Okay, I'm feeling totally overwhelmed by invitations. Not the wording, I've got that all set, but by which invitation to pick. I seem to like just about every invitation I look at. Fh is no help, he says it's up to me and he doesn't care nor does he want to think about invitations. I know he'd like blue, but this is because blue is his favorite color and he thinks everything should be blue so I take that with a grain of salt. If it's any help, our wedding colors are blue (yes, that was FH's idea) and yellow.

Oh, I totally know how you feel there! My FH is and has been no help in planning our wedding what so ever. I am however lucky that he does come to all our appts with me.

Our wedding colors are pink and black, so I just started searching online for pink and black invites and then possibly something to do with our theme "gothic" (not the gothic you're probably thinking about lol) and I was lucky to find some pretty inexpensive ones. I found ours at: theamericanwedding.com
and here is a what ours look like:

Do you have a theme? Do you want to incorporate your wedding colors into your invites? If so, I'd start there.

I seem to like just about every invitation I look at.

If this is the case, I would suggest "overwhelming" yourself even more.
It seems counterintuitive, but I found that by staring at thousands of them one after the other in one sitting, I could actually filter much better. Everything was pretty at first, but after seeing hundreds of invites with hearts and bows, I found myself really hating hearts and gravitating toward a certain look. I would bookmark ones you find especially pretty, go back later and look through all of these to see if there's a pattern - maybe you like the square invites vs. the standard card size, or you like something that has a pocketfold for all the insert cards.

I hope this helps!

Have you looked at any invitations in person? I looked and looked (and looked some more!!) online and felt like I was going crazy. Then one day when I was in Alfred Angelo I sat down and looked at all of their samples. Being able to see and feel the invitations was a lifesaver. It really pulled it all together for me. Chad and I narrowed it down to three that day and with all of your help, I picked a wonderful invite that I am still so in love with. I had seen these online, but when I saw how iridescent the paper was and felt the texture, etc it was much easier to make a decision. Most of the invitations at Alfred Angelo, David's Bridal, etc can be found online so you don't have to order through those companies.

I know it sounds trite, but you'll know "the one" when you see it. I found the invitations I wanted and knew instantly that it was "the one"...unlike when I met FH - I was certain he wasn't...but I digress...

I showed FH the invites and he immediately knew they were too.

You should just keep looking and not put so much pressure on yourself. You'll find it if you just sit back, relax, and enjoy the process! :)

Hmmm... I think I agree with the person who said to look at a bunch of them 'cause soon you'll be able to figure out what you do and don't like about certain ones. Or if you really do like all of them, you could try and go with the cheapest ones. Or you could also try and find some that have both of your colors in them. I briefly tried doing that once with our colors and didn't have very good luck... but you might.

I went back and fourth between a lot of invitations. Was going to make them myself, them realized I do not have the time. Went to a stationary store, that was really overwhelming. I ended up changing my mind about 15 min before I places the order (yesterday), to an invitation I had not even looked at before. Got them from finestationary.com I have not received them yet so I don't know how well they will turn out but I had a lot of fun with they customization tool. You can see all your wording on the invitation you like, it helped me weed out things that my wording did not fit on.

this bears repeating I think.
Also, you may already have an idea of what you think your wedding invite should look like (sort of like your dress or the general feel of your wedding) you just don't know how to put it into words or concrete thoughts.
You may think that the best feel for your wedding is super casual while someone else might think "wedding" and think "formal"
so be sure to jot down little notes as to what you're thinking no matter how silly you might think it is.

thats a really good idea. I never thought of looking in person. I don't need my invitations yet, but I'll have to keep that in mind.
