Would it work? I don't see why not yano. All you need to buy is iron-on transfer paper. Upload your pic.. print.. there ya go.. Right? LOL.. What ya think? :o

Hmmmmm I have used the transfers for shirts .. I don't see why it wouldn't work for an aisle runner too. :)

My only bit of advice would be to check the transfer instructions vis a vis types of material that they recommend. It might be ink intensive but if it works, it would certainly be a LOT quicker and not as hard on the back LOL

Ghead - you be the guinea pig. Try it and let us know if it worked :)

I have been thinking about that too! I would love to see if anyone tries it. The only thing I have tried, and it works pretty well, is temporary/semi-permanent adhesive vinyl. It's not as durable as paint or iron on, but it's MUCH quicker and looks very nice. If you are only concerned about using it for the one day then this method should hold up just fine. I've made a couple banners for other brides and as far as I've heard they are happy with them. Like the iron on though, it would depend on the material of the runner or banner.

Here's an example of a banner I made with the adhesive lettering:

I have been considering getting a heat press to do the iron on so they are more durable, but that's a pretty big investment for a couple projects. :-)

I've done an aisle runner using a combo of iron on and paint, wish I had a picture but they are all of the 35 mm sort. Just be sure to do all your iron on before you paint anything. Don't know how well it would work with other materials for the runner. I've seen a pretty nice runner done using what looked to me like the stuff that is used in sewing to add stiffness. I don't know that it would work well for iron on, but maybe you could try a small trial. Some of that stuff is meant to iron on to the fabric you are using in sewing so that kind really would end up a mess if you tried I bet.

Thought I'd let you all know I will be ordering some materials to try this idea a couple ways...I'm going to try a commercial-grade heat press as well as a regular at home iron with iron-on decals. I'll report back what I find! :-)
