Has anyone here had or considered having a tubal reversal? There are many qualified doctors who've been offering this service for a long time. I've been following Dr. Berger in Chapel Hill, NC and his patients have had tremendous success! Who knew it was possible?

Ideally, the TR can't happen until we've sold our current home and settled into a new one. We're hoping to have a new little one by 2010 or 2011. If it's a boy, he will be a junior, but if it's a girl, we've chosen Sarah Christina. :)

For those of you who pray, please keep us in mind in regard to being able to conceive.

As usual, no one knows about our plans except my little sister and my OW sisters. LOL!

I have always heard this sort of thing didn't always work and that it put you at greater risk for a tubal pregnancy.

I am sure there are many factors to consider, so be sure to discuss them all with your Dr.

All the best to you!

Brandi,

DH and I always talked about adopting, because I didn't even know that TR was possible until about a year ago. Dr. Berger's practice has a great deal of success.

I didn't even think about the possibility of a tubal pregnancy. I'll keep that in mind. :( My mom had one between the birth of my oldest brother and me, but she never had a TR.

Anyone interested could check out his message boards at http://forums.tubal-reversal.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php

Please delete the link if I violated a rule. LOL!

I don't know the details, but a friend of DHs had a TR a few years ago and had a bad tubal pregnancy.

Good to hear that adoption is an option for you too ... Hope the best for you and your family!

My sister-in-law had one done about 10 years ago and had great success with it. She and my brother had a baby less than a year after the surgery and my nephew is a happy, healthy, very smart little 8 (turns 9 this month) year old boy!

Best of luck to you!

Thanks, everyone! I've only heard about the TR process from women on the TR message board and you've provided input based on experiences of friends and family, which is what I was hoping to hear. This is very helpful!

Brandi, do you know if DH's friend tried again or if it was just too risky and heartbreaking?

Kelly, that is awesome news! BTW, your nephew is just a few weeks younger than my youngest. She turned 9 on 12/19. Here we go trying to add more to the Cook bunch. LOL!

Brandi, do you know if DH's friend tried again or if it was just too risky and heartbreaking?Like I said, I don't know all the details, but I think she had to have a hysterectomy ... I think there were some other problems though, but she was is her 30's.

Hmm, my mom had a hysterectomy as well, but it was long after her childbearing years. I wonder if there's some kind of connection between her tubal when she was young and her hysterectomy later in life. Interesting. I'll have to ask my mom to give me more of her personal medical details then. So much to think about.

Nothing wrong with doing all the research and weighing all the options and risks so you can make an informed decision :)

We're having the TR done and have set a date! :cloud9:

I consulted with my regular OB/GYN and two TR doctors for some professional advice, as well as conducted a ton of independent research. The odds are GREAT and the success rates are incredibly high, so we're happy with our decision.

Hopefully, we'll be TTC'ing very soon! :teddy_wave:

Thanks! We're excited, but both know that if it's not God's will, we'll still be happy. Disappointed, but still feeling blessed. We're already blessed with four children. :hearts:

Thanks, ladies! I'm  to be an incubator and cow again. I'm an evil incubator (sick all the time and take it out on the world), but DH said he's ready for it.

Haley, DH SOOOOOOO thinks he's mentally ready to deal with me, but my sister thinks he's underestimating how awful I can be. I will try my best to not be evil, but I can't make any promises. LOL! I'll just have to keep repeating something we heard at a marriage retreat two weeks ago: "Ask yourself do YOU want to win or do you want your MARRIAGE to win?" That'll calm me down, hopefully.

Congrats on your little one! I just found out that two of my friends from Sunday school are expecting and one of them is 6 weeks along like you!

DH just paid the surgical fee and we're on the schedule for 12/21/09. Wee hoo! I'm taking off two weeks to recoup after the surgery. We'll TTC about a month later.

:congrats:to me!

BTW, we're going with another doctor that we found. His success rate is through the roof and his bedside manner is fabulous.

Thanks, ladies! I told DH that I don't think I'm gonna drive myself crazy w/charting, testing, etc. I was pretty fertile before, so we'll let nature do its thing in its time. Then again, I might end up anxious and get a 24-pack of opk's and pt's. Who am I fooling? LOL!

I've had 2 sections, so the TR incision will be in the same place. I'm anxious about the pain already though. I'll be off my feet for two weeks, so I told DH that I need a bell. Seeing as though it's nearly Christmas season, bells are abundant, so I'm in luck!

Here's to being on my back and making it count soon!

Thanks, Gwen!

Melissa, TRs are quite common and successful. I didn't know that until a couple of years ago.

If anyone on the board is pondering having children after a TL, you should know that many doctors steer couples to IVF, which has a very low success rate. A lot of doctors don't bother learning how to do TRs, because IVF is a way for doctors to guarantee repeat patients and it's ridiculously expensive. If the first $10k round of IVF doesn't work, there's no baby and it's back to the drawing board with another $10k. We paid one time for the TR. After the surgery, nature will do the rest; like the TL never occurred. :lafhard: Sure, there are risks, but pregnancies are risky anyway. My other ones were high risk and resulted in many, many, many bouts of preterm labor, hospital visits to stop the labor, and finally c-sections.

Since I'll be down and out for a couple of weeks in December, I won't be able to drive the kids to their activities. More time for OW!!!
