OK I'm about to sound really dumb. Since I've never been married before I have a burning question. We got married, the marriage license was signed. Then the pastor submits it to whomever he's supposed to. Then what? Do I have to request a copy of the marriage certificate to be sent to me? Or will one automatically be sent? I've been sitting here waiting for one to just show up in my mailbox so I can start my whole name change process. However, it hasn't arrived, so I'm beginning to wonder if I did something wrong here. Can anyone help?????

Mine was returned to us by the clerks office as soon as it was filed. Im not sure if its different for you, but you could call them and ask them. I had mine back 2 days after I mailed it to them, but I also included a SASE.
And you dont sound stupid.....there could be many reasons for a delay!

Normally it is automatically mailed to you. It took me a week to get mine back. If I was you, I would call and check if you don't get it back in a week or 2.

That's what I thought. THat it would just be mailed. But we were married on 5/13. Maybe I'm just impatient? Who do I call? CLerk of Courts? Sorry guys!! Thanks for all your help!!!

It should be the same place that you picked it up from.

I paid the extra to have mine mailed to me or I would have to go back to where I got it to pick it up. I was also told that if I dont have it a couple of weeks after the wedding to call them.

We didnt have to pay extra for ours. Its included in the filing fee. The only thing is without a SASE, it usually takes longer to get it back.
