Well I guess I can start posting in here now. THis could dort of be like a litlte mini life journal. How exciting I know. But let's face the cold hard facts, what would you do without me around? More importantly what would I do without you all to keep a smile on my face?
Now that I don't have a wedding to talk about in my wedding journal you all can hear about the details of life. You lucky lucky people. Check out my wedding journal in the wedding journal section for the excitment leading up to and going through that day. Here are some of my favorites.

So not only am I an old married woman but I have the whole summer off, well at least until the middle of August. I really should have taken a job teaching summer school or something. I am going to go nuts in the house with nothing to do all summer. I got most of the house put back togehter from the wedding neglect yesterday. Today I made enemies by giving the dogs a bath already this morning. Ruffles and I just got back from the vet. Her eyes are infected. Poor old girl. But I did make it up to her by stopping at Wendy's and getting us lunch. In my mind at least Ruffles loves a chicken nugget. We brought some home to Ellie too.
Tomorrow my mother is going to go in for heart surgery. I have to have her at the hospital by 7 am. So I have to be out of my house by 530. YUCK! I'm a little worried about her. She has gotten so dramatically sick in the last year. The doctor says her change in health should have taken years not months like it happened. After today don't expect me on for a couple days. I'll try to keep you all posted. If I stay down there with her for a few days though, there is no computer access.
Other than that there isn't much to report. Oh, we are having salmon for dinner. I need to go ot the farmer's market this afternoon. And, the bed needs changed. I am bored with this already. Married life doesn't seem any different though. Sean and I talked about that last night.

The sad thing is that she knew. So she walked around the house wimpering and shaking all morning. I had to carry her to the car and usually she LOVES car rides. She spent the entire time crying and trying to get in my lap which she never does. She is usually very content to sit on the seat and look out the window like a good girl. And when we got to the office she was shaking so hard you could see her hair coming out. I don't know how she knew but Ruffles was 100% sure she was going to the vet. I have to take her back on the 26th too for a followup.

Your married life journal sounds like a fantastic idea! I always enjoyed hearing about your day. Everything is so interesting. I must sounds sooo bizzar right now.
My dog would always get very upset when we took her to the vet as well. But never so bad that you could see her loosing her hair. Maybe next time she can get a chicken nugget because going to the vet.
I hope you have a great summer, and that you can enjoy the time to yourself. :D

Ok, so I finally just hauled my butt the two blocks to the post office and farmers market. The post office was no big exciting deal. Although the lady always looks at me like I am strange because she always says, "What stamps would you like, miss?" I always respond with "Surprise me." Why is that odd look inducing, as long as my mail gets there, I don't care if storybook characters, Native American Art, flags, or dead people are on it. Just a book of stamps. Surprise me, it adds excitment to my day. For the record I got the fruits and flowers of the MidWest.
Anyway now to the funny part, I go to the farmers. market. I go ever Tuesday in the summer. It is always an adventure for me. So now you know to look forward to a story every Tuesday afternoon. Since it is really early in the season there aren't a lot of farmers there and a lot to pick from. So I go over to the stand that I bought off of a lot last year. They always have a nice variety of stuff. Well I see this kid working back there and I go up and pick out my beets, strawberries, and green beans. This poor kid turns around while I am paying his dad and goes, "Ms H is that you?" I look and it is one of the middle school kids from where I work. Sometimes if they are short on subs or someone has to step out for just a minute, another regular teacher will fill during their free period. Well this particular kid is really nice but definately in need of his daily ritalin. So I know him very well. But the look on his face when I said, "Yes, J., it's me. I guess we get to see each other EVERY Tuesday now since I live right down the street, huh?" was just priceless. He looked like he didn't know whether to scream or to cry or to run.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! The cake was my brain child. Everyone said it wouldn't turn out. I told them it would and it would be fabulosu in the process. The design is taken off of Middle Eatern henna designs that women paint on their bodies for special occasions like weddings. And my girls LOVED the tea length black dresses. I know at least two of them have plans on wearing theirs again this summer to events. (Plus my bm Kelly was pregnant so Jennie and I who are roughly the same size) are thrilled to have the possibility of a black maternity cocktail dress in should either of us need it.

Ok so I am FINALLY home from my mom's heart cath. I am exhausted and can't wait to sleep in my bed tonight with Sean and the furbabies!
Anyway as you all know my mothe'rs doctor wanted her in for emergecny heart surgery the Monday before my wedding. I shouldn't say her heart docotr I should say the doctor who shares a practice with her heart doctor. (Her regular doctor has been out of the country). So she post poned the procedures until yesterday.
I get her to the hospital and get her checked in. We hang out for a little bit. Then they take her up to th cath lab for the procedure. I settle in with a book and a cup of coffee because her last heart cath (done by her regular doctor) took a good bit of time. About 10 minutes her doctor comes out, which scared the hell out of me. He looks at me and says, "Your mother has no blockages. I don't know what is wrong with her. She might have gall bladder problems, She should follow up with her regular doctor and her family practitioner." Then he starts to walk away. Only, he isn't dealing with some idiot who is too terrified of doctors and hospitals to challenge their great knowledge. He is dealing with me. And in doing so he is going to get paid back for all the stress he caused me right before my wedding. I have to take it out on someone, and he is smaller than I am; the perfect victim! So I jump in front of him and tell him that I have questions. (This is when I realize I was a half foot taller than he was.) The first question I ask is what is wrong with her? If he though that there was enouh of a blockage that emergecny surgery was needed, there had to be something wrong. His response, "I don't know her regular doctor will have to look at the films." The next question, I didn't go to medical school but I know that gall bladder problems are 99% of the time acute, and they certainly don't cause mass exhaustion, paleness, chronic chest pain, chronic shortness of breath, and a spike in cholesterol and blood pressure that my mother has been suffering over the last year. His response, "Well he doesn't really know it is just something that could potentially cause her that occasional pain, her family doctor can easily rule it out." I asked if he looked at her heart itself. Her last diagnosis was that she had an enlarged heart, a weakened heart muscle, and a weak heart pump, and a leaky heart valve. Could a change in any of those htings be making her worse. (It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that one or more of those could have gotten worse and hence made her worse.) His response, he was only concerned about looking for blockages her regular cardiologist will have to review the films and deicde on the those issues. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!! YOU LITTLE :censored: HOLE!!!!!!!! THOSE WERE THE ISSUES!!!!!!!!!!! At that point I asked why I had to be stressed through my wedding and honeymoon, wake up at 430 that morning and drive an hour, put my mother through a surgical procedure, give up a day to take care of her when I had a lot that needs done at my house, and sit in their freezing cold waiting room drinking weak coffee if he wasn't going to do his **** job? Apparently he isn't used to people talking to him like that. He said he was sorry that I wasn't pleased and that I could follow up with her regualr family doctor and cardiologist.
Was I wrong? I mean even the nurses were a little taken a back that he didn't have an actual diagnosis and he treated me like that. I mean her chart was obviously there. He talked with her before the procedure. Why wouldn't you look at the already diagnosed issues first to assess those then check on what your hypothesis was?
On a light note though, they sealed the insertion site with a little collegne plug. (I think that is how you spell it.) So my mom and I have been laughing about her collegne implants for two days.

Yuck! I just checked the mail and there is a wedding invitation in it. The wedding is in Philadelphia in July. It is one of Sean's college friends. She just had a huge wedding in October 2001 in Washington DC. As crass as it is to say, that was pretty short lived. And, this was a pretty short turn around.
Sean wants to go. He says we can make several days out of if I go to DC with him for meetings on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Then we an drive up to Philly after that. NOrmally it would sound great but the fact is, I am wedding'd out!

Lacey,
Sorry the trip to the hospital didn't figure things out. You would think the doctor would have looked more at the info on your mom's heart before insisting on this emergancy surgery and then after 10 minutes saying "she doesn't need me!" I will continue to keep your mom in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully they will figure out what is wrong soon and get it fixed!

Hey Lacey,
Glad to hear your mom is doing well.... Dr's are stupid sometimes in my mind. I can't belive how terrible he was at answering your questions.
My mom is having surgery on the 15th to have her gall bladder removed. She started having problems this past christmas where she was having sesver stomic pains, nautiousness, chills. It was terrible. Nothing like what your mom has been having. Hopefully someone can tell her what's going on so she can get it taken care of!

Doctors can be so up themselves cant they - and treat the rest of us like simpletons, (im sure they teach them it at med school) like u i always stand up and demand explanations/2nd opinions. Maybe its just cos i dont like being talked down to lol Sorry uve had to go thru all this worry and are no nearer to sorting anything out tho, hope your mum isnt too bad at mo and that she will get to see her 'regular' doctor soon!
Can imagine how u feel about the wedding lol i went to one a few weeks back and kept taking notice of things that i wouldnt have before cos of planing mine lol bet she will have nowhere near ur planning skills tho even tho shes done it before lol
take care

Today, I am getting my patio and garden in order. I got the flower beds cleaned out last night. I need to go to Target and pick up some top soil, a new rake (mine broke) and a new broom (mine broker - it was a tough evening for garden equipment). After I get that done, I am going to the green house and getting my flowers to plant around the patio and in the front of the house. I probably won't get that started until tomorrow. Then I have to clean up my herb garden some and get my insane amounts of mint and sage under control. Hopefully Sean will be able to help me scrub the lawn furniture (with my super cool high power Scuncci Steam cleaner) and get the grill cleaned up. (Mental note to self pick up stainless steel cleaner for the grill.) Then I will have my little outdoor area to look at from the kitchen because once it starts to get hot and humid here, it isn't worth the heat stroke to sit outside.
I need to go to the grocery store to. I looked in the kitchen lat night and it is as empty as I have ever seen it. It is a little embarassing in fact.

Well at least all you would have to do is show up for the wedding and you don't have to think about it until the day of it.

I hate doctors. I'm sorry that he couldn't give you an answer on your mom. If it was an emergency a few weeks ago, what is the problem now?
It happens everytime my grandma goes to the hospital from the nursing home - no one ever knows what is wrong with her. The last time Joe's dad was at the hospital - he couldn't get an answer from anyone as to whether or not his dad had pnemonia (I know that's misspelled) - kind of a simple answer, as far as I'm concerned.
I'll continue to keep your mom in my thoughts - hopefully they will give her an answer soon.

If it was an emergency a few weeks ago, what is the problem now?
That is exactly my point. What if my mother had agreed to the surgery on the Monday before my Saturday wedding? What then. They were telling her that she need a bypass and possibly a double bypass. This doctor was so sure that he didn't even want to initially do a heart cath. He just wanted to jump in and do the surgery. So they would have gotten her in the hospital, had me stressed to beyond normal levels with everything, and put my mother through the dangers of surgery, only to open her up and realize that there were no blockages?
I don't advocate the abuse of the US legal system. I think people really sue doctors too much for things that aren't their fault. I mean they are humans not the godlike creatures they like to pretend to be. But, ****, can you say malpractice?

I am so sorry that you had to go throug all that stress and worrying..and even more so for your mother....for no answers. I mean it si bad enough that they scared you all, but then to change the "diagnosis" and not provide another one...or even a proper exam to try and find another one is just beyond me. Good luck with finding an answer..and I will keep ypur mom on my thoughts!!! Plus, atelast she gpot some implants out of the deal!!!..LOL!!!

Today was zoo day! Sean takes me to the zoo once every summer. He claims that he doesn't really like the zoo but always ends up talking about how fun it was for days. Today's weather was kind of cool and mild so we got to go!! I got pictures too but I'll post those later. And, I got to see my favorites, the penguins (they were building nets and I think one laid an egg, and the seals.

I like the zoo too!!!! My favorite zoo is the San Antonio Zoo. It is way better than the Houston Zoo. I think the animals in the Houston Zoo are not put in very good habitats. It's so unnatural for them. Well I guess really it's unnatural at every zoo, but San Antonio is better than Houston, is my point.

Yesterday like I said was zoo day and I took lots of pictures like I do every year. I have more pictures of some of these animals than I do of some family members. I have been going to the zoo in Pittsburgh every summer since I was in a stroller. I take the zoo very seriously. I love our zoo here because they have done so much work on it. The animals are really kepts in good natural habitats.
We started with the Asian forest but the tigers and snow leopards were being butt heads and not posing well for pictures. They are both in really nice natural habitats for them. What I like most about it is that then animals can have some privacy (and they used it yesterday!)
Then it was on to the big cats of Africa. The lions were just sleeping. If I wanted to see sleeping cats I could visit my sil and watch Jake and Ginger nap for free. But for one the leopard was very active and let us get a picture of him. You can see him in the right corner sticking his head around.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/leopard.jpg
It was onto the African Savannah which is really nice. If I were an elephant or something I wouldn't mind living there at all. (Nice conditions, good food, and no lions chasing me!)
Here we have some zebras (one of my favorites to watch)
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/zebras.jpg
Then some elephants. Usually the elpahnts are more social but they must have wanted some down time.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/elephants.jpg
The giraffe who much like the tiger and snow leapoard was being a butt head and not turning around.

Then we went ontot he monkey house. You should note that I HATE monkeys. They are disgusting. They play with their own feces. That is just nasty. I hate monkeys. Sean however LOVES monkeys. They are his favorite thing. So every year I get stuck going intot he monkey house. And it smells in there too!
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/monkey2.jpg

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/monkey.jpg
This is an oragutan ( I know I spelled that totally wrong). They aren't technically monkeys they are primates. So they aren't totally gross.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/orangutan.jpg
We also have a really nice gorilla habitat with a toddler and infant gorilla. But I didn't get any pictures of those. I like the gorillas.

Next it was onto the bears. THe bears have it pretty crappy. Their place is probably the least nice in the zoo but it is up for renovation starting next summer. I guess if you are bear though, a bunch of rocks and pine tress probably is what you would want anyway, right?
This is Rocky the Kodiak bear. Rocky has been a fixture at the zoo my entire life. His "friend" Sarah lives next door but she wasn't out yesterday.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/Kodiakbear.jpg
And this is one of our zoo's new editions. Last year we had a baby black bear born.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/babyblackbear.jpg
After the bears you have the new multi million dollar PPG Aquarium that was built a couple years ago. It is so nice. It is my most favorite part because they have the penguins. The penguins are my absolute favorite thing at the zoo. They are so much fun to watch. I have always been fascinated by those little guys. I got to watch them built a nest and to see a mommy penguin lay her egg in it. It was SO cool. Originally I wanted to have our reception at the aquarium there (they rent it out) but Sean said no. He has promised my 30th birthday party there though.

The children's zoo was renovated recently too. It is fun. Except for the goats, I am afraind of goats so we skip that part.
You can walk through the kangroo habitat and interact with them if they are ok with it. On a side note I have never seen a kangaroo interact with anyone. I have only witnessed them lie in the shade and scratch themselves. This is with 27 years of viewing experience.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/kangaroo.jpg
Peacocks just roam around
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/LDHorvat/peacock.jpg
I am super excited too because they just tore down the old reptile house and moved everything there into a new reptile house in the childrens zoo. A couple snakes weren't relocated yet. But those that were had a much nicer place to call home. At the end of summer we are finally getting polar bears back in a new arctic habitat that will also house the otters and new walruses that are coming in the fall so I will have 3 new animals to see next summer.

How Cool! I haven't been to the Toronto Zoo in years. Maybe this summer Mark and I will be able to get down there.
I'm not a fan of the monkey's either. Any sort. When i was a kid on a school trip to the Calgary Zoo we were in the primate area looking at the Gorrilla's and the male stormed the window and slammed into it right infront of where i was standing. It scared me half to death. Since then i keep far back when we go in there. If we have to go.

The Calgary zoo is awesome! I love going to the zoo...but I think I've only been once or twice in my life time! lol. My favorite, like Sean, is the monkeys. They're such perverted little monkeys but I find them so facinating to watch! lol.

So as you may or may not know, Sean's sister is expecting her first child with her husband of just over a year. We are all really happy from them. Because of Kelly's age (35, 36 in August) she had to under go the whole spectrum of genetic testing. The results came in just before our wedding that everything genetically was fine with the baby. (Plus while we were getting ready at the wedding she felt the baby move for the first time!) So last week so and her husband went in for their second ultra sound. They saw everything, the little brain, kidneys, heart, ect. THe technician said again that it is all perfect. Kelly requested to not know the gender of the baby. The technician did a fine job of not giving it away. But at the end the technician used the pronoun "he". So we think that the baby is a boy. (Kelly wanted to know anyway but her husband didn't.) The technician tried to cover it up but Kelly said she has had a feeling for months that the baby was going to be a boy. If it is, Uncle Sean and Aunt Lacey will be welcoming little Jack around Halloween.

Well I'm all alone until Sunday. I just dropped Sean off at the airport. He has a conference in Seattle that he is going to. If mom wasn't so sick I probably would have tagged along. I have never got to see the Pacific Northwest. Amber and Karen make sure to say hello to him during his layover in Phoenix this afternoon.
Also, I have decided that I am going to pick up my bridesmaid that stood me up's dress today or tomorrow. I paid for it and the lady at the shop said she could try to sell it to get my money back. But, she is never going to sell it. I was thinking that if I picked it up, Sean's aunt who is a seamstress could cut it down for me and I would have another little black cocktail dress tucked in my closet. I'm going to call his aunt this afternoon to see if she thinks she will be able to cut it down small enough to fit me.

It's too bad you couldn't go with Shawn. I think you would love Seattle. It's beautiful there. so green!
That is a good idea for the BM dress. You had to pay for it, may as well use it. If she can't take it down, you could sell it. I think it would be pretty easy.
By the way -- how is you mom doing?

She is ok. We really won't know anything until the end of the month when we meet with her cardiologist for her follow up. Obvioulsy until then she still has the same symptoms.
Tomorrow afternoon I have to take her to her first preliminary divorce hearing. The :censored: is now suing her to her pay his credit card bills (that he took out AFTER she paid for his bankrupcy filing) plus his house that he has mortgaged to the hilt, his attorney fees (eventhough he is the one who filed), plus he wants alimony and spousal support and her car. This from the woman who hasn't been able to work for years and can't get off the couch. He is just trying to be a :censored:. What he doesn't know is that I am paying for this thing so I am the one who decided how ugly it gets.

Wow Lacey! Your mom is really being put through the ringer. This isn't good for her heart! I'm sorry this is all happening to your mom, I hope she is feeling better very soon!! Good luck on everything! :)
Why do you think he waited until right in the middle of all her heart stuff and my wedding to do it. He is a sick SOB who is so unhappy with himself that he can't find happiness in anything but someone else's misery.

My camera got here this morning. I have been playing with it off and on this afternoon. If I get the software for it loaded into the computer tonight, I'll go and take some pictures to post. I am really excited about it, it has all these great settings like to take pictures of things under glass and in candlelight, it is water proof, and is has 8 megapixels as opposed to my old camera's 1.3.

I just had to share this sentence with you because it made Sean laugh so hard. He called from Seattle to let me know that he landed safely. The only time I am every nervous is when he is flying someplace. Anyway he asked what was on the agenda for me tomorrow. I said this, "I have to drive down to West Virignia, pick up Mommy, and take her to divorce court." He started to laugh so hard he almost peed his pants. Apparently on further review that is just a sentence one doesn't hear in normal conversation often, according to Sean.
Also, next Saturday evening we are having my dad and his girlfriend and Sean's parents down for a belated father's day dinner. Hopefully it goes better than the debacle that was Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the August/September zoo suggestion - I'll write that on my calendar and keep my ears open for the new polar bear announcement.
Sean's right - that sentance isn't something you hear in "normal" (whatever "normal" is) conversation.

Things in my mom's divorce turned out better today than I expected. Her :censored: hole soon to be ex has to give her temporary alimony, he has to keep her on his health insurance since she is too sick to work, and he has to pay her car insurance. Plus, he has to allow her to live int ehouse without harassing or abusing her.
She is staying with me because she didn't want to stay alone in the house tonight with him. I can't blame. I don't mind that she stays here when Sean is out of town. I just wish the house was bigger so that I could have some alone time. I miss alone time.
I think she got an infection from her heart cath last week. Her family doctor has her on an antibiotic for it. But she is still running a low fever and have these weird hive things. I don't know how much of it is the infection and how much of it is from the stress.

Today I had the carpets scrubbed. I had two guys show up to do this. They did a really good job. They even took my Persian rugs out to have the professionally done. They moved the furniture to roll them and didn't even charge me for it. I am really thrilled. But, like I said it was two guys. Sean is out of town. It is only my mom and I here. So while they were cleaning upstairs mom and I were downstairs. After they left I walked upstairs and my toilet seat was up. I know I didn't put it up. I'm pretty sure my mom didn't And I know for a fact Ruffles and Ellie lack the opposable thumbs to do it. So I think one of the carpet scrubbers used my bathroom and didn't put hte seat back. I don't mind that they used my bathroom. I mean when you got to go you got to go. they did only pee. But, they could have asked. And, they could have lowered the seat back down. It is one thing to leave it up at your own house if that is your thing. But at a strangers, yuck!

See that is a no no at my house. I have 2 bathrooms in my house. Justin and I have a bathroom that is attached to the master bedroom and our roommate has the other bathroom. The other bathroom is a communial bathroom. All of the seats are always put down in both bathrooms. I think I only had that problem one time. One night I got up to go to the bathroom and "fell in". Justin never did that again.

Definatly a stranger using the bathroom in your home without asking is weird. When we had the inspection done for the sale of our Condo a guy had used the toilet as well. It made me feel rather icky cause someone i didn't know had been in my private space.
Mark never leaves the seat up. He was pre-trained before i got to him. lol. After his dad left it was just him, his, mom and 2 sisters so they made him put the seat and lid down. The lid mostly went down becasuse the cat would try to drink from it and fell in. I like the lid closed cause i feel like the germs are staring at me when i'm in the bathroom to brush my teeth. :bbeek:

That would be a creepy feeling only because he didn't even ask. And the fact that he didn't leave the toilet like he found it.
I love when my carpets are clean, Lacey!!! It just gives you such a good feeling about your home, especially when you have animals. I don't have a doggy door and I have two dogs (1 pitbull and 1 dachshound) and a cat. My dogs poop and pee in the house and it drives me mad. I have a carpet cleaner for those times though, but the carpet will never be like new again.

Kacie, that cracked me up when I read about you falling in. I fell in before too. Isn't that the coldest, sickest feeling? My son used to live with me and he never put the seat down, no matter how much I complained about it. That boy was hard headed though. I have never had a problem with my dog drinking from the tiolet. I don't think she even knows there is water in there or just does not care. I have two cats and they are not indoor cats. They come in to visit when Justin is not home. (He hates cats and would kill me if he knew they came in.) My male cat, Blaze, loves water! When you flush the tiolet he runs and gets up on the seat and watches the water swirl! If you take a bath he comes in there and sits on the side of the tub and paws at the water coming out of the faucet. I keep waiting for the time that he will jump in!

I have never had a problem with Ruffles and Ellie drinking out of the toilet. First, they are too short. Secondly, Ruffles doesn't set foot in the bathroom on her own accord. You have to drag her in kicking and screaming for her bath. Ellie just knows taht her water bowl is always filled and clean downstairs.

Ruffles and Ellie are loving the fact that they have got to stay in bed with her all day though. I have been trying to clean the house but there is only so much you can do without making too much noise to wake her up. It's too hot to go outside and get anything done. I'm just looking forward to finishing up some laundry and getting dinner made, if I can even get mom out of bed. I hate that she is so sick!
Sean called, he says that Seattle is one of the nicest places he has ever been. Why did I pass this trip up? He claims he is sending salmon home to me. I can't wait to see the UPS guy dleiver that box! Oh, and he went to the original Starbucks and got some stuff. What a freak. Although I do love Starbucks, I don't think they would ever rate as a tourist stop.
He and I have been talking. If things work out for us financially, we are going to Ireland for 10 days for our first anniversary. Knock on wood that pans out. I would really like to drag Sean around his homeland for 10 days.

Sean FINALLY made it home from Seattle. THis is after I sat at the airport reading every tabloid in creation because his flight kept getting pushed back. He loved his trip though. I got a nice looking 5 pound filet sockeye salmon that is just begging to be grilled. I can't wait to eat that. I'm thinking of grilling it with fennel, onions, and oranges. Sean just left again. He is off for a day with the Divine Sisters of the Poor in Brooklyn. It is my understanding that the Sisters aren't so poor though. At least he will be home around 7 tonight. Oh, we are planning a nice long weekend away. He has meetings in Hagerstown and Washington DC at the end of July and then we have a wedding in Philadelphia that weekend. So we will be leaving Pittsburgh on Tuesday afternoon and driving to Hagerstown, Maryland. We are meeting a client of his for dinner that night. He has a meeting early on Wednesday morning. Then we are driving to DC, where we are going to the zoo! I GET TO SEE THE NEW PANDAS!!!! When I lived in DC I went to the zoo and Smithsonian all the time. Then that evening we have dinner with more clients. On Thrusday morning, he has more meetings while I am going to either the Holocuast Museum (never been there) or one of the Smithsonian museums. That will depend on the mood I am in that day. After his meeting, we are heading up to Philadelphia to get dinner at Morimoto's. For those of you who remember Iron Chef on Foodnetwork, Morimoto was on the original Japanese version and the new maerican version. Then on Friday we have all day to do nothing. Then the rehersal dinner is that night and we have been invited. (I must remember to RSVP for that). Saturday is the wedding. Sunday is then the big drive back across the state.

My garage door is fixed. The guy came out and did something to it and now it works again. Yeah Garage Door Guy! I also got my candle order in. One of our guests gave us a gift certificate to Partylite Candles. I think their stuff is to expensive but since it was free I picked up two lead crystal votive holders that are much nicer than I expected. Then I got French Vanilla tea lights for them. I also got a big jar candle that is scented like powdered sugar. It smells so freaking good. I don't care how much it was, my upstairs smells like a huge bag of powdered sugar. YUMMY! It sucks to be so scensitive to scents. I have to be careful with any cleaning products i buy. And i can't wear alot of perfumes. I have a hard time with scented deoderants. If Mark puts some on fresh before coming to bed i react.
I'm sorry Sean is still stuck in NY. The weather must be really terrible if it's been grounded for that long. Hopefully he will be home soon! Enjoy you're time together!

My mom is the same way with scents. I am getting that way myself. I don't like anything scented and I very rarely wear any type of perfume. So, going to a Partylite party is totally out of the question. I can handle some light smells though. Usually anything with a true vanilla scent doesn't bother me. Sean made the mistake of coming in to check on me one day when I had a migraine. I was in bed and he had just finished shaving. His aftershave sent me to the hospital. To this day if I get a whiff of it, I get slightly sick for a fleeting second. Lilacs and anything peach scented send me either running for the bathroom or straight to be with a migraine too.
Sean got home around 11 last night. He decide to sleep in today. He should be getting up any second to head into the office. Then around 5 he is leaving (on time for once) so that we can pick up our wedding pictures!!!!

Sean is constantly impressed by Ellie. That is his baby. I don't know what he would do if he had to pick between her or I. Ellie is Sean's first ever pet (eventhough she was MY Valentine's Day gift about 4 years ago.). So he still has that complete mystefied thing with her litke a little boy with his first dog. Tomorrow is our belated Father's Day barbeque. This is the first time I have invited Sean's mom over since the Thanksgiving dinner incident when we basically had to ask his parents to leave. So I am interested in seeing how this works out.
I went and got all of the groceries done yeaterday, which is good since it has poured rain here all day. (I have to laugh because Sean is golfing today.) Anyway you all know I'm not a meat eater but I still ended up spending $60 odd on pork and chicken for the grill. I felt like such a carnivore leaving the grocery store. Well, I guess I should update this thing.
On Friday Sean had a golf outting that I expected him to be at all day. But because of the rain and crappy weather they ended it early. So Sean came home with the 4 free greens fees that he won. Big whoop for me, I hate golf. But the second half of that door prize was $100. So we decided to go out for dinner. We headed to McCormick and Schmick which is a seafood joint. We had a 45 wait so we wandered arounda few store. It was a nice evening. We went into Sharper Image. I love playing with their massage chairs. They have a new one that I want but at $4000 I don't see it coming to live with me anytime soon unless Sean starts to win lots of door prizes at golf outtings.
Yesterday was fun. The weather turned out perfectly as Amy mentioned. My in laws got here 30 minutes early which kind of annoyed me. But whatever, I had everything ready. I just would have liked a few minutes of down time.
The first thing the in laws do is bring in their new camera and start asking Sean all these questions about it. Of course, Sean doesn't know the answer to things like "How many pictures will it take? How di I delete a picture? What are all these settings forr? ect..." naturally they don't bring the book because Sean is supposed to know everything. They have this learned helplessness (or laiziness) that I just cannot stand. So this goes on for 20 minutes of Sean saying. "Mom, I don't know. I don't have a camera like this. I'm not sure." Then he asks them if they read the booklet. Of course not. THey just figured that we would teach them to use it. So Sean tells them that we just got a new camera and I have it all figured out. So they turn their **** questions to me. I stop them in their tracks and tell them, I don't know how to work your camera. I am not spending my day figurings it out. I suggest they do what I did the other day when I got my new camera. I picked up the book, read it, and figured things out without bothering other people who wouldn't know anything about it anyway.
Anyway, we got to talking. Sean and I are seriously considering buying a house next summer when we get back from our vacation. So, the other day I was poking around online and found some new developments being built west of the city near where I work and my friend Erin lives. It is also much closer to my mother and much easier for her to get to as well. Plus the house is exactly what I want and well within my price range. So we were mentioning this to them. Sean's mother got all pissy and explained to us that we were not moving west of the city and there was no way that we were buiying in that development. There was no way I was going to move somewhere where her son would have to sit in traffic and take 20 minutes to get and from work everyday. Then she went on to explain that we were not going to sell our house that we have now. We will rent it out. She had this all planned out. Ummm....hello! Crazy lady with the control issue, I am almost 30 and your son is almost 40. I think we are old enough to pick out where we want to live. Also, if we don't sell our house (which is about halfway paid off and we could get a boatload of money for because of it's location) where in the hell am I going to get the down payment for my new house? AS for her son not sitting in traffic for 20 minutes a day? There is no where in the Pittsburgh area that you aren't going to sit in traffic. We have horrible traffic. And by the way, as of right now, my commute is 45 **** minutes, but that is all right? She always has to have her little control trip and that just :censored: me off. Thankfully though Sean did step in and state that it was a year away and that we would make the decision for ourselves.
Then my dad showed up and Sean's mom simmered down for the evening. Everyone had a really nice time. Execpt, Sean's parents will only talk about two things, 9-11 and politics. Frankly the one doesn't belong at any fun gathering and the other is just socially inappropraite because it can make people uncomfortable. Plus, no one really cares. But in all, the day was good and everyone had a good time. My in laws just have a way of annoying the hell out of me sometimes. I think Sean had caught on though and tries to intervene.
I woke up with a cold today. We decided to do our weekly brunch thing anyway. We got to our regular spot, Priscillas. Only, we discover that in the month we have been absent they totally changed their menu to all Thai food and they don't do brunch anymore. Not to mention that their a/c wasn't on. So we left there disappointed. We went to Claddaugh which is usually super good. But since i didn't feel too well, it was just blah. I picked at my fish and chips. Sean decided I should go home and take a nap. Which I did for about 3 hours. Then we went through and picked all of our weddin gpictures that we want in the album, enlarged, ect. That was fun. He reheated my fish and chips and I picked at them some more. Actually Ruffles and Ellie picked at them, I just nibbled because Sean was so proud of making me my dinner.
Well, I am starting to feel pretty yukcy again. I am going to take a hot bath (because Sean keeps this house at meat locker temperatures in the summer) and head to bed. I have to take my poor Ruffles to the vet in the morning. That is always stressful on both of us. She needs her eye's tear production retested. Tomorrow, we won't be on speaking terms all day. Which just makes it worse for me. I hate when the dog is mad at me. I feel so horrible.

We are back from the vet. Ruffles has an issue where her eyes don't produce enough tears. Apparently her old medication wasn't working effectively and when we got back from our honeymoon, an infection had set in. Today was a follow up visit to make sure all the infection had cleared out and to measure if the new medication she is on is helping with her tear production. Well, the ifection is all gone, but I knew that already. And, as for tear production, we went from a 3 to a 5 in one eye and in the other from a 2 to a 10 so one had a slight change and one is up 5 x's higher than it was before. The new medicine is working great. So we are going to wean her down to once a day and recheck again in August.
I took her to McDonalds to make up to her. She and I split a McGriddle. She got the bacon and one of th elittle pancake things and I ate the eggs and the other pancake thing.

I can't take it anymore. I just cannot take it another second. I can't take my mom being so sick. Ever since her heart cath, she has been running a fever and been broken out in these huge hives. It is to the point that some of them are so huge that they look like an egg under her skin.
At first, when she started we thought it might be a latex allergy because she spends so much time at the doctors office and in the hospital. So they removed all the latex from her. I even ran and picked her up latex free socks and panties to see if that helped. It wasn't that. So we came to the conclusion that it might be the collagen used to seal her incision from her heart cath. Her doctor ruled that out because if it was the collagen, whci comes from beef, she would have a similiar reaction everytime she ate beef.
So with the hives and mild fever (which didn't improve with a course of antibiotics - we thought there might be a slight infection from the heart cath.) her doctor sent her to an allergy specialist. She went today. I would have gone with her but I had to take Ruffles to the vet. Well, the doctor ran all types of allergy tests, none of which she tested positive for. However, now that she has been at home for a few hours everyplace they pricked her has a giant hive over it.
Her allergist ruled out allergies although she needs to call him in the morning to tell him about the new giant hives. Since she has ahd hives that have lasted over 24 hours, with a fever, night sweats, and insomnia, he has decided she has something far more serious. He is testing her for a ton of auto immune diseases including lupus, liver failure, and several types of cancers.
He is also sending her to an ear, nose, and throat doctor because her sinus cavities are full of blood and she is losing her hearing. Of course, my mother has had chronic sinus problems her entire life. I don't remeber a month going buy that she wasn't on an antibiotic for it. But this new news with her heart problems, her migraines (she sees a neurologist about those), and her thyroid issues are just more than I can stand. I can't stand hearing her say how sick she is (not that I don't want her to talk to me I just want her to get a break from feeling so bad!) I can't stand shutteling her to doctor's offices. I can't stand the bruises because her veins are so small they hae to poke he rlike a pin cushion. I just can't stand it all anymore. I just want to know what the hell is the matter with her so we can fix it or at least stop it from getting worse!

Lacey, what can I say, except....****!!!!! I hate that your moms going through all this, I have that youre having to go through all of this with her and just know that all of you are in my prayers.
Could the hives be a reaction form any of her meds? Could something she taking be reacting to something else? People have been known to tkae a certain med for years than out of the blue they are allergic to it. What about the anesthesa (SP?) It could have reacted to something and be causing all kinds of problems..........
Sorry......just wanted to help.........
Best of luck with everything!

Thanks Shawna. When you are talking about your infertility and how frustrated you are buy it; the tests, the wondering, the not knowing, the hope, back to square one. I kind of know how you feel. Only we aren't trying for a baby, we are trying for just a few good energetic not sick and miserable days. It makes me feel better that someone just takes a moment and reads what I wrote then responds to it. That way I don't feel like I am screaming and no one can hear me. Thanks.

NO problem Lacey! I can understand when you feel like your posting and no one cares. And I can understand how you just want your mom to feel better and not have to go through ANOTHER test. I've been wishing lately for a magic wand with just one wish in it and I'd now use that wish to help your mom feel better. I can't even imagine how frustrating it is. Well, ok, I can kinda, but yeah! lol And I just want you to know that I am here to read it all and give you what I've got...even if it's not much!! Her doctor said today that an allergic reaction with hives won't last for more than 24 hours. Since this has been going on for 3 weeks, we are well outside the 24 hour mark. Usually if the allergen is still present the reactions will get worse or react slightly to an antihistamine like benadryl. Which, hers hasn't.
The only thing that I can think of is that she might be allergic to some type of metal. Hence, why she gets horrible hives after they give her a shot or like where they pricked her skin for the allergy tests today. When she read me the list of what they tested her for no metals or natural elements were on there. (On an up note she is not allergic to: goats, horses, cockroaches, parakeets, or rats - apparently they must have thought that she lived in a zoo)
I have spent the last little bit of time reading up on lupus. I remember in hgh school when her thyroid was going nuts they thought she might have had it. But the test came back inconclusive. Her doctor at the time recommended that she be retseted again in several years. But, her symptoms eventually cleared up when they got her thyoid under control. But, as I was reading about the symptoms of lupus it does sound like her all the way down to the joint pain, fevers without causes, and mistakenly identified as having ms. It can also relapse and remitt with years or even decades between outbreaks taht just start and stop with no known catalyst.
I should have saved myself the time and just went to medical school it would have been easier to go when I was 22 than having to be self taught at 27.

I'm so sorry to hear that things are not going easily with your mom's health. I kinda know what you are going through with the not know. My dad has been feeling really sick lately. He not eating, always tired, having headaches, and his skind and eye have a yellowish tint to them. He has gone through numbers of test and the doctors can not figure out what is wrong with him!! They thought he may have gotten hepititus, but from the two tests they to to show it's that, one was positive and one negative. So now they don't think it's that either. They actually told him they have no clue and really don't know what else to try! I'm begining to hate doctors! My dad's case isn't as bad as your moms, but I know how it feels to want to smack them upside the head with medical text books and tell them to get studying!
I will definatly be keeping your mom and you in my thoughts and prayer on this!

Ask your dad if he ever had mono. If he hasn't tell him to tell his doctor to test for it. My best friend in high school had the exact same thing and ti turns out she had a bad case of mono that attacked her liver. Obviously if your dad is yellow, he is juandiced and that is directlly caused by his liver not functioning properly. There are about 50 different types of hepatitis out there. I woudl see about getting him to a liver specialist in PIttsburgh or Philly.

I know they checked his liver levels and one came back high, like he was a big alcoholic. We all found that funny because my dad has never had a drink in his life! The doctor told him they would keep an eye on it but they didn't think that was the problem. I don't know how much I trust doctors anymore...lol.

First of all, I have been married for one whole month! That is pretty exciting. It is also sad that Sean had to remind me. He is so much better at remembering dates and such. Woo Hoo!
Mom called and her doctor's appointment got pushed back so she doesn't want me to drive down. She doesn't like me driving at night because she is the most paranoid person in the world and bad things happen to girls in cars driving a lone at night, you know. Or course it is standard procedure for her heart doctor to push back his appointments. He does it every time she has one. SHe will be calling this evening and letting me know what was said.
On an up note, it is Farmer's Market day. I haven't made the the last couple becuse I have been too busy. However today it is supposed to pour rain all day. I'm not that desperate for fresh stuff. If it stops raining I'll venture out. If not, I can buy green beans at Giant Eagle this week.
On an even higher upnote....for those of you who don't know I am the world's biggest Harry Potter fan. Last night, the release date for the fifth movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was announced. It hits screens on July 13, 2007. That also happens to be Sean's 39th birthday. I'm so excited. It is just over a year away. It is speculated that the last book (a bitter sweet moment for me) will come out just before 07/07/07 because 7 is "magical number" or just after 07/31/07 Harry's birthday. I know it is nerdy but I'm already so excited that I can't stand it. I'm so tempted to just dig out my books and start to read them again. But I can't stop once I do so they must remain shelved.
Sean is out of town tonight so you girls will be seeing a lot of me in between doing laundry and picking up the house. I need to haul my butt into the shower yet too. It is so dreary though, I don't feel like doing anything.

Oh Lacey! You and your mom are in my thoughts and prayers. How frustrating that all must be, for all of you. I am so sorry that these problems are continuing and that no one can seem to find a solution for her.
I have to apologize, I did chuckle when you said that it was good news that she wasn't allergic to goats, etc. Why did they test for such idiotic things? *shaking my head*
I have to say, I often wonder if doctors have a secret class in how to frustrate patients and their families. Every single time my grandmother is in the hospital no one knows what's going on. First she has a blood infection, that they informed us of after we left her room. (which I later researched on my own and found that it was highly contagious by touch-I had kissed her on the forehead when I left and my sister, who was trying to get pregnant at the time, kissed her too), then she doesn't. Then she has a mystery infection, then she doesn't. It's maddening!
Hang in there and I'll say a prayer for you guys.

Don't worry Lacey, reading your Harry Potter update made me excited too!! I love the books as well. Last year "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" came out on our wedding day. I'm hoping for the very best for your mom's heart appointment. Why is it that doctors are so up themselves? They think that a person can work on THEIR schedule!! It's like this stupid gyno I'm supposed to see, he seems to think that my monthly cycle should work on his work cycle. He can do the procedures only Monday - Wednesday, Thursday he is in the OR and Friday he's on the golf course! (well he takes off Friday and I can only assume that's where that a-hole doc would be!!) Ummmm... I'm sorry but my body does not take it's orders from that doctor, hell it won't even listen to me! I can sort of understand you're frustration, however I think your mom's appointment is a lot more important then mine. Well my soon to be ex step father kept the phone off of the hook all day in the basement so my mother coulnd't call me. What a jack arse! So anyway he finally hung up and she was able to get through. According to her heart doctor, he has no idea why the doctor who did her stress test in May wanted her to come in for emergency surgery. Everything looks fine to him. In fact my mom's heart health rate went from a 55 to a 60 which is actually in the good territory. For some reason though her cholesterol is still high even with the medication he has her on. But the best news is now that the 55 is a 60 the meds he has her on are actually doing their job and making her heart stronger. He thinks all the pain she is having might be stress related. As for the shortness of breath and chromic exhaustion, he wants her to see a ling doctor. He thinks she might not have a major heart issue now but perhaps a lung issue and possibly adult onset asthma. Also, he wants to see that the test that the allergist took the other day (autoimmune disease, cancers, ect) have to say. Several of those can have symptoms that effect the heart and cause chronic exhaustion.
Well right now I am chronically exhuasted and have to be up early tomorrow. I actually have my own doctor's appointment to go to. Nothing serious, just a refill on my migraine meds. I go in a couple times a year for it. He also likes to check my blood pressure because the migraine meds and the birth control I am on both have side effects of higher blood pressure. But, it always comes back normal.

Ok so around 4 this morning I woke up. I rarely wake up in the middle of the night. So I wake up and the only thing I can think of is that it has to be my mom's liver. Now, there is no doubting that there is something wrong with her heart. But that doesn't cover everything like the chronic fevers, suddently high cholesterol, the hives ect. The allergist she went to the other day ran some liver tests because chronic hives can mean your immune system is off balance and that can be caused by a liver problem. My mother has never had high cholesterol. Then suddenly last year her's sky rocketed. The liver directly can correlate with cholesterol too since it helps to make it. Even on really strong cholesterol drugs and a strict diet her cholesterol keeps going up. We have a lot of liver issues in her family but I always just reasoned that was because they are a bunch of hill billy drunks who drink away their problems as opposed to facing them. But, my mom doesn't drink, she never has. Anyway I kept thinking liver, liver, liver. I want to see the results of the blood work for liver enzymes and function. I also would like an ultra sound done too.
Anyway I was at my doctor today. I buy the way am just fine. Great blood pressure, no complaints, migraine have gone in frequency when we looked, all that good stuff. (I forgot to ask for blood sugar and cholesterold though for my own morbid curiosity). Anyway I was telling him a couple things about what mom's doctors' have said. He looked at me and said, "Has she has her liver checked?" This man has been a family practioner since the 1950's I figure if anyone has seen everything and has the experience it is him. So now I really want her liver checked. I think we might be onto something.

Glad to hear your appointment went fine.
I really think it is a good idea to have her liver checked thoroughly. From all you have said, it really sounds like it could be what is making her sick. I wish you both all the best and pray they can find the problem.

Good to hear the reports on both of you Lacey. Get her liver checked for sure! Keep me posted. I too have horrible migraine headaches, Eric knows that the bedroom will be the darkest room in the house...I retreat to a "cave" when I have them...no noise, no light, no smells, no movement. They completley cripple me for 12+ hours and then I feel weak for 24-36. Anyway, didn't meant to rant about me, I just feel your pain (no pun intended). I was tickled to death to spend most of the day conversing with you yesterday.
Again, take care of your mommy, take care of yourself and I'll be thinking of you both!

Well, Lacey, I can speak on liver problems. About 15 years ago, I was doing my duty like a good American citizen and giving blood. Well, a couple of weeks later, I get a letter in the mail that said I should go to the doctor immediately because my liver levels were very high, and that I tested positive for Hepatitis C. I had no symptoms whatsoever. (By the way, when there are symptoms, these are the early ones: mild fever, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.)
I was devastated, and thought I was doomed. So I went to the doctor and they confirmed that I did have it and that there was treatment for it. Ok, when can I start them? I'm dying here. Geez!!
So I had to take Interferon injections (the same thing that Naomi Judd had to do) 3 times a week for one year. I don't know if any of you have ever had to give yourself an injection before, but I'm telling you right now, it's horrible. Your brain is telling you not to stick that needle into your leg, but you know you have to do it, and you have to literally force yourself to plunge that needle into your leg.
Interferon contains the same stuff that is in chemotherapy treatments, so I was sick all the time and my hair fell out. But I am in complete remission and have been for years. I am praying that it never comes back.
Sorry, Lacey, that I went on and on in your journal, but I just wanted to make the point that whatever illness that your Mother may have, you guys can deal with it. You have to, if you want to live!!

Yesterday I was gone all day. I hate days like that because they ar so tiring. Plus the next day you are too tired to do anything so that is two days wasted.
I took my wedding pictures to my mom to look at that. Then we went to lunch. Since we had my pictures we with us, we then started to make the rounds. First we went to the dress shop where my bm's and mom got their dresses. We spent a lot of time there. I also wanted to pick up my extra bm dress. This is the one from the bm who quit on me. I had to pay off her dress. I did it because I felt that it wasn't the dress shop's fault. I felt obligated to because we all know I'm just that **** nice. And also to prevent her from suing my bm for the $150 dollars. I probably should have just let the store owner sue Melinda. Anyway, we showed Cathy the pictures and she just gushed. She had to show them to all the brides who came into the shop and to all the seamstresses in the back. I think the next itme i need something formal, I'll go to her. It's a drive for me but she is just so pleasant.
Then we went to the florist. I still needed to pay off the balance of the what I owed her. She did such a fantastic job decorating the church and making our bouquets. Everything was just beautiful. She requested a couple pictues that she would like for her portfolio where you can see the bouquests and decor very well. Since I have all the pictures on disk, I told her no problem.
From there we went to show the pictures to my mom's friend, Sophie. Her daughter, Erin was one of my bridesmaids. (How weird is that my mom had 3 really close friends all through school Sophie, Debbie, and Sheri. In my wedding was one of Sophie's daughters, Debbie's daughter and Debbie's two little granddaughters!) Again, more picture gushing. Then we had to look at the wedding album's for Sophie's 3 girls: Missy, Erin, and April. It was fun.
Now comes the good part. You all know that none of my mom's family came to my wedding. They didn't even respond to the RSVP or the follow up call that I eventually had to make to any of them. But, my mom had a couple of things at my Uncle Greg's house. So, she asked it if would be ok if we stopped and got them. She can't lift and carry heavy things because of her heart. So she needed me to help get them into the car and then to unload them when we got home.
So we stopped and Greg was there. Mom told him that she came to get her stuff. He invited us in to have a seat for a minute (that is right, invite the rattlesnake into your house!) He looked at me and said, "How was the wedding?" I don't know what happened at that point because I lost what was left of my mind and sanity. (Granted I didn't lose much but I still lost something.) I looked at him and told him that he had NO business asking me or my mother that. If he was so **** concerned his *** would have been there. Then he looked at me and gave me some lame *** excuse of "Well, I had to work." First of all, he works for a printing company that does printings for churches and religious organizations. He is the only person in the world that works a better schedule than I do. I know **** well that he wasn't working all day on a Saturday on Memorial Day weekend. And, if he was, he could have gone to the owner and said, "My niece is getting married, could I at least slip out early so I can make it to her reception at 6?" Trust me the guy wouldn't have said no to him. My uncle has worked there for 13 years without missing a day except when he had emergency open heart surgery two years ago. Then I looked around the room, on the coffee table were 3 cell phones and on the end table was the regular house phone. In the corner was the computer. I asked him how it was possible that 3 cell phones and land line could not call out and his computer could not email yet he didn't seem alarmed. He looks down at his feet then looks up at me and says, "I guess I should have returned your call to tell you we couldn't make it. I was wrong. I am sorry." Gee, you think that maybe you should have had the civilty of a caveman anc called to RSVP to my wedding genius?
At this point my mom tells me to be quiet (for some reason she does that sometimes but in 27 years I don't think it has ever worked) I go on to tell Greg that my mother had to sit at her family table with no family. If it hadn't been for her friend Sophie and all of Sophie's family my mother would have sat alone. I tell him how she cried at the rehearsel trying to explain to people that no one in her fmaily was coming. I explained what it was like to make excises to everyone at my bridal shower about where 3/4 of my family happened to be at. I point out every little thing that my mom and dad did for him in all the years that they were married. And everything over the years that I did for him. He is just sitting there drinking his beer and smoking his cigarettes.
He then has the nerve to tell me that I should have apologized to my grandmother and done whatever needed done to bring peace. OK, you all know better than that I hope. But at this point Greg's partner, Scott, feels the need to chime. Now I like Scott, I have only met Scott one other time. But he seems nice. And he is golden retriever named Lila. Lila and I are tight. So, ***** slapping Scott in his place kind of hurt. But a girl has got to do what a girl has got to do. Scott looked at me and said, "You know your grandmother isn't stable (Scott wins the understatment of the year award for that one!) so why not just call and tell her whatever she wants to hear to just get the situation over with and everyone can go back to being happy. I swear is there anyone I know that doesn't live in the happy world of denial? Anyway I look at Scott and tell him to tell me everything he knows about the situation.
He tells me that my grandmother is so upset that I am her only granddaughter and I called screaming and swearing at her and then slmamed the phone down because she called and asked my mother a question. All she wanted to do was to let all of my cousins be at the wedding so we could be a family. She can't believe that I would hurt her like that, blah blah, blah, blah. Again, not sure what happened for a minute because the blackout rage set back in. So I had to set the record straight.
First of all, I didn't call screaming at my grandmother and swearing at her. My mother called me sobbing because my grandmother called her yelling about my cousin's (2nd cousin by the way) children (9 and 3) couldn't come to the wedding. So I called my grandmother and told her to first of all leave my mother out of anything dealing with me. My mother wasn't in a good enough physical or mental state to brush her teeth some days let alone deal with fmaily issues. Secondly, I didn't see where my cousin's kids had anything to do with my grandmother. If my cousin had an issue with it, she was an adult and smart enough to use the telephone. She could call me and WE could deal with it. Finally if my grandmother had an issues that she thought were importnat I told her to hold onto them. This was my wedding and I didn't care what she thought. It was going to go my way and no one else's opinons mattered. At that point she hung up on me.
Then I went on to explain to Scott that I wasn't my grandmother's only granddaughter, she has 3 more. But she was never allowed to see them because she never treated them equally to me. She blatantly favored me growing up. So, my uncle's wife stopped bringing her kids around. I don't blame her one bit for that. I would have done the same thing. Also, my grandmother wasn't upset that out of her 7 grandchildren only 2, Greg's sons, were invited. She was upset that her niece's two children (her great neices) who were both under the age of 10 weren't invited. She didn't care about her actual adult grandchildren. I also poitned out that my grand mother has 4 great grandchildren that she has never met. She wasn't upset about them not being there either. After hearing that, Scotty boy's opion of the incident changed oh so slightly.
(to be continued)

Then I looked at Greg and I let it all spill. The big secret. The fact that my grandmother looked at me and my mother and said, that we shouldn't let Greg's two boys come to the wedding even though they are both teenagers and the one is the same age as my cousin Tash who was a bridemsaids. But, that we should let my cousin, Shab bring her two little kids. Well let's just say that really pissed Greg and Scott off in epic proportions. Then I told Greg why his boys were invited. The oldest one, Shaun, is the same age as my bridesmaid Tash. They are both juniors in high school where they are like best freinds. I figured that htey could have behaved themselves at the reception and acted like adults. I invited the younger son, Shay, because even though he is a little hyper I didn't feel that the boys shared a bedroom but that only one of them got invited. Not to mention that Shaun, Shay, and I were raised like siblings together not as just cousins.
Finally I pointed the ever popular phrase around here, it was my wedding. It was MY wedding. I had to pay for it. I had to plan it. I could invited or not invite any **** person that I deemed fit to be on either list. If any of them had a problem with it, they could cram it you know where.
At the end of the night I fianlly made my opinion really known. As we were getting ready to leave, I looked at Scott and asked him how many memebrs of Greg's family besides Shaun and Shay that he had met. (My uncle lives an alternative lifestyle he and his wife seperated after 16 years of marriage and he decided it was time to come out of the closet.) Scott looked at me and admitted that the only two people that he actually met were my mother and I. My grandmother occasionally calls but he has never talked to her or met her. The only reason he knows mom and I are beacuse we the only two that still stop in to visit and call after Greg made his lifestyle choice known. I looked at Greg and told him to think about that. We are the only two poeple who still acknowledge that he and his kids are alive. Yet, he still sided with the people who ignore him over the only ones that would accept him. I told him that he should be ashamed of himself and walked out the door. I hope he really thinks about that last statement and does something about it.
He did ask right before we left if he could ever make it up. I told him no. He woul dnver build a time traveller that was capable of going back to that day. That would be the only thing that could fix it.

I didn't give it to them. I just made sure that they knew the facts. My dad loves my Greg but he made the joke, "I guess you set them as straight as those two are going to get." Normally I don't like to make fun of people for things that aren't in their control. I believe that issue isn't in their contro. But I had to laugh at that one.

So yesterday Sean and I did nothing. It was fabulous. We made breakfast, watched a couple of movies, played with the doggies, ect. Our friends Mark and Collene dropped in to give us our wedding gift. (We got a new microwave, woo hoo!) They brought their son, Kevin, who was transfixed by Ruffles and Ellie. Ruffles liked him but he is in that baby shrieking thing so Ellie wasn't overly fond. After they left, Sean went downstairs to the game room to discover that the hose had detached from the washing machine causing a huge mess. Luckily he volunteerred to take the rug scrubber and suck clean it up while I made dinner. Just the carpet got wet, thankfullly the wedding gifts and Christmas decorations were far enough away to stay dry. Since we have to go to Home Depot today to get blinds, we are going to pick up a dehumidifier too. We should have one anyway.
After our little adventure to Home Depot though I think we are coming home. Sean is going to reattach the hose and hang my blinds while I make dinner and pick up the house. Oh, what fun!
By the way I was playing on the computer yesterday and came up with these. I thought you might enjoy little Lacey:

My BIL and his wife still had stuff out at the farm at the time of our wedding and the sewer (septic tank) backed up. I told Matthew, it just goes to show that if you take care of your own stuff at your own house (they had moved like 6 months earlier) that would have NEVER happened! Can someone explain to me why my air conditioner chooses to go out at the most inconvient times. I had to have someone here the day before the wedding to inject freon. That is fine, but I told Sean to make sure the guy tested for leaks. Of course Sean was all nice and polite while the guy was here. So the guy didn't do his job. He will be getting called tomorrow morning and he really won't enjoy it. So last night we get home around 7 and the house is about 80. The poor dogs and just miserable. I had to run to Target and spent $50 on fans. Then I had to toss and turn all night. Normally our house is at 70. Sean and I and Ruffles and Ellie are just miserable. Luckily it is only going to be 78 and raining today. So that should help keep it liveable.

I forgot to mention, the other day I picked up my ex bridesmaid Melinda's dress. I had to pay for it to get the dresses released and besides the store owner was going to sue Melinda for the $116. I should have just let her. Anyway because of the size of the dress, the store owner doubted she would ever be able to sell it to give me back my money. I understood. So I decded that Sean's aunt is a really good seamstress. The dress is just a simple, black, A line, strapless, tea length, satin, dress. I thought that maybe Sean's cousin could take it in. Well I finally got around to tryig it on last night to see how much it would need taken in. Let's just say, I don't see it happeneing. I had Sean hold it to see, and we are looking at between 8-10 inches on each side. The tea length dress drags the floor. So, I need to hem it about 6-8 inches as well. That will be enough for a whole other dress. I am going to talk to Sean's cousin this week but I'm not hopeful. If she can't do it, I am going to check into one of those charities that takes old prom dresses and gives them to underprivledged girls. It is an pretty dress. I just really wanted to add it to the clothing collection.

That is an idea. I am going to talk to Sean's cousin. The dress isn't incredibly intricate. So there is hope. But if not, Ebay is such a hassel, I would rather just donate it to some poor girl who needed it for prom or homecoming. (I can't believe that they wear gowns to homecoming now.)
Also, Sean and I were going through some dry cleaning that needed taken in. So, he reached into his packet and finds the two bridesmaid gifts from my two :censored: cousins who didn't bother to show up at the rehearsal dinner and who left the wedding before the pictures were done. So my a/c is still broken. I just called to get it repaired. Of course I had to leave a message because no one can ever answer the phone. This is the third time since May I have had to have someone here. The first time, they couldn't do anything because it wasn't hot enough to inject the freon. Fine, I understand that. They still however could do jack **** yet charge me $80 for the 10 minutes of work that they did. So I made an appointment for the day before my wedding. They call that morning and tell me that they overbooked and were going to have to cancel. We all know that went over like a lead balloon with me. My mother was housesitting with my two dogs and it was going to be 90 degrees that week. So they finally agreed to work me into their schedule. (Quite frankly when they made the appointment they already worked me in). The lady was a complete ***** about it too. What she didn't understand (but quickly learned) is that anything she can do, I can do better.
So the guy shows up and tells Sean that there is probably a freon leak because these newer units don't just run out freon like the older ones do. He tells Sean this then just injects the freon telling Sean that he doesn't have time to look for a leak. Sean told him he had better hope that there isn't one. Well apparently he didn't hope hard enough. Because I am out of God **** freon and my doggies are hot. This isn't making me happy. The fact of the matter is that they better call me back in the next 10 minutes or I am finidng someone else to fix my a/c. This is ridiculous. By the way if they do call back they are getting more than an earful. I better not be charged to refill the freon because frankly if they guy had taken 20 extra minutes to do his job this wouldn't have happened.

Ugh - what a crappy time for the a/c to go! It was so miserably humid yesterday!
Let me just say, I am soooo thankful that I'm not your a/c repairperson!! Then again, if I was your a/c repairperson, it would have been fixed right the first time. I just love how people do their jobs!

They are going to send someone over this afternoon (schedule permitting) or at the latest first thing tomorrow morning. They had better get someone here today!
To add insult to injury I just walked downstairs and Ellie got in the garbage can. This lead to a butt whipping on her part. Then I realized that the half of a brownie I was eating last night wasn't in the inventory of what I put back in the garbage can. So now we are just sitting here in the heat waiting for Ellie's bowels to explode. (Don't panic, I already called the vet. He claims she didn't eat enough to do anything else than give her a tummy ache)

Aw Lacey, I'm sorry you and your furbabies are hot and she has a tummy ache (or a potential one)! My electric went off last night and I'm in a baseball cap and blue jeans at work today...you should see the looks I'm getting...hell at least I showered this morning (in the dark) and tried to put my makeup on by the window! Maybe your day will get better.

Well, I have been watching my little Ellie closely all afternoon. All I can say is this, if this is hyper I a buying stock in Hershey. The poor little thing is usually a ball of energy. But today she just crawled into bed is sleeping. I think the chocolate plus the heat is making her not feel well.
I'm calling the a/c lady at 3 to see what is up.

Woo Hoo! My a/c is up and running. This girl does NOT like to be the slightest bit over heated. They have to come back tomorrow to check for leaks but right now it is about 20 degrees cooler in here. (As soon as it kicked on, Ruffles got up, walked across the living room, and dropped right in front of the vent. She hasn't moved since.)

Nope, here in the US they still use good old fashioned freon. I got two pounds of it put in today. They are going to see where it is leaking out tomorrow. Of course, our natin has the president who allowed for higher levels of mercury in some what systems because it wasn't going to make the water "that" toxic. So in comparison, what's a little freon between friends?

Ok, let me just say that first of all, there is no sound in the world that I detest more than the ringing of a telephone. I hate the telephone. And talking on the telephone for any length of time is torture to me. I have always felt that way. In high school my parents had to BEG me ta take phone calls. My theory was that I saw you today, I will see you tomorrow nothing can't wait until then. If you have an emergency you shouldn't be calling me. If you are sick, find a doctor. If someone is dead, there isn't a **** thing I can do about it. So, don't call me. And, especially don't call me to just talk. I hate that. If you actually need something I can provide an answer or solution too, fine. Other than that, I don't want bothered.
That said, my mother feels the need to call 4-5 times a day to ask me how I am and what I am doing. Then, when I tell her nothing and I have to go because I have things to do or just don't feel like being tethered to the telephone she gets all upset and whinny about how I am mean and wants to know what is wrong. NOT A **** THING IS WRONG. I have things to do. Not to mention that after you have called me 4 times in one day, I am out of conversation material. Even I can only come up with so much good dialog! I'm sorry that she doesn't feel well. But she is feeling better. I am sorry she is so unhappy. But, she doesn't do anything to remedy that. I am sorry that she is lonely. But, I am not the one who over the last 10 years has shoved every freind and family member away until she is just left with me. But, I am the one who is about to rip the **** phone out of the wall and send it out the window like a big, black, ringing, missle!

Well, I have the opposite problem most of teh time. I am a talker. I think that it has something to do with the fact that we never had a phone when I was growing up, so I overload myself now...lol!!! I can understand your frustration though...because my sister used to do that to me and when you have already talked to someone 4 times in one day....there is NOTHING left to say!!!

You can't screen my mother's calls. Because if you don't answer the home phone, then the cell phone starts. And if you don't answer that, she just starts calling and it keeps ringing and ringing and ringing and ringing and I CAN'T TAKE THAT!!!!!!!

Allow me to first say, that my husband, Sean, is one of the most financially responsible people you would ever meet. Obviously that comes from his line of work. The bills are paid, in excess of their minimal payment the day they arrive. He pays parking tickets the day that he gets them. (ok the day that I get them because he would never not put a quarter in the meter.)
So it drives me nuts that at least once a week we get a collection call for bills that aren't ours. If they were ours, it would be understandable. But thet aren't ours! In Pittsburgh there is my husband, Sean B, and apparenlty there at one time was another Sean Fitzpatrick B who lived in town. The only thing I can say about this guy is that he is a bum! Apparently he has more credit cards than anyone and hasn't paid a cent on any of them. Then, he either moved, changed his phone number, or skipped town. Because in an attempt to find this guy the collection agencies, have taken to just looking up his phone number. Only, his number isn't listed, ours is. So guess what, the bill collectors call us.
So now once a week, I get to talk to bill collectors and try to convice them taht Sean and I don't owe them any money. This sucks for two reasons. First of all, bill collectors aren't the nicest people you will run into and they are really used to being lied to so they just assume that you are lying too. Secondly, I feel nasty talking to them. It is just unsavory to know they are calling my house.
So first, we (usually me) have to convince them they called the wrong house. Usually you just have to repeat it once or twice since they know they are doing a hit or miss thing anyway but looking up numbers in the phone book. But sometimes you get a real jack a$$ who won't stop to listen to you. Then you have to go through a bunch of verifications (Is this your address? What is your mother's maiden name? Are these the last four digits of your ss number? If you have an account with us are these the last four digist of your account number? ect...) It just sucks!
So, Sean Fitzpatrick B if you ever read this...PAY YOUR MOTHER :censored: BILLS!!!!!! I am tired of being harassed because you aren't responsible enough to deal with the problems that you self created!!

So, Sean Fitzpatrick Bannon if you ever read this...PAY YOUR MOTHER :censored: BILLS!!!!!! I am tired of being harassed because you aren't responsible enough to deal with the problems that you self created!!
Eric's aunt Debbie Vinson and his MOTHER Debbie Vinson have the same problem... dear old aunt Debbie has so many cc's she makes charging noises in her sleep (unfortunately she hasn't mastered paying them during waking hours)...the collection agencies call his mom all the time and it infuriates her...she has to go thru the spill "no I am not THE Deborah Vinson you are looking for, but here is HER number..." finally my FMIL got so sick of it she handed her a message in church, in front of her husband (good 'ole uncle Ronnie) and that problem was taken care of...LMAO!
She bought us a set of dishes for the shower...I joked with Eric and asked him if I should stash them in a safe place until she pays the bill...!

Lol Lacey!! my parent's were dealing with similar things before! We kept getting calls for Duncan D______. Um no sorry you've got the wrong number! Then they'd say "Are you sure because this is 'insert government agency or CIA or whatever here!' and we are looking for him!" You aren't harbouring a fugative are you! Um hello, my mom is Joan, my dad is Wayne, my brother is Justin! No Duncans here!! lol. Eventually they stopped calling, they must have caught up to him, but i don't really think that's going to be the case for dear old BAD Sean Bannon!! :) Good luck with that, but I know, you are mighty Lacey and you will let them have it!! :)

So our friends came over last night. It was fun. Our one set of friends had their sitter cancel on them at the last minute so they brought their two little ones with them. Anthony and Nicole are just too cute. Although, they are both terrified of Ruffles, which is odd because she is like a giant stuffed animal 99% of the time. Ellie however, who is in need of doggy valuim and doggy ritalin, they just loved.
Anyway, what I wanted to post about is that our friend, Becky, went to a bridal shower before she came over. It was a middle of the afternoon shower (I believe that it started at 2). It was at the same place Sean and I had our reception. So she gets there expecting this nice shower with a late lunch. They had NO food whatsoever, not even cake and cookies. There was nothing. They only thing they had was an open bar. Now even for me, 2 in the afternoon is a little early to be drinking. I can see having a wine spritzer or mimosa for brunch or maybe a beer at a football game. But these women all had huge martinis and hard liquor. Plus, there was no food, no games, no nothing. Just alcohol. Poor Becky, who was quite the partier in her day, was mortified. To top it off, she had on this adorable Ann Taylor sundress. (I know she got it at Ann Taylor because I tried it on for my bridal shower and opted against it.) She said that she was so under dressed that she was uncomfortable. THe women all had on cocktail dresses and some had on full length gowns. I mean come on people, it is a summer Saturday afternoon bridal shower in Pittsburgh people, not opening night at the Met. At least opening night would have some passed finger foods. we laughed about it all night. Apparently however, if all bridal showers served only martinis and didn't play those games, Sean, Tony, and Bob would like to start going to them. Boys!

I agree, but I think I would have ripped the card off my gift and dropped that off only!! No food?? Come on, if I have one drink without food, I'd be drunk and sicker than a dog I swear! I believe the last time I really drank was a year ago at the wedding and a few tropical drinks on our honey moon! My SIL/MOH dropped the ball on a lot of things for our wedding but she at least made sure there was food at my bridal showers. ;)

Well the All-Star game is in Pittsburgh. Of course my husband got tickets to go with some freinds from work. Which is fine by me. If he didn't have friends from work to go with, than I would have had to have gone and in my mind I have NEVER done anything so horrible to have to sit through the All Star Game and Home Run Derby.
So this means that I have two full days to do NOTHING. I just have a couple loads of laundry. I don't know what to do with my time. I mean the house is clean. The dogs need a bath but I see no point since they are getting groomed at the end of the week. The only thng I have is my stack of summer reading to get on with. I haven't read too much all summer. This is fabulous!

The problem with Sean is that he has everything. We have bar set. He has golf clubs. He has all the regular stuff you get a guy. This is why I hate holidays. Seriously, I'm considering buying the pillows off of our registry that we didn't get just because we need them! I think I am going ot check out watches. He has the same one now for 6 years so he is due for a new one anyway. I got his a pocket watch for our wedding so I feel as if my gifts are getting a bit repetative.

Thank you, Nikki, Karen, and Angel. I am sure he will like it. If not he can go and exchange it for one that he would prefer. To make it even better, Kay's had it on sale for an additional 25% off. So I saved almost $90
I must now tear myself away from you all. I need to get the house picked up, run to the grocery store (I'm out of butter, who the hell runs out of butter?) and Iw ould like to go to Sephora to pick up my eye cream that I have been out of for weeks. All of this MUST be done before 5!

Well, Sean loved his gift. I can't say that his birthday was too exciting. He came home, opened his gift, ate dinner, and then I got hit by a migraine. So he watched Big Brother and I slept until about 9 this morning. Boo!
Tonight though we are going out to dinner at his favorite place, Soba. It is this very nice Pan Asian place over in Shadyside.

Good to hear that Sean liked his b-day gift. I have similar problems when shopping for Matt but I could use Ellen's gift list and get him something he doesn't have. (Like a saddle but alas no horse!! lol)
The furbabies look so cute. I can't wait to get my very own fur baby! :)

So how was Sean's late Birthday dinner?
We had a really nice time. I ate WAY WAY WAY too much. I also discovered that I like mojitos or at least Soba's version there of. We are heading to the grocery store now. Sean is playing poker tonight with some friends so I have the evening to relax. I think I have a Netflicks to watch. Plus, we are having people over for brunch tomorrow so I need to get a few things ready for that.

My mother was supposed to go back to her allergy specialist today to get all of her test results. But, she called and cancelled that appointment because she didn't feel like driving. This is after she tells me that there is no reason for me to come down and take her to the appointment. So, there will be no answers today. She did go to her regular doctor because after almost 2 months she is still sick and running a fever. So he took a bunch of blood but she can't remember what for and he might have said that he wanted to do a CT Scan or maybe an MRI (she can't remember which) because of the weird knots on her arm. I swear her Scarlet O'Hara attitude of it will be better tomorrow if I ginor eit long enough today has just baout run its course with me. I can't stand it, if you want to feel better or get something in life, you have to handel it yourself. You can't just sit back and ignore it or hope that luck falls in your lap!
That said, on a much higher note, I am thinking of getting my Master's Degree. I feel that one can never have too much education. So I looked into some online programs today to see what there is out there for me. I can't wait for all of that mail to start pouring in. I have decided that I am not telling anyone about it until I absolutely have to. I don't want to deal with it if I don't get in or deal with my family's comments about how I always have to be better than them.

I hope your mom realizes how precious her life is and gets her bum to the doctor...stick with her Lacey...I know it's frustrating but you'll have no regrets in the long run.

The only thing I know is that my mil wants to have it on September 23. As for that, I haven't been privy to any details. I'm sure if she needs something she will call. I was going to ask Sean's other sister about the shower the other day when eeryone was over for brunch but Kelly was here the entire time. I didn't know if I was supposed to say anything around her or not. I could just email and ask, but I'm too lazy.

I don't know if refined is the word that I would use to describe me. At least, it isn't one that I have ever heard in decent conversation used about me until now.

Ok apparently I was wrong. My mother didn't have 2 doctors' appointments today, she had 3. She only cancelled the one. She did make it to see a lung/internal disease specialist. Had I known she was going, I would have insisted on going with her. But, she never told me. Anyway, she walks into this little office to see this doctor. He doesn't say a word to her. He just looks over the paperwork she filled out and the chart her family doctor faxed over. After a few minutes he starts asking all these questions, "Do you have this?" "Do you feel this way?" So she answers him as best she can. He gets up, walks across the room and calls his medical partner on the phone. They talk for a few minutes. He comes back, looks as my mother and says, "We think you have mastocytosis."
So what is mastocytosis? It is this incredibly rare (less than 200,000 people suffering from it in the US) disease that causes you to form abnormal cells that cause your body to over produce histamines. This damages your soft tissues, casues skin problems, and just makes you feel generally sick like you are constantly having an allergy attack or sinus infection. It is just a miserable disease. No one knows what causes it or why some poeple get it and others don't. But it would explain why my mother has been sick every day of her life since she was a baby.
She is going to see a specialist Monday. Apparently they LOVE to get their hands on new cases since it is so rare. She will officially get tested and start a treatment program then. Apparently one of the reasons that she has been feeling slightly better the last couple of weeks is that by a flucke her heart doctor changed her medication to one of the ones that are used to treat this disease.
I just can't believe that in little Steubenville, Ohio she found one of the few doctors in the area that had ever seen a case of this before. Otherwise, she would have kept on suffering and probably eventually died from organ failure or infections brought on by it.
Here is the website that explains it a little better than I can. I'm just torn between so much joy and agony right now that I know I am babbeling.

Wow! That is so weird! I'm really glad your mom was finally able to get some answers about what has been causing her to be so sick! I can totally see how you are feeling happy but sad. Happy that there are the answers and she's going to get some help. But sad because it's really not a good thing.
I wish your mom and you the best of luck in getting all the best treatment there is out there! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Take care hun!

Thank you for your kind words. She will never get better. But, she will be more comfortable and have less severe symptoms. The good news is that it can be a relapsing and remitting disease so, there are times where she should be close to normal. They think that the dye from her first hearth cath last year triggered the onset of it and that this last heart cath intensified it to the point that she is very sick.
I just feel guilty that I feel relieved. I'm not happy that she is sick by any means. I feel awful. But, Iam relieved that the question might finally have an answer. In 27 years I have never known my mom to be 100% healthy and feeling well.
