the details there for me on his way home from work. I had given him a list of questions and here is what was finalized:

we can bring in our own wine for the toasts - no corkage fee, dad has to meet her somewhere so we don't actually carry the wine in ourselves
they will cut the cake for us and there is no fee for that
the decorator can go in anytime the Friday before
they require a 15% tip
the meal is $13.50 - giving us last years' prices since that is what we were quoted when we booked (new mgmt this year and they raised the prices)
the meal will be the traditional turkey dinner with the fixings (which by the way I actually got to have last weekend as we went there for my parents anniversary lunch and it was the special so I decided to try it out since we don't do tastings here)
bar closes at 2am
decorations have to be down by 7pm Sunday although they would prefer sooner
bar prices:

Beer $3.75
Draft $3.25
Pitcher $12.00
Corono $4.50
Coolers $4.50
Wine $4.00
Single $3.75
Double $7.50
Premium $4.50
Double Premium $8.50And they are letting us use golf carts for pictures at no cost!

I'm sure that makes you feel better having some of those little details ironed out. And Horrah for getting last years prices!! It sounds like everything's working out well - and bar prices are reasonable, so nobody should have any complaints!!

Only 1/2 a month to go!!

Thanks ladies!

Things are starting to come together - thank goodness.

We met with the minister tonight and finalized the ceremony - except for those 2 spots we are still undecided on which FH & I will iron out.

I'm meeting the sax man tomorrow and finalize the ceremony music and I'm just waiting for FH to pick a song for him and his mom to dance to at the reception.

Bought the wine bottles and corks today for the boxes of wine that will be putting on each table. $11.99/dozen bottles and we got 2 dozen and then $4.49 for the corks.

My sister is also coming down tomorrow - not sure what all she has planned so we will see...

Thanks ladies! Wow what a busy and exhausting weekend - thank goodness today was a holiday - yay provincial holidays. So I have 4 more days of work and then I am off! Yikes - it's going to be the longest 4 days ever and I so wish I was off this week too.

So it was a crazy weekend. Saturday morning I got up and went to the local farmer's market where I was suppose to meet my sister and parents who were coming down and my sister was going to spend the night. We were meeting there to meet with the saxophone player as he had a booth to promote his CD.

When I got there I got ambushed by my sister and my other bridesmaid who brough the bus up to my city which is 1-1.5 hours from her. The threw a t-shirt on me that said Bride to Be that my BM had made, a tiara with a veil that said Bride to Be, a pink boa and a wand....so it was quite the site...lol

Had the meeting with the sax player which was great....dad got to hear him and he really liked him....because I'm not too concerned about the music for the ceremony - it's only in a few spots - we are going to finalize that at the rehearsal. But I did tell him I would like to walk down to Canon in D which he currently doesn't have so he is going to see what he can do for me.

After the market, we went to the food court at the mall with my parents for a bite to eat. Then my parents left and the girls and I had some time to kill until our appt at 4 which I still didn't know what it was.

We walked the mall and ended up at La Senza, the lingerie store....man did I ever buy a hot outfit for the wedding night....I'm so excited....so there was $100 I didn't plan on spending...lol...and keep in mind - I"m still in my bachelorette garb and like every sales person at the store was waiting on me...lol...anyways it should be smoking hot...lol

So then we had to go to my car and my girls had wine and coolers in their luggage with glasses that my sister made that said Bride, etc. We needed those for our appt at 4 which was back in the mall.

At 4 they had booked pedicures for the 3 of us at a day spa in the mall called Merle Norman. It was super nice and they let us bring the drinks in and everything. The only sucky part was the 3 of us couldn't be in the same room. My BM was by herself and then my sister & I were in another room. BM was done first and then came and sat with us while we were finished.

While we were there my sister slipped and told me what the next appt at 7 was which was a trip to the movies....we went and seen the Ugly Truth which they didn't realize I had plans with another friend later this week to see....it was a good movie from what I remember....we ended up sitting in the front row and we had been drinking so I think it will be ok to go again with my other friend...lol...

Then we headed to a pub for some munchies and drinks....I got a free shot there called a Muff Duff.....lots of whipped cream and a shot inside the other glass....had some nachos and another drink which really wasn't that good.

Then we walked to Doolys as my sister wanted one of their shots. Turns out the girl working didn't know what my sister was talking about - it was a shot that tasted just like a pink/red jolly rancher....so we had the Skittles shot instead and my god did it ever taste like skittles...lol....then we lounged in their big comfy chairs and couch for a while....I was so ready for bed - I"m not much of a party animal.

But my sister wanted to go to the gay bar as they are suppose to be the best dance club around so we were game for a bit.....what a disappointment that was....we got in and the music sucked and everyone in was dressed like zombies! It was so weird....we left within 15 minutes - so not worth the $12 my sister paid for the 3 of us to get in.

We then walked downtown and got a cab and came home....at 11:30....me and BM were feeling pretty old at 25 & 26 compared to my 19 year old sister...lol....

When we got home we had to be quiet as FH was in bed and had to get up at 6am the next day. God love him he made up the spare bed and a bed on the couch for the girls.

Got up the next am and had to take BM to the bus station as her bus left at 11:30.

Then sister and I came back to the house to tidy up and clean up and then I drove my sister back to my parents an hour away where I stayed until supper timeish tonight.

ChristineLS

SO CLOSE! :D

Reading the last entry, about Canon in D... he can't play it. Here's the thing about Canon in D, coming from a clarinetist who used to play it a lot in church (me) - it's in four parts. So either the saxophonist would need to find a recording with a part missing that he would play, or grab three friends.

As we played it:

There is the flute part, the rising eighth notes
There is the bass part, the down beats.
There is the clarinet part that eventually splits in two - the half notes that people consider Canon in D.

Now the thing about half notes is that they are pretty non-descript, they just descending half notes. It sounds like a scale by itself - it's the tension of the chords that line up according to the way it's written. One musician cannot make chords happen, unless they are performing on an instrument that can hit multiple notes at once (so a piano, an organ, or a Hilary Hahn-ly skilled violinist). Everyone is playing significantly different parts throughout the whole thing. That's part of what gives it the distinctive feel.

I think the best course of action may be to Ipod Canon in D, and let the saxophonist show off the rest of the reception :)

I went to a gay bar a couple years ago, and I had a bad experience too. I get felt up by a drag queen. I'm sorry, just because you're not attracted to me doesn't mean you're exempt from basic respect.

So I go from a great high of the girls night and getting things done at my parents to a really low point.

So I told FH to call his mom and remind her that our engagement pic is in the paper tomorrow....man do I ever wish I didn't.

She started a fight with him over the brother thing....then she asked about the rehearsal dinner and if we were having one....he said yeah it's at Ashley's parents place and now she is feeling left out....hello you don't wait until 12 days before the wedding!!!!!!!!!!!! Never once did they go ahead and ask about having one before, etc. Plus FH knowing their financial situation didn't bother bringing it up...so my parents just went ahead.

Then she said my dad insulted his dad so Matt asked her what was said and she "couldn't remember." They are doing everything in their power to turn Matt against my parents - first it was my mom now my dad.....and they are mad at me...

Conversation went on for like 45 minutes...and it ended by her saying that unless she hears otherwise she isn't coming to the wedding.....

I'm so at a loss of what to do - I'm crying, he's crying etc.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH as if I don't have enough f***ing stuff to deal with!:irked:

He plays with a CD in the background so I think it should be ok....I just think he has never heard of it before because I had to repeat the name a couple of times and tell him how to spell it so we will see....he was going to look into seeing what he could get in time....if not I guess I will have to find something else.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with this Drama.. I can't believe a MOM of all things would be so harsh towards her son and the woman he loves! I hope this gets resolved, or at least the two of you (you and FH) come to peace with the situation.

Thanks - she's always chosen the oldest son over the other 2. I've been around for almost 9 years now and have seen it since day 1.

Thanks ladies! I sure hope so!

I didnt sleep last night at all - just like laid there. My nerves seem to be shot at the moment thanks to her and I just tossed and turned. My body acted as if I was home by myself last night - jumping at every noise, etc. and FH was sound asleep next to me.

Today is going to be an extremely looooonnnnnnnnngggggggggg day at work - blah. I am so tired and feel so sick to my stomach over this. I can't even enjoy my last few days of wedding planning.....I'm beyond pissed at this moment.

Never in my life have I ever seen a mother have so much hate on for a son and wish to make him miserable.

FH did the told you so comment about eloping last night and I was like I know I'm sorry but seriously never in my wildest dreams would I have thought there would have been this much bs and he's like I know eh?

I'm on the flipside. I've never seen somebody have so much hate for their mother, but can also relate to a mother not caring about her son with all the drama between Dan's mom and him.

Oooh, I'm glad it was a no. We got one of those 2 weeks before and it was a YES and we had to rearrange everything, pay more money, the whole nine yards - and THEN the person DIDN'T SHOW UP! That made me flip my lid. Well, not at the time, but after the wedding day bliss has worn off and I had time to think about it.

TEN DAY!?!? I can't believe it. You must be out of your mind right now. You've been doing so well though - everything must be close to done by now, right? :)

LOL Thanks!

Things are getting done....mom & my grandmother finished the bubbles last night.

My to do list right now includes:
- buy candy for the candy buffett
- programs
- table cards for grandparents, etc for reception - the rest will be open seating
- write my vows
- menu cards
- shadow boxes for parents
- add ribbon & golf charms to toasting flutes & knife set
- pay for things
- get e-ring cleaned
- get hair dyed

I'll double check later when I have the list in front of me but that seems like the big things.

No way!! A YES? At 2 WKS?.. Guys, I was all confident that this little simple wedding I was planning was going to go smooth as can be. But all of you have got me nervous, wondering when someone's going to do something to screw things up!! AH!

Oh ya - we got a wedding gift today. A coworker of mine (actually one of the Directors) who isn't able to make it to the wedding brought me this huge gift bag.....I got it home and FH & I opened it together....it was this beautiful quilt which I have a feeling his wife made....it's big enough to use as a bed spread.....I'll have to get pictures.

And in other exciting news...............my raise is official and will be on my next pay which is when I'll be on my honeymoon and they are retroing it back until July 28th! Woohoo!

Thank you so much! Unfortunately she is like this all the time - not just with the wedding.

As a bit of an update....as of yesterday they are coming but we shall see as it's still 9 days away. FH called her yesterday and they talked and thats all I know....he didn't seem to want to talk about it so I let it go.

Thank you all for your support dealing with this craziness! It's just been driving me crazy and I feel thankful for having you all to vent to.

Thanks ladies!

I'm off work now for the next 2 weeks...so thankfully I will still have time to tackle my to do list this week.....with all the drama this past week, I really haven't done anything.

Hair is getting dyed today, Matt is getting a haircut, and we're working on the programs at my parents. Oh ya, we're buying the wine today too.

FH has to work tomorrow so it won't be a late night in our hometown today but I think I will have to go back tomorrow to do some things...thankfully its only a 45minute to 1 hour drive so it's not too bad.

I'll soon have a lot of pics to post as there is a fair bit of DIY that I haven't taken pictures of.

Awwwwwwww. I'm super excited for both you, Ashley, and you, Christine. I can't believe how quickly both of your days are coming up!

I cannot wait to see how all of these marvelous plans come to fruition. Such an exciting time! :soppy:

The lovey dovey thing is awesome. Isn't it nice to be able to sit back and feel confident in your decision? That's how I felt - I thought I was going to be so nervous in the days leading up to the wedding - going so far as to telling my mom and everyone to leave me be the morning of to sit and contemplate - but then when the morning came I realized I'd already contemplated long ago and I was just ready to go down the aisle! Wedding planning done, it was just all about DH. :) Enjoy your lovey dovey time and savor the next few days. It'll fly by!!!

Thanks ladies!!!

Today was a rather productive day!

Got my hair dyed....Love the color.
Bought the wine - 4 4 litre boxes
Poured the wine into the bottles that we bought - had enough for 20 bottles - corked them and then put our personalized label one them.
Made & printed the menu cards
Designed the programs and my mom is suppose to be printing them tonight and the assembly will be done tomorrow
Printed labels and put them on the candy bags
Decorated a basket for the candy bags
Put the bow on the basket for the bubbles

I'm going back to my parents tomorrow where we'll assemble the programs and look at getting some of our engagement pictures printed off and framed for around the reception site.

I will take pics tomorrow I promise.

Monday I am devoting to writing my vows....I'm having such a hard time finding the right words to say.

So today I got the few reserved seating cards done that I wanted to do for grandparents & the MC & his wife....the rest is open seating.

We also got the programs almost all done....we ran out of the glue to hold the ribbon together so my dad is getting more tomorrow and my mom is going to finish them.....they look great.

I also gave my mom a bunch of stuff I had purchased for her - her purse, compact and a broach I got for her. I gave them to her early to save a scene Friday night at the rehearsal since I didn't get FMIL anything like that.

At the rehearsal, I will present both sets of parents with a shadow box with momentos of the wedding. Then both will receive picture albums after the wedding.

We also bought zippered hoody sweatshirts to have matching jackets the day of for getting ready...unfortunately they are grey as there aren't white, brown, pink or turquoise ones around at all!

Pictures of the wine we did up - what we did was buy 4 boxes of 4litres of wine (2 boxes of white & 2 boxes of red). We then bought wine bottles & corks and borrowed the corker machine from the local brewery and put the boxed wine in the bottles we bought.

We then attached labels with our name & date. Wine is for the toasts & we ended up with 10 bottles of each.

Well the guys' tuxes are in! Got the email from Moore's this afternoon! Yay....I'm so glad they came in early as they had originally told me Thursday which wasn't leaving much time in my opinion in case they didn't fit.

The only gamble will be FH's BM who is his younger brother since he now moved to another province after ordering the tuxes....he's not expected to be back until Thursday but not sure if it will be in time before the store closes so it might be Friday.

FH is going to go tonight and the other groomsman is going tonight or tomorrow night. I've contacted my dad and so he's on vacation this week so I'm sure he'll make arrangements to come down early. FH is going to call his dad tonight to get him to come down.

Also contacted the decorator so just waiting to hear back.

I'm in a rather down mood right now, FMIL called FH at work and started the whole brother thing again.....told him to be a man and stand up to me and tell me he wants his brother there or she was going to call my mom and get her involved.

So he wanted me to call her to save her calling my mom....so I did.....what a waste of my time and my air. I'm at home by myself crying and shaking and getting to the point of hatred.

And no she doesnt stop....I think she has some serious issues that she needs to deal with.

Some people! I just asked for her support and happiness and she said that thats hard to do when we've been totally excluded not seeing a guest list or anything....I told her that wasn't true Matt asked her who she wanted invited (which is more then I did with my parents) and all she did was laugh....like hello you aren't paying anything so why would I run everything by you? And oh wait? Have you once ever asked how plans were coming along? NO!

She told me I was being a hard @ss and needed to pull in my reins and let his brother come....I said but thats the thing, I've never once said he couldn't come. I've never once told Matt that he can't invite his brother.

Jeanne & Gwen - I can't give you rep :(

Thank you all ladies for your support. Some people just baffle me and to think I was actually pretty close with her up until 2 years ago....ah oh well....nothing more I can really do except cave to the blackmail and let the brother come but FH doesn't want him there so that won't happen. They've never been close and she just needs to butt out.

Then in other news I got a weird email from my cousin in-law today that has been a bit concerned. Her husband (my cousin) is our MC and she rights me an email that says she really needs to talk to me and its not right on facebook or email and wondering if I'm going to be home tonight and thats its extrememly time sensitive....hmm I wonder what this could be?

Honestly if I could turn back time I would have jumped on FH's idea of JOP, only I'd insist we elope.

And while we don't plan on having kids - cause really now - who would want to bring an innocent life into this F***ing mess - if by chance we do, I will be telling them to elope....the headaches and migraines over this issue just aren't worth it.

FH & I were just talking for the past hour while I tucked him in since he has to work tomorrow and I don't, and I was saying that you have to give me credit - I"ve been rather calm and non chalant about the whole wedding planning and he agreed and said it surprised him because normally I stress cause I'm a perfectionist...then I said that the only stress has been his family and he agreed.

It's officially Tuesday here so 4 more days!

My parents are amazing! I couldn't have gotten this done without them. I just wanted them to be able to have a good time as well without any real duties but I guess dad will have to keep things going.

OMG I AM GOING TO LOSE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now my father just calls me and tells me he got a phone call from the makeup shop who was doing our spray tans on Thursday and makeup on Saturday and the lady from the shop that we hired won't be able to do the spray tans and possibly not the makeup.

I'm so flipping mad....they want to transfer my services to another girl there but we don't want her. She doesn't do any wheres as good a job on makeup - makes people look like a hooker, etc....plus she's rather snotty whereas the other girl was my sister's boss back in high school and we know here.

I'm beyond pissed right now. Especially since my parents have already paid in full for 2 spray tans & 4 makeups.....thats like easily $200 or more.

Everything is falling apart........why is this happening?

MrsDM

First, take a deep breath. Second, go and make yourself a stiff-a$$ drink. Seriously. I don't know why everything is falling apart, but I'm soooo sorry it is! Did they say why she couldn't?

:bbeek:

OMG. I don't even know what to say because I'm so blown back here. It's like four days before. How could she possibly think cancelling on you now, even if with a found replacement, would be the right thing to do? I can't imagine what could be her reasoning for this.

:bbeek:

I guess you're going to have to make the most of it with the other girl, or threaten and beg. At this point, I'm not sure which option is better.

:bbeek:

I know it's not helping at this point, but let's keep our eyes on the prize. Even if you end up with a messed up spray tan (ugh, ok, let's not even imagine that) or hooker makeup or Matt's mother does something even more insanely messed up over the next few days or his brother shows up and there's a grand scene of epic proportions, you're getting married. And Matt loves you and everything is going to be ok.

:soppy:

BIG HUGS!

08-11-2009, 12:54 PM
Thank you both - I can't give either of you rep :(

I just can't believe how much has gone wrong in the last couple of days....things were going so smoothly - minus the insane in-laws....just to have everything crumble on me 4 and 5 days before? It just seems so unfair.

I don't know the exact reasoning although I suspect it has something to do with the day surgery she had earlier last week but they should have called me last week not 4 days before.

Thankfully my sister is an aesthetician so she can do the makeup but I'll be **** out of luck on the tan which sucks because I am so friggin pale and when I'm tired (which I suspect I won't sleep much Friday night) I get even paler.

I just need to remind myself like Matt said last night - "You've got the dress, I've got the tux and we're good to go." Mind you he left out the rings and license but we have those too...lol

MrsDM
08-11-2009, 01:53 PM
As far as the tan goes, does anybody else in your area do it? I've tried Loreal Sublime Bronze..and it actually works really well if you are still trying to get a tan.

08-11-2009, 01:59 PM
Ok crisis adverted!!!

My sister called her old boss at home to see what was going on and that phone call my dad received was never suppose to happen!!!! She's super pissed at the girl for calling I guess and told my sister that she will be there both Thursday and Saturday and will be the only one touching my bridal party.

Then she sent me a message on facebook apologizing for the mix up.

So I'm glad that got resolved....I think the other girl was trying to drum up business for herself as I don't know too many that will book with her as most want the girl I booked with....and the girl my sister was talking to said she had just got done telling that other one that she would be in to do my bridal party since we prepaid and booked specifically with her.

Ahh some people.

I'm so sorry that everything seems to be falling apart. Is there anyone else in the tan salon that you can request or is the other girl your only option?

Just remember your FH loves you just the way you are. So even if you don't get your tan you'll still be stunning to him. :)

Seriously? What in the world was that chick thinking - that a pissed off bride (or one of her family members/bridal party) wouldn't track down someone who was thoughtless enough to cancel so close to the wedding and find out the truth?!?

The girl emailed me and called my father to apologize too. Which is nice! Phew what a relief!

My engagement ring is all cleaned and just a sparkling and it almost don't want to wear it for fear of getting dirty before saturday...lol....i'm going to be extra careful.

I've been trying to organize things as I leave tomorrow to go to my parents for the rest of the week an hour away which is where the wedding is and currently I cannot find my tiara/headpiece....lol....I don't know where it could have gone but hopefully it turns up.

Edit - I'm really needing a drink - too bad we don't keep the fridge stocked with that stuff...lol...I may have to convince FH to go somewhere for supper where I can order one.

I'm glad you'll still get your makeup and tan done. That must have been quite the relief to hear! I like what your FH said about how you have the dress and he has the tux and you're good to go... I think I was told something similar on the wedding day by a couple people and still found it hard to calm down... but in the end, getting married really is what matters.

We call our wedding day a "perfect disaster" because soooo many things went wrong. At the end of the day, I was just extremely happy (and relieved!) to be married to my best friend.

I hope that the big day goes much more smoothly than these recent weeks for you! You have done an awesome job on everything!

So now I still can't find my headpiece/tiara....thankfully it was only $9 but it still irks me. It was one of the very first things I bought and of course I got it on ebay so no time to get a new one.

I've looked everywhere....FH has looked in the same places...nothing...the only thing I can think of is that it has gotten thrown out as I kept it in the yellow bubble envelope to prevent it getting bent and since there is no weight to it really, maybe one of us picked it up and thought i t was garbage.

Sigh.............

I'm in Canada so no Davids. My city doesn't really have a wedding store so that is out too....I might see about going to Michaels tomorrow to see what they have, otherwise, I just going to have to let it go.

We didn't do hair trials so nothing was set in stone regarding my hair just I'm super glad my parents bought me a nicer veil because I hated the veil I got from ebay and wasn't going to wear it - just my headband tiara. Then the night we picked up my dress they bought me a really nice veil.

Our wedding section at the Canadian Walmart's doesn't even compare to what you guys have at your Walmart's - honestly. We have one section of an aisle and it's all Martha Stewart stuff - invites, ceiling decor, etc.....no tiaras here but thanks for the tip.

I'm going to swing by Michaels I think and if they have one great, if not, then oh well I guess.

Thank you ladies.

I am in our home town now, FH isn't which sucks but totally understandable that he doesn't want to go to his parents. Although he made the drive up here with me as we needed 2 vehicles to get everything here.

No tiara still as Michaels really didn't have anything.

Also, I had an appt at the border today for a Nexus card and they said I should receive it in 2 weeks. So I asked what were to happen if I were to get married and change my name and they said how soon are you getting married and I was like ugh Saturday...lol....so they processed my application under a hypenated last name because I had already signed the papers with my maiden name so they added my soon to be married name at the end....lol...somehow that felt wrong but they are the border people and should know.

We got a big white party tent put together this afternoon at my parents. The thing doesn't come with instructions - man was that ever fun to put together.

Mom got the programs and the pewmarkers finished tonight and my dress got to the steamers to be steamed today since the skirt is so full and being in that bag.

And I had my sister (the aesthetician) wax my legs for the first time - rather painful if I do say so myself.

I also received an email from my cousin's mother - the ex MC - and she seems beyond pissed that he did this to me and was asking me all sorts of questions. To her they have chalked it up to nerves which is not what I was told and I just told her that I haven't even talked to him but that it was his wife that called me.....I'm rather annoyed to be honest as he's had since last July to back out.

So I may not be on as much from now until Saturday but I will try to keep you all updated!

Thank you for all the well wishes and for listening to my petty grumblings re the inlaws and all the chaos this week. I truly appreciate all the support!

Tomorrows agenda includes a full body massage, writing my vows and getting my spray tan....plus a gazillion other things I'm sure...lol

Well today was a productive day.

I had my full body massage and my sister waxed my eye brows.

I got the rest of the candy for the candy bar - a store had 4 tubs of various candy for $10 so I got 16 tubs of candy. 3 each of jelly beans, cherry sours, sour keys, ju jubes & gummie bears and then a black licorice for my parents to make 16. That was only $45 after tax so I think that is pretty awesome. I'd previously boughten licorice nibs, mini packages of maynard gummies, mini chocolate bars as well as chocolate carmels and chocolate mints. So I think we should have a nice variety. Total of about $100 on candy.

I also found underwear finally for under my dress, picked my dress up from the cleaners where my parents had taken it to get steamed (side vent it was $51 just to get it steamed - I just about died when I was told the price). I had my initials embrodiered in my grampie's hanky that I got after he passed and my uncle didn't charge me for it.

My dad and FFIL both got their tuxes today - no problems. Now just need FBIL (BM) to get his tomorrow and hopefully it will fit ok.

I had my spray tan tonight, got the candy dishes washed, made the hoodies for me and the girls for Saturday, added golf charms to the guestbook & pen, got the ribbon and golf charms ready for the toasting flutes which will have to be hand washed tomorrow. I also got one of the shadow boxes done for the parents and went to do the 2nd one and realized I didn't have our invite for it so FH is bringing that up tomorrow with him.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day! Nail appt, getting the centerpieces set up, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, etc.

f77g4
08-13-2009, 11:35 PM
I also had a chance to sit down and work on my vows.

This is what I have so far - we sat a max of 5 lines each:

Matthew, you are my best friend, my supporter, my rock & my beloved. I promise to love you more each day we are together & to continue to grow with you. I will continue to support you in everything that you do & to make your dreams my dreams. I promise to always put you first, love you unconditionally, to respect your decisions & to stand beside you through the good and the bad. I promise to never go to bed angry and to always kiss you goodnight. This is my vow to you.

Honest thoughts please ladies....too cheesy at the end? Not enough?

This was way harder then I had anticipated but I want to communicate to him that he will always be number 1 to me despite how he is treated by his parents.

I was going to put down I promise to one day be done studying and to be more patient when you get mad at your video games but it just didn't seem right.

In other news, FBIL called again to apologize from his cell phone while at FMIL & FFIL's house. He apologized and then the tables turned yet again and he reinsulted everyone except for my sister.....29 years old and cannot apologize....wow!

So FH went to call his mom and tell her what time the rehearsal was and after 4 or 5 times, this girl finally answers and he's like who's this and she's like B and he's like who's B and the reply was I'm P's girlfriend. So FBIL is in our hometown with his flavor of the week girlfriend who ironically enough is answering the phone at my FIL's??? Weird. I knew he would show up here.

I was talking to FH tonight and he said that he finally got to talk to his mom and guess what? She heard the way FBIL talked to FH and she isn't impressed....finally she sees the light - at least for today....lol....she told FH that if that is how he apologized a few weeks ago on the answering machine then no wonder we didn't accept it. She was suppose to talk to him tonight.

Anyways I think the in-laws are now coming....

It might be because we have the same rules - never go to bed angry, always kiss goodnight and say "i love you" and NEVER fight in the bedroom.

I think it'd be fine to add the lines you left out - it should make him laugh, and add that truly personalized touch to the vows. :)
