Geez....I'm guilty now too, of looking at dresses after finding "the" dress....and wondering if I should switch quick or just stay with the one I have. Ohhhh nooooooooo.
The new dress is basically the same style as the one I have now with minor changes...but changes that I think I like more than what I have now. It's still a strapless, sweetheart neckline. But the dress comes in white (which I prefer over ivory since we're having a black, red, and white wedding) and the band that separates trumpet skirt from the fitted part of the dress is black. Which I absolutely looooove. And the train is just a little sweep train, so I wouldn't have to have a bustle. And...it's $200. And since my ring is black diamonds, I was thinking it would "fit" a little better. And my girls have black sashes on their BM dresses and I'd have a black band on my dress, although it'd be further down, of course. I'd be saving $175 from not needing alterations, because it would be the size I needed and not 2 sizes bigger like the dress I have now, which is basically the price of this dress! And I have black satin peeptoe shoes....so I think it'd look awesome. I saw it online and sucked in a breath of air and went "UH OH". Because I already bought a dress and I really think that I'd prefer this one. And because it's simple, but classic, and "me". :censored:!!!
But I love the dress I have now too. I wish it was white rather than ivory, but it's a really beautiful dress and I got a great deal on it. It's pretty heavy though with the chapel train and being bridal satin...might get a tad hot at the end of May. Both of our moms have saw my dress that I have now and they both really like it....but they both really liked every dress that I e-mailed to them too. And it seems super formal to me for a garden wedding. But it's an evening (5:30pm) wedding, although it'll still be sunny, so I figured it'd be okay. But since my hubby and his GMs will be wearing their uniforms instead of suits, it seems a little "off".
Geeeeeeeeez. I don't know what to do!!!!!!!

Here's a link to the "new" dress. It's actually a BM dress....and it would be bright white with a black sash.

It's simple....but it seems so "me" that I just want to rip my hair out for not seeing it earlier. LOL AHhhhhhhh!

No way! Seriously, you have one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen. Please don't switch! Plus, you totally look awesome in it.

Oh i'm so glad I'm not the only one with wedding dress dilema. I've had my dress for over a year...will be 2 when we get married. Now we got this dress like 4-6 weeks after I had my son. Well since then I've also put back on some of the baby weight that I lost right after having him. :irked: But yesterday I was at a resale shop where they have brand new dresses. I just looked at them and saw a beautiful nice strapless with very simple beadwork. I never even tried the silly thing on!!! its like 200 for the dress and i only paid like 100 for the one in my closet. I had dreams of myself in that 2nd dress last night. I've never had dreams of the other one...ugh. I didn't even want a strapless gown honestly but I might see what I can do to maybe get a trade for my dress for some money off the other one and then buy the second one. I still have to talk to FH about this because he also helped pick out 1st dress and this one would be new to him and he wouldn't see it til that day...ooooo the choices. How can I love a dress I didn't try on

I haven't seen your first dress, but that second one is beautiful. I did the same thing. I bought a dress and while I really liked it, I wasn't in love. I would put it on and even though it was a lovely dress, it didn't feel like my dress. I went to David's Bridal after months of trying to convince FH that I just wanted to look. I bought the first dress I tried on. I love it and wouldn't change it for the world. Before it though, I was looking at dresses online constantly at work. I haven't looked at another dress since I bought my new one, though.

My MOH just weighed in on the decision and thinks the second one is more "me" also. But she said both dresses are beautiful, so it's up to me. Gah! I really do love the dress I have. It's really pretty and very flattering, but this second one....man. I'm so stuck! Grrr....whhyyyyy did I have to keep looking when I already have a dress at the seamstresses?!

The second Dress is lovely. But how about keeping Your original Dress. Which i think is absolutely stunning. And getting a Black Sash added?
No need for another Dress. That way You get the Black to match Your Ring without the worry of what to do with the original Dress.
Best of both worlds.

I went through the same thing you are going through. I had to go back and look at your dress and I love that dress but it doesn't matter what I think. I do really like the other one too. When I was in your shoes I also looked at other dresses all the time and now that I bought the other one I never look at dresses. You have to do what it in your heart. I looked at it this way it is your day and you should be happy so do what it takes to make it so. Good luck! I don't think you can go wrong by keeping the one you have because you look great in it but do what you think is best. Keep us updated.

So I told my mom and sent her the new dress and she said "Absolutely NOT!"...so it looks like I'll be staying with the first dress after all. I do love it, there's just something about the other one that I love too.

But I'll definitely be talking to my seamstress about this and see what she says. Thanks for the idea Mitch! :D

I'm struggling with this too - I love my dress but I got it in ivory and bought the one that they had in the store to save some money rather then buying a new one in white (the one in the store had just come in that week so not a lot of people would have tried it on).
Oh the decisions.....good luck with yours!

Ok I just went back to look at your original dress....both are really beautiful and similar.
I'd stick with your original but see about getting the black sash if you want it like Mitch suggested.

The first dress is stunning and looks great on you. While dress #2 is more simple and maybe more your style everyday- your wedding day is NOT everyday!! I think you should step it up a bit on your wedding day and dress #1 does that without being overdone.

I talked to DH about this today since I'm still stuck as to what to do. He's so easy going about everything.....he told me to go to the store that has the new dress tomorrow, try it on, and if I like it, we'll order it quick and try to sell the other one. I have another thread kind of related to this in the rants section, but it shows the hair and makeup look that I'd like and the shoes I already have to give you an idea of exactly why I want a different dress......

I had dress regret too and ended up buying a second dress. In the end you have to go with your heart. No one else can tell you what's right. That said, I think the first dress is beautiful. They're both beautiful and I have to say I'm jealous. I would look awful in that style. Lucky you - you look great!
