ebay dress!

So, I went ahead and did it. I ordered my dress on ebay last night! I read all the horror stories plastered all over the net about how all wedding dresses on ebay are a scam, blah, blah, blah...and decided to do my research on the seller and gown. In my mind, as long as you are smart about it, ebay is great! The dress should arrive by Monday, so keep your fingers crossed, ladies!

It's not that I believe all things found on Ebay are of low quality but, I myself won't spend more than $50 or $60 buying anything from an auction site (that is just the limit to how much I am willing to lose). Online stores are another matter :rofl:

The dress is from an actual brick and mortar store and they are just trying to make room for new dresses. It's not a reproduction, and I lucked out because there was no reserve price and I only ended up paying $120 with shipping and insurance. And if I get it and hate it, I can just turn around and put it right back on ebay and I'll only be out about $20. I can't wait for it to get here!

I bought my first dress on ebay from a real bridal shop that went out of business. I never had any problems. I'm not sure about buying from one of those reproduction sellers that make the dress for you in china, but I think as long as you research the seller, you should have great luck.

for my 1st marriage i had ordered a dress online but we went to court house. The dress fit me nicely and i never used it. when my little sis got married i gave it to her as they were short on cash. it was nice on me but it fit her better and seemed to be "her" dress. so as long as your comfortable with it and with the seller don't worry. I'd be more worried about ordering from overseas (china). Good luck and congrats!!!!

I think you'll be just fine--sounds like a great deal! I bought my Maggie gown on eBay, for $200 because it was a discontinued dress and this woman had a store sample. The reports of scams and problems with quality come with those auctions where you pay some dirt cheap price for a knockoff made in China. Some people have had great success with these too, but it's not something I would do.

I just sold a few of my dresses on ebay that are good quality, so dont think all ebay people are scammers or low quality.

Both dresses I purchased at a bridal store for over $600 and 1 sold for $300 and the other sold for $600. I lost some $ for those dresses but I did get to wear them on my wedding and I didnt want them sitting in my closet. I am just glad someone else was able to enjoy them for half the cost.

If you use Paypal to buy items on Ebay they will protect you. If you don't receive the item they refund your money then they go after the person who sold it to you. My sister bought a diamond on Ebay that turned out to be fake. She put in a claim into Paypal. They refunded her money no questions asked, because she had the diamond appraised by a jeweler. I know she spent close to $7,000 for it too. I always use Paypal when I shop on Ebay. If the seller doesn't accept Paypal too bad. They don't get my sale.

Also emilycake you'll be fine. There are several brick and mortar bridal shops that sell dresses on Ebay. There are also people who sell their used wedding dresses on Ebay. Then there are the people who sell knockoffs or custom wedding dresses. These sellers from China do tell you in their auction that the dress is a knockoff that will be made to suit. I have read of girls who bought from the China dress sellers, and they were really pleased with the results. However, you bought from a brick and mortar store. If they send you anything not like the listing not only can you leave bad feedback on Ebay, but you can also complain to the BBB. I hope you don't have to do that though.

I did use PayPal, so I'm fairly confident everything will work out fine. It's good to know that some of you have had good experiences with this. I just tracked my package and it might be here by tomorrow! I can't wait!:)

Ok, so I got my dress and just haven't had time to post pictures! I received it on Saturday in this little perfectly square box, so I was a little concerned...but it's BEAUTIFUL!

you just have to do research when shopping on ebay. i got my dress on ebay also and i love it. it actaully just came on saturday.
