I have no idea where to start. I'm ready to just tell the girls to find their own **** dresses in the color I want. I want my BM's in light purple and my MOH in like a plum color. My male attendant is wearing a black tux with a light purple vest. Our colors are different shades of purple with hints of light blue, sounds weird but when you see it together, it looks good.

Any tips on where to start?

How'd you find them and then, of course, find the time to get your BM's to actually order them?

You sound like me lol...I was not to picky about the dresses I picked out 3 styles I liked and let my BM and MOH choose the style they liked the best and what looked the best on them! it turned out to work out pretty well! Maybe you should do that! then everyone will be happy :) I got my BM dresses from Alfred Angelo! I know there are TONS more to choose from but I found what I liked and went with it!

I was in the same position. I had one very short, but top-heavy bm and one that was taller...two completely different body types! I decided on what color I wanted, then started looking online for dresses that would flatter both of them. After finding some that I liked, I would email them the links and see what they thought. I also had them look online themselves just in case they wanted something different than what I had in mind. We finally all met at Alfred Angelo with a list of all the dresses and then they just tried everything on. We were able to decide on one right then and ordered them. But, it did take forever for me to get them to cooperate with me on the dresses. If you guys can't agree on one, then you can just pick the color and have them decide on the style. Good luck!

I also got my bridesmaids' dresses from Alfred Angelo. I recommend looking at the color swatches in person though. The computer distorts colors.

i took my girls to bloomingdales and set two rules:
1. black cocktail dresses of the same material
2. i get final veto power

it worked out great! each girl picked out a different dress but they all work together very nicely.

to get started, try searching online on websites that allow you to filter by color. pick out the ones you like and email them as "suggestions" to your bms, so they have an idea of what you have in mind for them.

I told them that they were grownups who managed to choose their own clothes for the first 24 - 29 years of their lives, so surely they could handle picking out a black dress (any style, any length) for my wedding. They all picked out fabulous dresses that flattered their bodies.

I would do the same for yours. I was an Alfred Angelo bridesmaid once, and I really loved what I got for the price. I actually rewore it until I met DH, who vetoed it because the color made my complexion look funny. But anyways! I would pick a designer - either AA, David's Bridal, or... I forget which designer Danielle9608 had, but it was some custom site with a lot of great options for reasonable prices (I'd PM her to ask), pick the color, and tell them to go wild within these parameters.

Good luck!

I feel the same way, how do you strike a compromise between the dresses looking good on each person, being the color you want, and not being astronomically expensive! I've been a bridesmaid and between shoes, dress, hair, etc it was about $200. Some of my bridesmaids don't have a lot of money (poor college students) and I don't want to do that to them for a dress they'll probably wear once.

i'm not sure what colors you're working with, but one way to go about it is to get black dresses (or whatever color that fits your wedding w/o screaming bridesmaid!) for the girls. i know some consider this to be a major no-no, but you can always accent it with flowers, jewelry, etc. i had my girls get knee-length black cocktail dresses in whatever styles suit their body types best from bloomingdales for between $100-$240, and they all love it! they're so excited to wear their dresses out that i've been threatening to hold their dresses hostage until the wedding in june.
