Anyone have any advice on the film v. digital wedding photographers out there? There is so much out there it is quite overwhelming. What should I watch out for??????????

The really nice thing about digital photography is that all the bad shots can be deleted. Plus they can do editing to the images to take out any glare and such before it gets printed.
For Wedding photography i would recomend you go digital.

No they can print the out just as nicely on teh same quality of paper...or they can do a digital album, which is what we are getting. Basically in a digital album the pics are printed right on the pages of the album...kinda like a coffee table book....it's actually pretty cool!!!

If things work out right, we'll have both digital and film.

As a former wedding photographer I prefer film, just less risk IMO. Plus film as stood the test of time with long lasting images, we just don't know that with digital yet. A good photographer can do all the same touch ups, effects and 'magazine style' coffee table albums with film, you just have to have the images scanned.
I don't know I think it is a photographers personal preference. What you should look for is skill of the photographer and quality of the finished prints, not so much what type of camera the photographer uses. Plus the papers the images are printed on make a big difference too!
Anyone with a camera can call themselves a Photographer, and there are alot of 'hacks' out there. Ask if they have a business license, this will usually tell you if they are taking what they do seriously. Be sure to see samples of a whole wedding too! Anyone can get lucky with a handful of good shots here and there. And ask for references from past brides.
Good luck!

I prefer good old fashion film. With the programs and labs today any photographer will be able to edit and change your pictures to black and white or crop them. That is no big deal. The pictures are clearer, they take faster, and they look better.

I have to agree with Brandi...when looking for my photographer, I looked for the style I wanted, not what camera they would be using. I did end up with digital pictures, but that's not really an issue for me. Plus, I got all the negatives, which is so much easier to store when it's digital!
The way I look at it, they'll probably come up with something to phase out both digital and film in ten to twenty years, so it doesn't really matter which way you go. My suggestion would be to look for the style pictures you want. Good luck!
