Well, this is my first journal entry, so I will try to give you all a little history of Cody and I. Him and I met during January of 2002. I was a junior at a different high school than him, and he was a Senior. Him and I lived about 25 miles apart. My long time best friend, Felicia, hooked the two of us up, although it took until March 29 for the two of us to start officially dating (he had just ended a really nasty relationship and wanted to take things slow). The cool thing about Cody and my relationship is that Felicia's husband has been Cody's best friend for a long time! So the four of us make quite the group when you get us together!

Cody and I dated throughout high school and community college (we both attended different comm. colleges). This August, 2005, Cody and I moved in together. We were both going to the same four-year college and neither of us wanted to live in a dorm. Cody was a senior in college and I was a junior.

That August, I was working full time for the Financial Aid Office at the college, and I came home that friday (Aug 12) to find a long stem red rose threaded through the screen door handle. When I saw it, my heart started to beat so fast! When I walked inside the house, there were more red roses on the ground of the living room, the lights were out, our song was playing, and there stood Cody next to my favorite lit candle. He looked so handsome! He did the whole bended knee proposal with a beautiful white gold diamond ring! I had no idea about any of it!!

So that about brings us to where we are today. Right now, I am doing my internship and working full time as a Graphic Designer for the college. Cody is doing his internship as well, but he is living with his parents and saving some money (we are working if different towns). He will come back to live with me this August (2006) where he will be getting his mastor's degree and I will be finishing my senior year of college.

I have been trying to do a lot of the planning now for the wedding so that I won't have to worry about it while I am in school! I have quite a bit planned already, but I will talk about that another day!! I have written enough as it is!

As of Friday, our countdown really began! We finally hit the one year mark! And speaking of Friday, it was one of the crappiest days! It was rainy and dreary, and I ended up with the flu! What a week! I just hope that this June 9, 06 wasn't any indication about how next June 9, 2007 is going to be! I just figure that I got all of the nasty things out of the way this year so that next year can be beautiful on June 9th! I can only hope anyways!

Saturday, I met with my possible photographer and viewed their portfolio. The photographer who I had first in mind was already booked so I had to do some searching around to find these guys. But I think that they are going to be perfect!! It is a husband and wife who do the pictures together. They really base everything on the bride and groom's budget and what they can afford. There is no time limit on how long they can be at the wedding and they are willing to do almost anything at no extra cost! I am so excited! They will do both the traditional poses, but they also do a sort of journalistic style which will be really nice! Here are some of the things they will do: take pictures at the rehearsal; travel to wherever us girls are getting our hair done before the wedding (which is about 25 minutes away from where the wedding is going to be); travel to two locations (one for wedding and one for reception); take whatever picture we want at the wedding (I think they take between 600-1000 pictures total); they will stop anywhere on the way to the reception to take pictures if we want; they will put together a slide show of the pictures that they JUST TOOK at the wedding, to be run at the reception (how cool is that!); and tons of other great stuff! I am so excited!

And they do something a little different than normal, because instead of the normal photo album, they put together a book which is hard covered and basically a collage of photos that will tell a story of our wedding! And since I love scrapbooking and design stuff, that will be perfect for me! One last thing...when the wedding is over, I get to keep all the proofs on CDs and they will give me a permission slip to get the pictures printed wherever I want! I am so excited! I really hope they turn out ok! I am really nervous because the wedding is going to be outdoors and I want a photographer who knows how to deal with nature's elements!

One thing done...tons more to go!

Congratulations on getting the photographer out of the way Chelsea. That is a big step. Sometimes that can be one of the more difficult. Sorry to hear about how crappy your Friday was!!!

WOW! You're photographer sounds amazing! That is so great that they have no real time constraints! Getting all the proofs on CD is awsome! We are getting the photos that way as well which is exsiting for me because i can do all the editing and such myself in photoshop.
Don't worry too much about the weather. I hoped that the my date would be good because i can remember the previous 2 years had been beatiful. Unfortunetly it poored rain all day. But, it was so great and the rain didn't even bother me in the end. It did make all the colours seem brighter and more vibrant on the trees and the flowers.
Are you planning on having your wedding outside at all?
I can't wait to hear more about your wedding! Happy Planning! :D

Ok...I need to vent a little bit here. Let me give you some background first before I start complaining: My fiance and I are haing three people stand up with us at the wedding. I am having my bother's wife and two of my good friends. Cody is having his brother and two of his good friends. Now, my brother and my fiance do not get along very well. Actually in all honesty, he really dislikes him.

Now here's my problem:
Cody and I have been engaged since August. All along, we have decided to have my brother, Corey, as one of the ushers. Earlier today, my mother called and said that Corey called her upset because he has a feeling that he is not going to be included in our wedding (we hadn't asked him to be an usher yet). I guess he feels like he should get the oppertunity to stand up with his sister at this important day in her life.

When my mom first said this to me, I was really pissed off. leave it to my mom to find some way to ruen the wedding. Now, if we have my brother stand up with us, I am going to feel like I am only doing it to save peace in the family. And if we don't have him stand up, then he is going to be upset and dissapointed. So mom and I started fighting and got off the phone.

Well, I got to thinking that if I have his wife standing up with my, then I should probably have him standing up with me as well. He is my brother after all and I would like him to be included. But when I called my fiance to see if he cared if my Brother be included, he said "yes" because the groomsmen where his choice and I shouldn't be able to tell him who stands up with him.

And I am lost. I agree with my fiance...I do think it should be his choice, but then again, it really upsets me that he won't let Corey stand up there with him just because he doesn't want him to. Shouldn't he at least consider it because I really want Corey included? I don't know whether to be mad at my mom, mad at Corey, or mad at my fiance....or at myself.

What do you think I should do? Am I wrong at being upset at my fiance? Or do you think he should be willing to be a little leniant because I want my brother included? Here I am, stressed out, with the wedding a little less than a year away, with my fiance mad at me, and with my mom mad at me...arhhhh!

Thanks for the vent.

your could have your brother stand with you on your side.. I thought about doing that with my bestfriend which is a male. However after thinking about his and what he could show up in i said no to the ideal...

I absolutely feel that the groomsmen are your FH's choice. Period. I don't think he should be made to have someone up there with him that he doesn't want. That's the whole idea of groomsmen to support the groom. That being said, your wedding is a year away and people's feelings change. There may be a chance (however remote) that your FH will want to include him down the road, who knows. But for right now, I would respect your FH's wishes and let your family know that he has already picked his groomsmen. Sorry that you have to go through this, Chelsea.

I agree with Karen! The GM are your FH's choice!! I was in a similar position as I wanted to include my brother in the wedding party as well. (His wife was my MOH!) Well my DH said no, it's his choice and he's choosing the people he choose! I had to respect that, him and my brother aren't the best of friends but I gather they tolerate each other. Can you have your brother do something else important? Like laying a remembrance rose at the altar for people who won't be able to attend because they have passed or what not. OR can your brother do a reading? We solved my problem by asking my brother to be the MC for the reception and my DH was ok with that. There are ways to include your brother some how, you just have to figure out what it's going to be!! Good luck....and remember you still have time to find a common ground for everyone involved!! :)

When Joel and I first got engaged we discussed this exact issue. Joel has many close friends and a brother and fraternity brothers who he is very close to. I have two brothers, who he really isn't very close to. In my family when one of us gets married they siblings ave always been included (after much drama I dropped out of my brothers wedding, but we'll save that story for another day), and I made it clear to Joel that since we were marrying each other and were unitig our families, that my brothers are now his brother's and vice versa, and that I believed that they should be groomsmen. Although he would have preferred to ask some of his other friends, he accepted this and I really believe he understands. He has three others standing up with him and those are entirely his choice, I love his sister to deatha nd we are very close and she is one of my BM, but even if we weren't close and I couldn't stand her, she would still be one of my BM. I am sorry, but I feel that if you are joining families then the wedding party should consist of the members of those families. I agree that if you want your brother standing up with you, that your FH should accept that. It is not like you are asking him to give one of his other GM the boot...and it would mean a great deal to you!!!

I have sort of this same issue. Justin and my brother aren't the best of friends. Until recently Justin could not stand him. In the last year my brother has done a lot of maturing and they actually talk to each other now. Travis actually even comes to our house and has dinner at times. However, I told Justin from the beginning that I understand he would not want my brother as a groomesman, but I would like him to be an usher. Who better to escort my mother down the aisle than her own son? Perhaps you can solve this by asking your fh to have him as an usher instead of a groomesman? I hope whatever you decide works out well for you. Good luck! I know this is a tough situation for you.

Thanks everyone for being supportive (or for disagreeing with me). I was just so stressed out earlier. I have just decided to let it ride for a little while. My fiance now knows how I feel about it so I will leave the ball in his court now. It just makes me mad that (according to my mom) my brother basically was going to be really dissapointed if he couldn't stand up there with us at the wedding (and I don't really blame him). It made it seem to me like him being an usher wasn't good enough for him. That really bothered me! I love my brother, but can't he just be happy being an usher!?

In the long run, the decision is totally up to my fiance as to who he stands up with him at the alter. I know that it is not my decision and it shouldn't in any way be...it just bothered me that my fiance wouldn't even consider the possibility of my brother standing up there. My brother is going to be part of the family...whether my fiance likes it or not.

I don't know...I guess time will just have to tell! This is sad...I am already getting stressed about the wedding and it is more than eleven months away! I am going to be a wreck when the time gets closer (Especially with school stress and having to find a job and new house!)!! I'll keep you posted and I am sure that I will be venting here often! Thanks again!

I asked my brother to be the Toastmaster. Would you be able to do something like that? My brother also acted as an 'usher' (personally I don't like calling them that so I'll go with 'Meeter and Greater'). I also asked DHs sister to be a M&G which worked out well as there was someone from both sides to greet people.

To us, they are like the Master of Ceremonies, but I don't know how Hayley would describe them. They might be different in New Zealand.

Yes Karen you are correct. My brother also spoke on behalf of my parents. My Dad isn't too good at that stuff (he just gets choked up). Mum would've done it but Nana (thats dad's mum) thought it might overpower dad or something like that, so both my parents sat down with my brother and worked out a speech for him.

Last Saturday, my mom and one of my bridesmaids went dress shopping with me to this place about 50 minutes away from where we live. I tried on a lot of dresses, but nothing that felt like "the one." Everyone keeps telling me that when they found their dresses, they instantly knew that it was the dress they were going to be married in. I did find this very pretty Maggie Sottero dress that I loved, but it is about three times more $$ than I am wanting to spend! If you know anything about Maggie's dresses, the name of the dress is "Lillian." I just love the back of it (it's a really low back).

This Saturday, my brides maids, future mother-in-law and my mother are coming with me to try on dresses at Davids Bridal. I cannot wait! I have the basic idea of what type of dress I am want, I just hope that I can find one in my price range as well.

I am getting really excited also because my little flower girl is just starting to walk! She will only be one year and ten months old at the wedding and the ring bearer will be only two years old. I am not expecting much from them, but I am sure that they are goind to be adorable none-the-less!!!

Well, I had no luck at david's Bridal. It just seemed like all of the dresses were kind of blah. I guess I just wasn't too happy with the whole atmosphere there. I think I am prefering the smaller bridal shops. At least with those, I may end up with a more unique dress. It seems like everyone I talk to got their dress at david's bridal.

I am really liking the maggie sottero brand or dresses. My two favorite dresses so far have been her brand. Thursday, my mother and I are going to a local town to look at two bridal shops that carry the maggie sottero line of dresses. I am going this time just with my mom. It seemed weired trying on dresses in front of two of my bridesmaids and my future mother-in-law. It was almost like I was under a lot more pressure. I think that from now on, I am going to go dress shopping just with my mom. She and I both get along so well and she has pretty much the same style as me so we should have fun together!

I am kind of getting depressed about not finding the right dress. Everyone I talk to says that you "just know" when you find the right dress. So far, I have yet to have that feeling. I am really worried that I am being too picky. can you be too picky when you are picking the dress of your dreams out? I know pretty much what I, it is just finding that type of dress in my right price range. I really want to have a dress with a low back, but all of those type of dresses are the "beach" style, and I want a more poofy dress (like an "A-line" dress). I just love the look of the open back dresses. Hopefully I will have better luck Thursday.

In decoration news, my supervisor at work showed me her pictures, and she had some really awesome decorations at her reception. Behind her cake, she had latice (sp??) in a "V" shape around the cake. She weaved tons of white christmas lights throughout the latice to make a sort or star light feel. Over the lights, she draped sheer white fabric. It was so pretty! If I can ever figure out how to attach pictures on here, I will show you just what I mean (it is hard to explain). It sounds like a really pretty (and fairly cheap) way of decorating the cake!

In non-wedding news, tomorrow is my birthday! I am turning 21 finally! I am not planning on doing much. I have to work all day and then I am driving home for a nice four-day-weekend! One of my co-workers said that she is going to bake me a cake shaped in a beer can or a martini glass! How fun! When I get home, my finace is going to take me out to Applebees tomorrow for my b-day. hmm...what type of drink should I buy??

Happy B-day tomorrow! I'm glad you are getting a long weekend. I am sure it is much deserved.

I only took my mom dress shopping with me too. I think going with only one person is the way to go for sure! Maggie Sottero dresses are really nice. I like them a lot! Good luck on Thursday! Don't worry, you'll find a dress. I just knew mine was the one when I tried it on and you will to. It might take you awhile, but you'll find it.

I think I may have gotten the picture thing figured out!! I only have dial-up internet so loading a picture to photobucket takes forever!

Anyways, here is where the ceremony is going to be held! This is my parent's back yard. It used to be a hog lot where we raised sows (pigs for you non-hicks out there). It is about 1/6 of an acre and we seeded it down with grass. The lot is surrounded on the West side by tall pine trees (they are our wind breaker for our house). The cement block is the start of a small grain bin. My fiance and I are going to stand on the cement block. Of course, the old bailer will be moved off of the platform come wedding time! I think I am going to cover the block with white cloth and sprinkle red rose petals all over the platform.

I Finally found my dress! Just my mom and I went looking in two smaller bridal shops for the designer of dresses that I like. We went to a larger town nearby and the first place was called "Country Bride, Inc." which is perfect because we are getting married in the country! Anyways, this was the first dress I tried on and I absolutely fell in love with the back part of the dress! I especially love how the beadwork seems to be "raining" down the front and back of the dress! There is a lot of dress here, but I think I can manage it for one day! I tried on about 6 other dresses and then went back to this dress. None of the other dresses even compaired to this one. I was a little worried though because I didn't get that instant "this is the one" feeling that so many people talk about, but there was nothing that was even coming close to this dress. Mom and I ended up going to the second place and I triend on about four dresses there, but I just kept thinking about that first dress I tried on. So we went back to the Country Bride, Inc. and I tried on the dress for the third time! I was scared about making the final decision, but I finally decided that this was the dress I wanted to be married in. The whole decision scared me because this is such an important decision and once I said "yes" then I wouldn't be able to return it (kind of like my fiance...Just kidding!). But anyways, here is my dress! It will take about four months to come in because it is all of the way from Australia! I can't wait to try on "MY" actual dress in my size!!!!! The dress is called "Porsha Lynette" and it will be all white.

Thank you all so much!! It is so nice being able to share this with people who are going through the same stages together! One of my bridesmaids is in somewhat of a different stage in her life than I am, so it is hard to talk to her about anything wedding related. She just doesn't get as excited about things as I do. Another one of my bridesmaids is my brother's wife, who I don't get along with the best. And my Matron of Honor lives two states away so she really can't experience any of the wedding stuff with me. Therefore I am driving my fiance insane talking about the wedding all of the time! It helps getting to be able to come on here and talk (or should I say type) away!

mlm063007...So far I have gotten some of the major tasks taken care of. We have decided on where the ceremony is going to be held and we have also booked the reception site. Both my fiance and I are from really small towns (mine is actually called a Village) so places around here for weddings get booked up fast!

I have my photographer already booked as well. My first choice photographer was already booked, and I called her more than a year in advanced! But I was actually able to find a better and nicer photographer who is going to work out really good.

For music, I have booked a friend of my dad's (he is my dad's farm machinery seller...what a combo huh...farm machinery and a DJ). He is just going to DJ at the reception. For the actual ceremony, I am going to have one of my dad's students play a solo violin. She has played the violin for several other weddings and I think she will be perfect for an outdoor ceremony.

As for decorations, we haven't bought much yet. We have decided on the colors red and silver. I am going to buy some red and white lights around Christmas time. Last year I saw some red icicle lights, but there was only one box of them left, so I am going to make sure to snatch up some this Christmas.

As for invitations, I am a graphic designer and love that type of stuff, so I am going to create our own. I am not totally sure what I want to do yet, but for the invites I think I want to incorporate a picture of my fiance and I. For the programs, I am thinking about making them into fans to help keep the guests a little cooler.

We have not gotten a cake figured out yet, but I am pretty sure who I am going to have make it. She is just a local woman who made my Graduation cake in high school. She is really cheap and she makes a great cake! For food, we are going to have the grocery store where my fiance used to work cater it. We are just going to do ham/turkey sandwiches and salad stuff. Nothing fancy.

There are going to be a lot of "personal touches" made into our wedding. This is my favorite: My fiance's grandparents got married with gold rings, but they were cheaper and they ended up breaking. At the time, his Grandpa had little money, so he ended up making a wedding band from a half dollar. He actually pounded the coin into a smooth band. What is really neat about the band is that in the inside of his Grandma's ring, it says clear as day "In God We Trust" and inside of his Grandpa's ring, it says "Half Dollar." Well, the band no longer fits his Grandpa, so he gave it to my fiance and that is the ring my fiance and I will be married with.

What about you? I will tell you all more when I figure more out! The best of wishes to all!

Yeah, it is kind of nice knowing that we get to use his rings. It is something really personal that means a lot to my fiance and I.

I wouldn't worry about it. Cody and I have been engaged since August 12 of last year, so I have had a lot of time to think about things. Plus I am working all summer for my college and living alone, so when I get bored (which is often) I look through bridal magazines or surf the net for wedding ideas. It is amazing how much stuff there is to think about and consider about the wedding! It is so sad to think that when the day actually does arrive, it goes by so fast. I hope I can hold onto every moment and make the memories last for a long time! Hopefully that is what my photographer will help me with also!

How many people are in your "village" mlm063007?

You have me beat then! We have about 900 in our town. My graduating class only had 20 people in it! Every single one of us either came to my school when they were in Kindergarten or First Grade. Trust me, by the time I was a Senior, I was so ready to get out of there!

I haven't gotten much else done with the wedding for a while. I am waiting on my fiance to call our officiant (hopefully our officiant) to see if he will marry us. He was the same priest that married Cody's parents! He is now retired but he will do some weddings as special gifts. He is pretty close to Cody's dad so hopefully he will be able to marry us. Another good thing about it is that he can't marry in a church, which works out perfect for us!

I got a couple of samples of invites in the mail from Rexcraft that I had requested. I wasn't quite as happy as them when I saw them in person as I was when I saw them in the magazine. I need to start playing around with different ideas so I can start on making them. I think I might make a "fan" program for the wedding ceremony. I am not as fond of them as I am others, but since the wedding is outside, I figured it might be nice for the guests. Either that, or it will be a distraction.

My dad has started working on the deck for behind our house. I am going to help him some with it this weekend when I go home. I am really excited to see it completed.

In depressing news...classes begin on the 21st of this month. I am going to be starting my Senior year of college and I am not really looking forward to it. I am just ready to find a job and a home and start a family with my fiance. I am getting really worried about finding a home and a job. I know that I will be able to work where I do now, but only as a temp for a while. I really want to find a job somewhere around where my fiance is looking, but I am not sure if I will find one. And then I am worried about finding a home. That ****** thing about that is that Cody and I have to figure out where we are working before we can buy a home. Our lease for the place I am living in now is up at the end of May...so I am getting nervous...Oh well...everyone keeps telling me that it will all work out in the long run...I sure hope so!

I start classes on the 24th...I know how you feel.

I also know how you feel about just wanting to get it over with and start a family w/ Clayton. I am getting ready to start my junior year, so I still have a while to go:(

I hope everything turns out ok w/ your house situation, I understand how stressful that must be.

Ok...back to the issue with my brother and not wanting to be included in the wedding if he wasn't going to be a groomsman.

I have been doing a lot of thinking and one of the things I am really worried about is my Grandmas. Both of my Grandpas have passed away and so my Grandmas will have to walk down the aisle alone and sit alone. So I have decided to make my brother in charge of them and to walk them down the aisle. I also want him to light the candle for my Grandpas. I am going to title this job as the "honorary escort" and i am going to include him in the pictures and have him sit at the head table at the reception. I have not told him this plan yet because I haven't gotten the chance to talk to him face-to-face. Anyways, my dad and him were talking the other day and the topic of the wedding came up. Corey (my brother) asked my dad if he had heard anything about what I was going to have Corey do in the wedding. Dad decided to mention something to him about it because dad knew how worried I was about my brother not wanting to be a part of the wedding. My dad said that he overheard me and my mom talking about how worried I was about the Grandmas and that I really want Corey to be in charge of them and to light the candle for my Grandpas. Dad said that I really didn't just want Corey to be an usher and he wasn't that close to my fiance to be a groomsman. And my brother seemed ok with the idea. I think that since it is really special to me and it is more personal than just being an usher, that it made him feel more special. I am really glad that my dad talked to him about it because now I don't have to worry about him being an a$$ about not being a groomsman. I am going to still talk to him as soon as I can.

Also, my fiance called the officiant and he said that he will be able to do our wedding. We will just have to contact him around the end of April because he will be out of state for the winter. So that is another thing checked off of my list!

I finally talked with my brother about being the honorary escort and he was really cool with it. I am really glad that the whole situation went over smoothly.

This Saturday, Cody and I have a meeting with the lady who might make our cake. I really have no idea what so ever about what I want. I am just hoping to find some good ideas looking at her pictures of cakes she has done before.

Well, I decided to go ahead and post pictures of me in the dress I tried on at the bridal shop. It is two sizes too big so it doesn't look as good on me here as it does on the model, but hopefully the dress I ordered will look better on me. The only differences is that my dress will be white and not as wrinkled. Also, the thread down the back will be spaced a lot further apart. I am thinking about taking the backing behind the lace out as well (behind the threads).

We basically went into the meeting with no idea at all and came out with hopefully the perfect cake! We cut and pasted ideas from different pictures that Karen had, so I will post those pictures later this week if I can.

School starts Monday and I am really not looking forward to that. It's not like I am not a good student or anything, I am just ready to be out there in the "real world" actually getting on with my life. I jsut hope I can be on OneWed as much as I am now (which isn't as much as I would like).

Well, another week is down the drain and I haven't been able to spend more than ten minutes on this website, let alone do any wedding planning. I am so glad to have most of my stuff done with! I have been trying to think of what type of flowers I want for the wedding, and I really have no idea what so ever. I am no expert in flowers and I am really lost. It seems like there are so many different varities and colors! I think what is going to be my main choice-maker is the cost and the color. I saw in some wedding photos that a bride had the main colors red, but then added in colors of purple and blue into just the bridemaids and bridal boquets. I really like that idea. That way, the flowers will really pop out from the girls' dresses.

My Aunt also suggested something that she had seen on TV. She was watching a show where the bridemaids all had the same color of flowers, but they all had a different type of flower. That is a unique idea too.

I think I am just going to have to look in more magazines and see a style and type of flower that I like. :bbfrown:

Well, this really has nothing what so ever to do with my wedding, but I wanted to post the pictures anyways. These are a few of the drawings I have done. I really wish that I could have time to do more, but it seems like I just can't get myself to start a drawing. I love doing them (especially if they turn out semi-decent), but I can't get motivated lately. I am suppose to do one for my supervisor (one of her little girl) and I need to get on that. THIS WAS A THREAD THAT I POSTED...BUT I WANTED TO ADD IT INTO MY JOURNAL TOO.

Ok, this really made my week! Wednesday, I was turning left into a parking lot at my college when I got hit by another car (Not My Fault!!). This girl was in a Ford Explorer and was waiting to exit the same parking lot (she was at the stop sign and has to wait until all directions are clear before she is legal to go). I was in the middle of my turn and her front driver-side of the car hit me right smack in the drivers door, sending glass from the window all over me. Here is my car:

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/carcrashweb-1.jpg

This is the last thing I needed! She was ticketed because she was in fault, so her insurance should pay for my damage. The crappy part is that my car is old (a 1991) and it has about 163,000 miles on it, so it is not worth very much. Cody and I looked it up on Kelly Blue Book and it is only worth $1,500. I am really worried that estimater will have to total my car. Then what do I do? Cody and I are both going to college only working about 20 hours a week. I am on financial aid and have student loans. I have to have a car in order to get to classes and home. I really don't know what to do!! If they total it, I am going to need to get a new car.

The thing I am trying to deal with is: do I get a crappy car just for a year and then trade it off for a nicer car and end up losing money in the deal; or do I try to get a nicer car that Cody and I can use for a while (a family car). I am really worried!! My mom is going to take the car in for me tomorrow to get it estimated. I guess I just have to wait until then to decide what to do...This Sucks! I really didn't need thing right now...

Ok, enough about my drawings and my car wreck: Now onto actual Wedding stuff! About time huh!

I have been trying to look for a good hairstyle for the wedding. It is going to be outdoors, so I want to have an up-do. My hair has never been long before, so I am not sure what to do. (My hair used to be an inch long...I'd wear it combed down in the front and spike it in the back!) I have always had short hair, and now my hair is down past my chest, so I am open for suggestions. Here are some of my ideas that I like so far:

Thank you so much! I have it finished (well, enough for this class anyways.) When I am able to load the pic into photobucket, I will post it (I have a dial-up connection on the computer I use at home, so I will have to do it at school). I did just add my Portfolio website to my Signature so you could check that out if you wanted. We had to make the website for a class, and boy was that interesting to say the least!!! This assignment is not yet in the website though because the teacher is in process of grading the websites and I cannot mess with them until he is done.

I actually wear my hair up at my neck a lot or twisted in a big claw. It is too heavy to wear as a ponytail and gives me headaches if I do. It just takes so long to style! With having classes early in the morning, I don't really care what I look like, so I just throw it up and go. Plus I am somewhat lazy and would rather sleep than look perfect! And yes, the top if my favorite too!

What parking lot was it? My car is a '95 and has 151,000 miles and is worth less than $1000 on the Kelley Blue Book. Interesting. That's something that would happen to me because I have plenty of things to save up for right now, Chris said we might get me a new car next year. But a part of me doesn't want to, I like my car. :( But need a new one.

Alright, Time for me to explain my cake! haha! It is going to take some explaining. It is going to be three tiered(sp?) with all of the layers being circles.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/DSC01741.jpg
Ok, here is the basic style of the cake. We want it to be fairly simple, with not a lot of fofo and frill...The style is basically the same, except the "ribbon" around the center of the layers will go horizontally, not caddy-corner like that.

We are going to have a red fountain on top of the first (and largest) layer. The foundtain will be surrounded by clear pillars like those in the picture. The top layer will also be on smaller clear pillars. In the dark, the light from the fountain just danced off of the clear pillars. It looks really pretty.

And we might add some paste flowers (some type of sugar). They are only $1.00 per flower so we can do a lot with not much money. I was thinking of having the paste flowers around the fountain. I just need to figure out what type of flowers I am using first!

That is the basic jiff of the cake. We will also be having sheet cakes to feed the rest of the hungry people at the reception. Here is what I am thinking of doing behind the cake. It is basically latace(sp?) with white lights strung through the holes, and then white tulle draped down over all of it. A friend of mine did this at her wedding and this is one of the pictures. I think it will look really pretty in the dark!

I think that this is absolutely beautiful for a "aisle runner." I have several little cousins (about four I guess) and I was thinking that after all of the guests were seated and before the wedding party walks down the aisle, I would have the girls distribute the petals onto the ground. I don't want anyone but the wedding party walking on them. For some reason that really bothers me. I also thought about putting little containers on the end seat of the aisle, and then having my aunt or someone announce to everone if they would scatter the petals on the ground. I think the little girls idea would be cute, but I am not sure if they'd do it or not. (sorry that the picture is so small)

It was the Senior/Graduate Lot (across from the library). I was on Riverview Drive going south and turned left into the side entrance.

Yeah, This was NOT something I wanted to have to deal with at this point in my life. We want to get a new car, but not until we both had jobs and a place to live, not in the middle of college. I really don't know what we are going to do...

Well if it makes you feel better, last week my back lights stopped working along with the dash lights. So I can't drive it at night and have my mom's car right now. Its not the fuses, its some internal part in the steering wheel thing. Its like a $90 part!...plus just the cost to see it that's even what it is!

Well, this has been a ****** weekend! Starting on Tuesday of last week, I started to have a soar throat but just thought that I was getting a cold. Wednesday came around and I felt horrible!! I tried going to one class but ended up leaving it early. Then I went home and slept. I tried going to work, but only made it an hour before I went home. When I got home, I took my temperature, and it was 102.2!

So Thursday and Friday I miss classes and work because I still have a fever. Well, this weekend, Cody was in a wedding as an usher and I was all excited to go. So as Friday progresses along, I start getting worse quickly. Finally I decided to not go to the wedding and went to the doctor instead. All along I was thinking that I had strep throat (sp) but it turns out that I have an ear infection in my right ear and bronchitis. Fun huh?! I was so bummed that I missed the wedding, but at least I have antibiotics that will help me feel better. I just hope I get over this fast!

Well, I am feeling a little better. My throat isn't as bad as it was earlier and my cough has let up a little bit. People in my classes keep asking me if I am ok when I have one of my coughing fits...lol! I want to get back into the wedding planning but I am not sure what I am going to tackle next. I think I need to get on designing my invites. I am not really sure what to do with them, but I think I want to incoorporate my dress design into them somehow. On the front and back of my dress, there are beads that look like they are "raining down" in a sort of long diamond pattern, so I though about coping that design and using it somehow. I really want them to be unique and different, but I am kind of stuck right now. I am afraid that I will get them designed and then think of something that I would like even better. I guess that is just a chance that I will have to take sooner or later.

Cody and I are planning on regestering around Christmas break. That may be a headache! Him and I don't always have the same taste when it comes to certain items (such as kitchen stuff). I am not sure what all to register for though. We already live together and have some decent stuff, but it would be nice to get all new and nicer stuff. I am just not sure what I would do with like our pots and pans. They aren't in really bad shape, but it would be nice to get a newer and nicer set. But what do I do with the old ones?? I don't want to be a pack rat and keep them! Yard sale maybe??

I am getting really excited to get my dress. The sales lady said that it would take up to four months for it to come in, and I bought it on July 27th. November 27th will be the four month marker. I hope it comes in soon! I need to get bridesmaid dresses ordered, but I would like to wait until my dress comes in. That way, they can try on dresses while I get mine fitted.

In other news, I still do not have my car back. Her insurance guy went on vacation the week after the accident and has been gone for two weeks. So now it is three weeks later and I have no car and nothing has been finalized yet. Supposidly (sp) her insurance doesn't have my statement yet, but I gave that to him the friday following the accident. I guess the man just went on vacation and didn't enter it into the computer. I will be pissed if I have to give another statement. I WANT MY CAR!!!

I have some bad/scary news. My dad had to have an EKG last night because his heart isn't beating correctly. That is really scary, because heart attachs and strokes runs heavily on my dad's side. He is way too young for this... We should find out the results by Friday. I hope!!

Well, that is all for now. I think I have typed enough! I have to go to my next class.

Dad said that basically, with worse case senerio, he will have to be on some medication and he might have to have his heart shocked to get it beating back to normal. I am just glad that it is not worse than I thought it would be! Thank you all for your thoughts! It means a lot to me!

Someone else posted this in her journal and i just wanted to add it here because I think it is so pretty. I really would like to wear my hair down for the wedding, but I know that I will be sweaty and hot with it being outside. But this gal's hair is absolutely beautiful!

My wedding planning has kind of flat lined. I am not sure where to go next... there is so much left to do!! I really need to start looking at flowers and decide what I am going to do in that area

Trin
11-16-2006, 01:54 AM
Hello! I am kinda at the same place as you with flat lining on wedding planning, Its funny everyone always asks.. Oh how are the wedding plans going and Im like.. Their not! lol!

I Love that hairstyle, I hope you dont mind if I borrow it?

Twigler
11-19-2006, 08:53 PM
Not at all Trin!! You can use anything you want! Yeah, I hate how things have flat-lined, but I am sure that they will pick up soon for the both of us! I have a feeling that this last semester of school is going to fly!

In good news, I have a job lined up for after I graduate! It is actually at the same place I am working with now as a Graphic Designer (student worker) at Document and Publication Services (DPS), but the boss there likes me so much (for some odd reason!) that she wants to keep me there! The cool thing is that they are willing to work with me. What I mean by that is that my fiance wants to work in a town that would be about 1 1/2 hours away from DPS (there are more job oppertunities there). We don't want to live in that town, but somewhere outside of it in the country. Well, that would be an hour and half drive both ways every day.

Well, I have talked with my boss and she said that if I wanted to, I could work from home four days of the week and then just drive in on the day that they are having their staff meetings. I am so excited! It is cool because I just bought a new iMac computer, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do this! It makes me feel really good that my boss trusts me enough to allow me to work from home! She said that she wouldn't even allow some of the graphic designers that work there now to work from home, yet she trusts me! Sweet!

The only ****** part is that I have to be a temp for a while. DPS is with the state since it is at a University, and so in order to get a new position in a company, my boss has to get the position certified and then go through the whole interview process and do all of the hoop-jumping in order to make my job full time. My boss is 99.9% sure that it will turn full time, but it might take a year to accomplish. So for this year, I will have to work 6 months and then take a month off. However, my boss said that she would work around my schedule so that I don't have to take one full month off. So for example, if I want two weeks off for my wedding, I can still get paid for those weeks, and then just make them up during the month that I won't be getting paid.

The other bad part about being a temp is that I won't have insurance. Hopefully though, Cody should get really good insurance wherever he works, so I can just go on his plan for a while.

Phew! That was mouthful! Anyways, I am just really happy because now Cody doesn't have to worry about me finding a new job in that one town. Also, I love the people I work with, as well as my boss! Actually, my supervisor's little girl is my flowergirl for my wedding, so that says something right there!

Ok, my fingers are going to fall off so I am going to stop typing!!

MayBride: Actually, I guess now the other girl's insurance guy is waiting for the Police Report to come in. Which I don't understand why it is not in yet, beings it has been almost five weeks. So no, I still have no car...I have a feeling that it is going to be after Christmas now before I can get it fixed.

Wow! This has been two crazy weeks! I haven't written here since before Thanksgiving! It is crazy how busy I am getting with finals approaching in just one week! I have one final on Monday and three on Tuesday. Then I will work the rest of the week and then be off for THREE WEEKS!! Woo hoo!

Starting Thurday, we got one hell of a snow storm! It started about seven Thurday with Freezing Rain. That lasted about three or four hours. There was about 3/4 of an inch on the ground that was just freezing rain.

Then it started snowing. And it snowed and snowed and snowed! We ended up with over 14 inches of snow! I wasn't able to get my car out on Friday, so I had to miss work. They actually ended up closing my college, and they NEVER do that! I know that in at least the last five years that this was the first time they closed the college. It took Cody and I over an hour just to dig my car out of the parking lot!

And tonight, when we were coming home on the interstate, we were about three miles from getting into town when the vehicle in front of us looks like it is about to take a right turn (where there is no road) and he slams into the ditch. His head lights are now facing towards us in the ditch! We pull off to see if he is ok, and we see that his vehicle is lying on it's top so I call 911. When Cody was helping him out of the vehicle, he smelled alcohol on his body. Turns out that the man was physically ok, which was good. After the cops took our statement, the cop tells us he found an open bottle of alcohol in the man's vehicle. I find it very hard to feel sorry for someone who has been drinking and driving, let alone with an open bottle! Thank God that no one else was involved or hurt!

Was it a red truck or something like that? Because when we were almost to Macomb, there was a cop car and I think a tow truck on the right side of the road and some vehicle in the ditch.

Twigler
12-07-2006, 09:24 PM
um...actually, I don't remember actually. All we basically saw was the belly of the vehicle. It was a truck though and I think it might have had a topper on it. We could hardly tell what it was at first! This happened at about 8:00 Sunday night, so maybe!

Well, I am still having problems with the other girl's insurance company. They are trying to say that I am 20% liable. WHICH IS BULL!!! They are saying that I "cut the corner and ended up hitting her IN the parking lot IN HER LANE." I have gone around and gotten two written statements from people saying that when they drove by, there was glass all over the road but none in the parking lot. Hmm, how bizzare when I supposdly(sp) hit her in the parking lot. I just don't get how She was the one that got the ticket for failer to yield (she had a stop sign and I had none), and I had the right away, yet I am still at fault somehow.

Ok, I feel better. I needed to vent there.

I forgot to mention that my dress came in! However, when the shop was pressing it, they noticed a flaw, so they sent it back. Now I am waiting on another one to come in, and it should be here around Jan 15-26 (they are sending it rush from Australia). I am really anxious to try it on! I am just glad that my dress shop was nice enough to send it back when they saw a flaw.

In other wedding stuff, I am just trying to get though finals week. I have no money, no car, and I am stressed out like crazy! It seems like the last thing I am able to think about is the wedding (which totally sucks!). Well, enough for now. Wish me good luck with finals! I could really use this right now: :drunk:

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I cannot believe how long it has been since I have written here or been on here! The holidays are crazy! I have been trying to get some wedding stuff figured out but it is becoming so hard! I am stressing out because I am not sure what I want. It seems like I have something that I find and really want, and then I find something I want more. I guess I am just having some problems making a final decision.

Sometime between January 1-7, Cody and I are going to register for the wedding! I am really looking forward to it! We went to the local town's Target and Bergners and looked around and we have the same tastes for the most part. I think that it will all be ok when we go! We are both getting really bummed because we are worried about buying a house. Oh well. We will figure it out just like everyone keeps telling us.

January 20 we are going bridesmaid dress shopping! My matron of honor is coming back from Ohio so she will be able to come with! I know that my mom, Felicia (my MOH), and Tosha (a BM) are coming. I let my other BM know about it, but she hasn't gotten back to me yet about anything.

My dad and I are also doing a lot of yard work around the farm this Christmas break since the weather has been so nice. It seems like there is so much to do and no time to do it!

Well, I have actually gotten a lot accomplished lately! Friday the 29th, Cody and I went to look at the local florest to get an idea about flowers and my bouquet. We decided to do the girls and my flowers real and everything else fake. Here is kind of what I want the bouquet to look like:

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/Wedding%20Flowers/DSC02337.jpg

The only real difference is I want more red and less orange, and I want to add in more purples. I also want less greens in there. The overall bouquet will be smaller as well. I LOVE the snapdragons because they remind my of my grandpa on my mom's side.

I thought this would be neat to give to the mothers and Grandmothers. Maybe with a few more flowers:

Today, my mom and I went to David's Bridal to get shoes and a guest book that I had found online and really liked. Even though I didn't get my dress there, I knew that they would have a ton of shoes. Here are the shoes I ended up getting, only mine are white:

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/MyShoes.jpg

I wanted shoes that had a thicker heal (since the wedding is outside and on grass). I also wanted shoes that will be comfortable, and all of the taller shoes were really uncomfortable...not shoes I could wear all day. These just fit me like a sandal and I really like that! Plus, they are shoes that I can wear again with a short dress or even jeans. A def plus!! I just wish they were a little taller...but then they probably wouldn't be as comfortable.

Here is my guest book and pen:

BriansBride07. I am sure the shoes you picked are great! I just wanted to be comfortable mostly in mine. I am really a wimp when it comes to my feet. I hate getting new shoes because they always make my feet hurt! Bad shoes can ruin a day really easily!

Cody and I registered for gifts yesterday! We were basically there from 1:00 until 10:00, and we didn't even finish! We registered at Target, Wal-Mart, and JCPenney. At Target, we basically got our pots and pans, kitchen utencils, glasses, and some other odds and ends. Here are our glasses:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/Glasses.jpg

At JCPenneys, we are getting our bed and bath stuff, flatware, and we also got our nice dishes. Here are our dishes:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/NiceDishes.jpg

At Wal-Mart, we got our every-day dishes, kitched appliances, CO detector, Smoke Detector, broom, shop-vac, and other stuff like that. Here are our everyday dishes:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/Everydaydishes.jpg

Tonight, Cody is going to come over and we are going to add/subtract some of the stuff on our lists. We still have a lot to do with it, but I am excited and glad to have this part of the wedding planning almost completed!

Thank you Kacie_bride and hummingbird521!

Since I am a designer, one of the important aspects of our wedding will be all of the printed materials. I am wanting to design and print the invitations myself (with the help of where I work!). This is what I am thinking for my invites, only with silver and red:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/4x5navy.jpg

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/4x5pock-black.jpg

I like how the invites are in a folder and how i can put all of the other material there in the folder on the right-hand side. I am going to make the material stacked (Like the photo below). That material might include the RSVP card, directions, and the reception information. I am planning on making the RSVP card as a postcard where the guests can just mail the card without having to have an envelope. Plus, the postage for a postcard is cheaper than the postage for an envelope.

Thank you Goin2thechapel and ladymelissa! I hope I can pull them off!

I am not sure if you have read it or not in the post i made, but I am having problems getting ahold of one of my bridesmaids. I tried calling and texting her: her phone has been disconnected. I have tried e-mailing her: her e-mail messages just get sent back to me with a message that they weren't delivered. I have called her dad (whom she doesn't live with...I am not ever sure where she lives now! long story!): his phone is no longer in service as well. I have called her twice now at where she works. The last time I called was today and I left a message with someone to have her call me.

I am really wanting to go bridesmaid dress shopping, and she is not going to be able to go if I can't even tell her about it! My matron-of-honor is from out of state and she is going to be back here on the weekend of the 20th, so that is when we have planned on going: January 20th at 10:30. If I can't get ahold of my one bridesmaid, I guess we are just going to have to go without her. I had even seen her over Christmas and told her that before classes started that I wanted to get their dresses. Well, classes start Tuesday and I can't find her.

I don't want to just ditch her; she has been a long time school friend of mine that I have been friends with since grade school. I just hope she is ok...but I am kind of pissed at her for not letting me know how to get ahold of her. Hopefully she will get her message at work and call me.

Ok, sorry about the rant.

Thanks 70707Bride. I did finally get ahold of her. She called me about three days after I had left the message saying that she had thought about calling me sooner, but never got around to it. Oh well. Luckily, she was able to go tomorrow (to get bridesmaid dresses). We'll see how that goes! All of my maids are able to go!

This is a picture of Cody and I when we registered for gifts. I always try to make every memory a photo opp! Sorry about the large size. I tried resizing it in photobucket but it didn't seem to make and difference when I added it here.

Here are some pics. Sorry about the quality. We couldn't use flash in the story, so I had to hold realy still to get the pics to turn out, and as you can tell, I didn't hold that still!

And here is the dress on the model. The only difference is that the color will be clariet, not black. The designer is Bill levkoff. They weren't the style I was thinking of getting, but when all of the girls tried it on, it looked great on all of them! They are all three a variety of shapes, and some of the dresses just did not flatter them!

Thanks a ton everyone! The dresses are suppose to take 8-ten weeks to come in, so I am glad that we didn't wait any longer to get them!

Right now it is snowing outside and I have to drive back down to school (I always come home to my parents house for the weekends. I am not a drinker so the weekends at school are very boring!). Cody has some conferences he is going to for his independent studies class for his Masters degree. If he can get the independent study done along with his other four classes this semester, all he will have left is his thesis/internship/independant paper thing, and then he will have his Masters! His next step is getting a test done sometime in the near future so that he can put it on his resume and get his resume sent out. Once he does and hopefully finds a job, we need to start looking for places to live after we graduate. We have so much to do this semester! I guess I just need to take it one step at a time.

I have really been wanting a tank top that says "Bride" on it is rhinestones, but all of the ones I have found online and in stores are like $20-$30, and I really don't want to pay that just for a tank top. So...yesterday we stopped by Hobby Lobby and I found these iron-on rhinestone letters where you just cut out the letters and iron them onto any clothing that you want. I can't wait to try it. And they were only about $5.00 for an alphabet (all of the letters repeat at least once so I can get multiple shirts out of one sheet). I will post a picture of a shirt when I get it done. Here is kind of what I got:

hehe! Thanks SerendipityCrafts and Goin2theChapel! I am dork, but I have to save $$ where I can with still having fun!

I am starting to freak out! I was reading through some of the girls' journals and they seem to have so much planned and figured out! I just don't know what to do! There are so many things that I need to get and start putting together, but I just don't have the money! I don't know what to do!! :frown: My parents said that they would help me when they could, but I hate going to them to ask for money. It is not like they are rolling in the dough either. I am starting to get super freaked out!

I am kind of bummed. I made that shirt the other day, and I must not have had the iron long enough, because when I washed it (I even turned it inside out just like the package said), one of the rhinestones came off. I am not sure if I can re-iron it on. I am going to let it hang dry and then maybe try.

Work has been psycho lately. We are moving our offices into a new building, so everything has been really crazy!! I have even had to work overtime, and I am just a student worker! Oh well, at least the money is nice!

BUMMER about the shirt I am sorry, those things never work for me either. Sorry work is so busy, but like you said at least the money may make it worth it just a little bit right?? Your tickers is getting down there too! Only four more months! WAHOO!

I wouldn't worry about it, I get worried EVERYDAY about money, just take one thing at a time, when you have the money start buying little things here and there! That is what I am going to do, or have done. When I get paid I put a little away and put it down for Bridesmaids gifts or I save it in a savings account and go from there. YOu will be just fine!!!

Nickebride: I know! I cannot believe that there is almost four months left! We have been engaged since August 12 of 2005, so this seems so unreal that the time is almost here after that long! And thanks about the $$ advice. I have been trying to just buy one thing at a time. My mom is giving me $200 so I can start on decorations and little stuff (like the ring pillow). That way I won't have to use my own $$ as much. That will help out a ton!

70707Bride: I can't wait either!! woo hoo!

BriansBride07: I actually went to a craft store and found this glue that is specifically for rhinestones and beads on fabric. I guess you just glue the jewels on and they should be perminant (sp?). It was only $4.00, so I figure even if I have to glue some of the pieces back onto the shirt after everytime I wash it, it won't be that bad.

Saturday, my mom and I went to a bridal show in Davenport, IA. It wasn't as beneficial as it was when I went last year because I already have a good idea of the things I want this year. But it was still fun! They even had a style show there, and it was really neat. The good thing about it was that my mom actually won us tickets there on a local TV show (Paula Sands Live). So that saved us both $10! After the bridal show, we went to eat at Red Lobster and THAT was sooo good!!

One more thing, and then I will shut up (because I know this is a long post. I have more to talk about, but I will do it later). But here is the cake topper Cody and I got last night. I had seen it in magazines for about $40, but they had it at Hallmark for $22. We are planning on putting sugar flowers around it. Not sure of the flower type yet though. That is my big next decision.

That's was my thoughts about having them on display and I wanted something that would last to..I guess you can get containers and some have containers that they come in, but I don't like diplaying things under glass either...I know I'm weird..I also wanted something that symbolized two becoming one too! Anyhow..I don't know about you but I can't wait for summer!!

Stuff is really starting to come together and I am getting a better visual of everything and it makes me feel better! I have a ton of pictures to post, so bare with me!!

First, I'll start with trying on MY dress for the first time! Just my mom and I went (yesterday). I love my dress and I cannot wait to get it hemmed so that it flows and lays better! Here are a couple of pictures! (oh..and the only alteration I need besides the hem are adding in boob cups so that I don't have to wear a bra, and that only costs $15.00! Woo hoo!

Through work, my dad was able to get these candles for free. It is some program that sends free stuff to schools. Anyways, I thought they were perfect fo the reception table decorations. They aren't that tall, but they are really simple and pretty. And they are free!
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/DSC02480.jpg

I thought that having the mirrors set up like the below photo in the middle of the rows of three tables will look really pretty with the white candles on them. I have red glass gems to put around the candles. We will have to play around with the idea. But I think I can get the mirrors for $0.50 a piece, so that would be really cheap and look really nice.

Your dress is gorgeous and looks great on you already!

I would keep the candles plain and just put them on the mirror base with either the crystals or flower petals. I don't care for the ribbons on the tops of the candles.

Your ring pillow looks great and it's a great price.

shawnsgirl- Thank you so much! Of course you can steal my idea! There is some place that will preserve them for us. I am not sure of the name, but I will try to find it out for you.

BriandBride07- Thanks as well! I like the monogram idea, but how exactly do you think I should do it?

lize566- Thanks and the designer is Maggio Sottero and the dress style name is "Porsha Lynette"

Ladymelissa- Thanks! Yeah, I am not too fond of the candles as well. Do you think they will look too boring without anything on them?

Twigler
02-03-2007, 08:35 PM
I just wanted to post one more photo. Since it is around Valentines day, red and silver are everywhere! Cody and I found Hershey Kisses in just red and silver. The only problem was that the ribbon said "be mine" or "Happy Valentines Day." Anyways, we decided to buy them anyways and just cut off the ribbon. Here is how they turned out. I am really happy with them! I was worried that they would look really dumb and cheap, but I don't think they do. I put clean glue on the ends of the ribbon so they won't fray. I don't think you will ever be able to see that in the dark reception hall. 18 done, 118 to go!

Twigler

Last night, Cody and I went and got some more of the wedding stuff done at Factory Card Outlet Store and Wal-Mart. We got for the reception:

Napkins (we will have personalized ones for the cake table)
cake plates
silverware
punch cups
coffee cups
bubbles
streamers
Champaign Glasses:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/catalogimageservlet.jpg

We still have to get the dinner plates, but we are getting plastic ones (Solo), and they did not have any silver plates so we have to order them online. With everything but the cups and silverware (which is just clear), we are using both silver colored and red.

Twigler
02-11-2007, 04:14 PM
We also got the guys' tuxes figured out! We got the tuxes at Nebrebos. When I went the the bridal expo, I won $20 off each tux so that helped a ton!

Cody will be in a black tux, black shirt, and red tie and vest.
The Groomsmen will be in black tuxes, black shirts, and silver ties and vests.
The fathers, ushers and my brother will be in black tuxes, white shirts, and silver ties and vests.

here is the design and colors of the vests (the red and silver):
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/DSC02507-web.jpg

Here is somewhat what they will look like (different vests though). The silver one is what the fathers, ushers and my brother will be wearing (since the shirt is white):

ladymelissa: Thanks!

I bought my veil today off ebay. I am a little nervous about getting it, because I was reading through some of the Member's feedback (after I had boughten the veil of course), and there are 12 negative feedbacks in 6 months. Most of them are that the item never arrived and that the seller is not sending them their refund or responding to them at all. I am a little scared that it is not going to be what is posted in the item description/images. The veil is white, 2 tiers, with beading on the edges. The length of the top tier is 24 inches and the second one is 29 inches. This is suppose to be the veil anyways:

I am not really sure what they are made of. But you could always get some stencils and paint and do the monogram, or some rhinestones and place them on there. Or not sure if it would work or not but the glass etching stuff you can get from your local craft store. Just make sure that everything you use is heat resistant.

Thanks everyone for such nice words!! I love it here!!!

Here is basically what I am doing for our invites. I want to add more to the actual written part of the invite (more decorations or something). Again, it will be a folder (see one of my earlier posts in my journal for pics of an example) Let me know what you think!
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/designalone.jpg

The red and gray areas will be red and silver sparkle paper (it has some glitter to it), 60lb weight, so it will be really thick and heavy. I am still trying to figure out if I want the actual printed invite to be on vellum with nothing behind it but the red folder, or do I want to print it on the white and then have the silver behind that (like it is here). I think I am leaning towards the vellum, just to give it a different look. Plus, it will save me $$ in the long run by only using one sheet on that side. I don't have the wording/text size just right either. I need to mess with it more. The paper for it should be coming in any time (I get it through work, and they are giving me the price that it costs them to buy it, not the price we sell it to a customer, which will help me out a ton!)

I worked on more of my favors last night. I got two more bags of hershey kisses done (so about 36 favors). It took me so long to make the bows look half-way decent! Jeez! I am also going to put tulle around the bubbles as well and tie a ribbon around the neck of the bubbles. I'll start that AFTER I finish the favors!

Well, class is about to start and I have talked enough for right now.

NicksBride

Nicksbride: I'd like to take the claim of coming up with that idea, but I actually found it on a wedding invite website. I like it though, because I have never seen an invite like that before.

Basically, all of the slips on the right side are little information cards. The red part is the folder and the silver pieces are inserts that will go into the folder. Each one of them are a different size, but the part that is showing above the folder is an equal distance apart (I hope that didn't confuse you!). The RSVP is designed so that it can be sent as a postcard (the postage is cheaper doing it that way). I don't have those totally designed yet, but I will post them on here when I do to see what everyone thinks.

I think also that behind the vellum, we are going to print a collage of photos of Cody and I. I think it will give it a nice touch...I guess we will see. I am suppose to print them tonight, but since they aren't ready, we are going to wait until next week. I still have to get the wording correct on the inserts.

Yippy, class time:chair:

I think also that behind the vellum, we are going to print a collage of photos of Cody and I. I think it will give it a nice touch...I guess we will see. I am suppose to print them tonight, but since they aren't ready, we are going to wait until next week. I still have to get the wording correct on the inserts.

Yippy, class time:chair:

heheh they look great and not too busy in the design A+ for invitations

Thanks Suzukigirl!

Here is my final design for the invites. I designed the heart logo from the Illustrator brush tool. Let me explain the actual invitation part. I am going to print our images (the collage of photos) onto white paper. The photos will be printed with black ink. Then over that, we will have the invite text printed black onto vellum paper. To join the image paper to the vellum, we will use a ribbon (not a bow). The the image paper will be glued to the red folder.

Actually, I only used Illustrator to design the heart logo. I used the brush tool and made one heart, then copied it to make the second one. With everything else, I designed them in InDesign CS2. As for how I am sending them, I am going to use transparent envelopes so that the red folder will show through.

Well, today is a crappy day. It is raining outside and everything is freezing. I was suppose to go over to Cody's grangparent's house with Cody, his parents, and his little nephew (our ring bearer), but not we decided not to because of the weather!

In other newd, I ordered our toasting flutes today. Here is a picture of them. The swirl part is going to be silver, not gold and then we will have them personalized with "Chelsea" "Cody" and "June 9, 2007".

Thanks everyone!

As for the bad weather, it just got worse after I got off of the computer! We ended up losing power around 4:00 on Saturday and didn't get it back until midnight. My fiance's parents lost their power around 1:00 Saturday and it just came back yesterday! Their house was down to 40-some degrees! There is a stretch outside of where my parents live where 17 powerlines in a row were snapped in half. And guess what is going on right now...freezing rain! haha! I sure hope this storm isn't like last time!

Here are three images from the last storm (I did not take them, but they are from our area):

I saw on your checklist that you are making labels for your water bottles. That is what we're going to do for our favors. It's something different, and since a lot of our guests are going to be going to the game afterwards, we figured it was somehow appropriate. Let me know how they turn out. ;)

Yesterday, Cody and I went to a friend's wedding and reception. Her reception was in the same place that mine is going to be (the local VFW). Here are two pics of the front of the room. They had their DJ on the stage, but we are going to put the bridal party up there and the DJ will be in the corner of the room. That way, there is more room for dancing! Plus, we are going to fix the lights so that the entire strand works correctly! lol!

I LOVE your invites. They turned out really well.
Pretty reception site.

For the labels, what we're probably going to do is get regular envelope labels (the big ones - 2 1/4" x 3/4" I think), in both the white and the clear. We'll print our names and date on the white label, and maybe put some polka dots, or something on them (have to see). Then put the clear labels over the white. That way the labels looks "shiny" and the ink shouldn't run. That's the plan anyway. Mark also has decal paper (he customizes McFarlane figures, or at least has done one), so we might use that - but then we have to cut everything out. We'll have to see.

Thanks Nicksbride!

Thanks for the information Panthers Bride. I will have to look into that. I never thought about putting the glossy paper over top of the other paper.

In other news...I had the WORSE scare last night/today. Basically I found out through a friend that her friend was having problems with their wedding dress place, and that it is in the same town as were I got the BM dresses. So I ask her the name of the place and she tells me last night. I come to find out that it is the same place as where I got our bridesmaid dresses! THE PLACE WENT BANKRUPT AND IS CLOSED. The girls have paid for their dresses but they have not come in yet. I tried calling several times and the phone just rang and rang. So I call the police and they have me file a police report (I am not the first one to have this problem). If we do not get our dresses like we are suppose to, it will go to a civil court case.

Finally, I do get ahold of someone at the dress place. I guess a lady is working there just a few hours a day trying to get everything figured out. I guess the owner just up and left (rumor has it that he may have taken some of the people's money). Supposidly (sp), the lady said that he is going to honor the people who have their orders alreay in and that we WILL get our dresses. GOD I HOPE SO!! She said that my dresses are scheduled to be in around April 9th, and that if the owner doesn't call me by the 10th, that I need to call him. So she gave me his home phone number to call if I don't hear from him. Now I have to wait until April 9th to see if the guy is sincere and will actually give me the dresses like he is suppose to do! It's not like I am stressed out enough!!!!

And I don't like doing this, but just so you all know, the place is called "Wedding Expressions" in Burlington, IA

As much as my last post stunk, I did have a few good things that have happened lately. The first is that I have basically found the perfect flower girl dress. It is from JCPenney. My flower girl won't quite be two years old, so I think this dress will look so cute on her!
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/AtleysDress.jpg

Also, the wine glasses came in and they are really pretty! I also ordered my garters. I am going to try to find something else for my "something blue." I asked Cody what he wanted, since the garters are kind of his thing, and he said he loved these so that is what I got:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g232/twigler/Garters.jpg

In non-wedding news, I got a letter in the mail today, and because of my grades, WIU wants me to be a marshal for WIU's graduation ceremony! I feel really honored! Cody was a marshal when he graduated as well. He graduated with a 4.0 and so far, I am headed in the same direction (I just need to survive this semester, and I am not sure I am going to!!!)

Lastly, as of 1:01 (after I get off work) I am officially on Spring Break!! Cody and I are going to drive to Dayton, Ohio to stay with my Matron of Honor and one of the groomsmen (they are married and both our best friends). I can't wait! I am a little sad though because this will be my last Spring Break ever, but I am also glad in the same way. I want to grow up but yet again I don't:bbconfused:

Ok, that is it. I prob won't be on here for a few days because I will be in Ohio. I hope all goes well for everyone!! Talk to you soon!

Thanks everyone for the care and thoughts! So far, I have heard nothing new on the dresses, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

And as if last week couldn't get any worse...it did big time!

I got home from work around 1:15 and around 3:00, Cody and I were almost done packing to leave for Ohio to see our friends. Well, my supervisor calls and she told me that she and the boss were talking and basically, I will have no job when I graduate. DPS had given me their word that I could work there as a temp after I graduate and that it would most likely turn full time. Well, I guess they are really behind on their budget and so they can't afford me. THIS SUCKS!! And the even shittier thing is that since it is a job with the state, I have to test for the Civil Service Exam and I have already gone to the meeting and my appointment to test is Monday the 19th. I told my boss that I was going to take the test and she was so excited and told me to do really good....She told me that on wednesday: two days before she told me I wouldn't have a job.

Now, I basically have two months until I graduate to find a freaking job. I am so stressed out with everything else going on and now I have to start from scratch looking for a job. I really don't know what to do! And Cody is looking for a job too, so we have no idea where we are going to live. As of June 1st, we are kicked out of our apartment and have to find somewhere to live. I am scared to death now! I guess at least I had a good Spring Break (I tried to forget about everything and it worked for a while). Can anything go right for me right now?!
