I was at Wal-mart this morning, and they have packs of 12 white votive candles already in holders. They cost a little under $6.

I was thinking of maybe getting those and then somehow, glueing on a ribbon flat near the top of the holder. Then it'd have some color to it.

I have some questions about it for anyone who's ever done this type of thing... Would it be possible to do that without the glue melting, though? And what kind of glue would work best for something like that? Would some type of fabric glue work?

I probably won't be purchasing the stuff for this for several months, but I wanted to ask these things while the idea is fresh in my head.

I don't remember who, but I know someone here did that and they turned out cute.

If you check out the Martha Stewart website she has lots of variations of this, with both ribbon or velum paper, even a type of cord if I recall correctly. I'm sure she has the recommended adhesive too (plus you could always test a few out, but I don't think you should have any problem) Good luck! a great idea I think. :)

I made these as favors for my mom's birthday party. I used regular scrapbook paper and wrapped the glass and used Alene's Tacky Glue. Then I also wrapped a ribbon around the middle and used the same glue. They turned out really cute! I still have some leftover, so when I get home I'll take a picture and post it.

Ooh, that is a cute idea.

I bought those exact votives for my wedding! I wrapped each with a piece of vellum that I punched snowflakes out of. I attached it with glue dots. Why not buy one votive and some ribbon and experiment?

That's a good idea. I think I'll do that.
