I've been pricing out veils, and WOW! They all seem so not what I want, and so way over priced. I have priced out the fabrics, my skills and the rhinestones or what not and it seems like such a better idea to make it myself. I get exactly what I want and literally at third of the price.

I have found everything I need except the hair clip...I looked a local craft shops and FH's suggestion is look on ebay (I don't think he understands what I'm looking for). I just want a plain hair comb so I can have the veil sit about the crown of my noggin. I don't want a tiara, or head band...but I can't find a plain comb like I've been looking for. Any ideas?

I know what you mean. I think you could find these in the hair section at Target, Wal-Mart, etc.

I got all my hair stuff at Claires and Icing in the mall. I know it may seem like we're too old for those stores, but they had the cutest stuff!

I actually got my veil and tiara on ebay for under $30. Never been used and still in the packages. My veil has crystals and pearls scattered all over and its a 3 tier, and my tiara is something simple almost looks like a headband with crystals all the way around it. I didnt want anything too pagent looking. If you get frustrated trying to make one, I would definitely look at ebay. I've gotten a lot of my wedding stuff off ebay and I couldnt be happier.

I've seen those clear plastic hair combs at the dollarstore before as well as at Walmart.

I got my tiara - a really simple pearl and crystal one - on ebay for $8 and some change.

I've been scoping out veils and you can get them fairly cheap too.

I saw a pack of clear combs labeled "headpiece combs" next to the bridal jewelry and tiaras at Hobby Lobby tonight for $1.99, plus 50% off.

I'm just telling this from personal experience. If your veil is longer/fluffier this will = more weight. The ones I had seen at the shops had metal combs. I used plastic and I had to keep futzing with it to keep it in despite attempts to stick it with hairpins. For my daughter's wedding I found the metal ones at Sam Moon in Frisco for $1.00 and I think they have a website. Otherwise I guess just google metal hair combs or try those oriental places that have jewelry, purses, and hair stuff in your area (that's the type place Sam Moon is) or try Sally's or the local hairdresser's supply.
