Hello! Im planning a beach wedding also in Daytona Beach in August 2010,

First, try to find a wedding company that offers wedding packages in Myrtle beach. My wedding company offers many things like decorations, photos, video, officiate, etc. They take care of a lot.

You should send plenty of notice to people you invite so that they can save for the trip. You are NOT required to pay for people to travel, however if you can afford it that's fine.

We are paying for a welcome dinner for our 50 guests. I feel this is important as a way to thank our guests for coming.

As far as what to wear, thats up to you, you can go formal or informal... Just try googling beach weddings.

Good Luck!

You and your attendants can wear whatever you want ;)

As for who to invite, that is up to you also. If it is an out of town wedding you may want to send out Save The Dates so that people who will need to make arrangments have time to do so. You should be prepared that some people may not want to travel and may not come if it is too far.

I think the idea of finding someone in the area of where you want to have the event to help you pull things together is a good one.

There are several beach and destination wedding brides here, maybe they can give you other tips :)

We just had our wedding on the beach in Mexico. :) It was AMAZING!!! Our guests wore comfortable "beachy" attire. (Linen, sun dresses, nothing fancy) You are definetely not obligated to pay for your guests. Let me find a picture of our set up for you....:)

As I was surfing for ideas for my sister-in-law, I saw all these great ideas for beach weddings.

DRESS
I would keep it simple and flowy in material. Although you can have a long or short dress, I just think it's easier to move around on the sand with a short dress. I would pick something like the "short tricotone Sophia" from JCREW (I just realized they had a beautiful wedding collection):
I had pictures and URLs ready for you, but I can't post them - sorry! I'll tryto tell you where you can find everything.

Your bridesmaids could have a matching dress in a bold color. I love the aqua color for the beach.

You could have your bridesmaids hold beautiful parasols instead of flowers, if you wanted to do something a little less traditional. Luna Bazaar has a lovely selection of parasols.

There is a beautiful table scape at blog.byyoursideevents that can be found in the Decor Ideas section. It's the last picture, where they used big leaves as part of each place setting. This website has other beautiful inspirations. I had so much fun browsing around.

There are also some adorable flip flops that say "Just Married" on the bottom and leave a print in the sand. You can find them online at BridesVillage. They have a wide selection of other beach accessories/decorations, so check it out.

I know there are a lot more ideas out there, but I hope this helped inspire you to have fun with your wedding planning. It's such a special day - enjoy it!

I am having a beach wedding on block island, RI next august. For the dresses i chose a nice light material. My dress is shorter in the front and gets longer in the back.

Beach weddings are awesome. There are companies that will practically do it all for you, but they charge for the services, understandably.

I'm going to a beach wedding down in South Padre in May, it's the wedding of a friend's daughter. What they are doing is this:

The bride decided to wear a wedding gown with a short train and the groom and groomsmen will wear tuxes with the legs rolled up. The bridesmaids are wearing some adorable sun dresses they found on clearance last fall for $8.99 each and everyone will be barefoot or in flip flops if the sand is too hot, though we doubt that in late May. All that is required in South Padre is that you pick up a form and fill it out in person for a free permit to hold a wedding on the beach, so the bride and her parents are checking into the beach condo just off the beach the wedding is being held on in time to take care of that. Rather than go through a full service company, they decided to just rent chairs and a lovely trellis arch with flowers on the beach. They plan to buy a few pots or baskets of flowers at the local wally world to make the scene prettier. Food will be served on the deck of the condos where they are renting units for close family and the attendants because no one really wants sand in the food! LOL I'll be making fresh fruit arrangements that look like flowers for the celebration because that way they're easy to dip in the chocolate fondue and they'll look great. I'll post pictures afterwards :)

This is not my first beach wedding so a pointer:

someone needs to walk over the wedding site shortly before the wedding while the chairs and things are being set up and determine if the path the wedding party will walk and the area where they will stand needs raked to remove anything that might be uncomfortable to walk upon if you are going barefoot. Even if you are not, someone needs to look the area over to make sure there aren't any surprises like holes for people to twist ankles in.

Basically your wedding can be whatever you want it to be - it should reflect your style and personality. That being said, here are a few tips:

--Make sure you find out the requirements for getting a marriage license and plan accordingly.
--Look for a local vendor who can help you with your plans, or find a local hotel or beach resort that offers wedding packages.
--Keep an eye on the weather and have a back up venue in case of rain (or hurricane!)
--Think about the time of day - usually early morning or late afternoon (about an hour before sunset) are best for lighting and temperature on the beach.
--Get your photographer onboard early-Take advantage of their expertise! They can and should have a say about layout, lighting, location, etc. if you want the best possible pictures, and they may be able to offer references for local vendors.
--Look for ideas and pictures on the internet!
--Most importantly - relax and enjoy! It's your day and you are having a beach wedding because you don't want to be stressed.

Best of luck!

I think "relaxed" beach attire is always nice! Im not talking about not dressing up for the occasion... but looking good doesn't have to mean a black and white event.
As far as paying for out of town guests... that is up to you and if you can afford it and want to then go ahead.
Enjoy your day... and have fun!

I got married in Jamaica and I didnt pay for anyone to come to my wedding. Everyone wore sandals and linen pants/ shorts including the groom. I wore nothing on my feet, it was great!! Ladies wore sundresses and I wore my wedding gown. My close family came 12 people and now 3 months later Im having a celebration party with my whole family and they are wearing beach attire again!! So if you have any questions I just about finished planning my after destination wedding party that will be on Aug 1st 2009.

Beach weeding is one of the adorable setting of weddings. But this will probably cost you a lot. u need to create a good concept to make your visitor feel comfortable with the struck of the sun and can make them pay attention in your vows.. Good luck!

In response to the question from misslinz, “since im getting married at the beach, what should me and my wedding attendants wear...???”

Here is a great blog post to check out! It includes key dos and don’ts on what brides, grooms and wedding party should wear for beach weddings:

Dos:

* Choose strapless, spaghetti straps, halter or wide straps – show some sun-kissed skin!
* Choose natural fabrics like silk or light and flowing fabrics that breathe like chiffons.
* Think about sophisticated, classic and sleek lines.
* Pay attention to the back of your dress – ornate backs, beadwork, open-backs show a little skin and look beautiful in pictures.
* Check out Dessy.com’s Destination Wedding Dress Trend Report http://www.dessy.com/wedding-planner/dress-trends/ or check out their Destination Wedding collection http://www.dessy.com/wedding-dresses/
* Have a bridesmaid or family member practice bustling your dress in advance. Every dress bustles differently, and those darn little eyehooks can be hard to find. Have someone practice bustling your dress a few times and be sure to have them on hand before the first dance to hook you up.

* Kick off your heels. Heels just don’t work on the beach (they don’t work well on lawns either). There are so many options today when it comes to flip flops – from beaded and bejeweled to flips that leave a “just married” imprint in the sand. You can even accessorize your feet with some foot jewelry. Be sure to keep your foot attire in mind when fitting your wedding dress – you’ll want it to not drag on the ground when you are barefoot. Fun idea: Have a beachy spa day with your bridesmaids and treat yourselves to pedicures. The day before your wedding, have them help you paint an exotic Henna stain on your feet. You can get kits and ideas (be sure to practice in advance) here: http://hennatattoo.blogspot.com/search/label/henna%20kit

* Have a second dress. This is a growing trend that we really love. Have a second white, less formal, lighter and more comfortable dress for after the formalities (usually once photos are done following cake cutting). You’ll be cooler and so much more comfortable when you change and it will signal to your guests that the party has really kicked in. True Celebrity-style!

* Make sure your bathing suit matches the line of your dress! There is nothing worse than big bright tan lines on your wedding day! Be sure that the bathing suit you wear on the beach matches the line of your dress. And give that same direction to your bridesmaids!!

* Wear TONS of sunscreen. The sun in the tropics is strong. Tank tops and other shirts can also create those dreaded tan lines, so before your wedding day, be sure to be kind to your skin. Drink lots of water, wear at least a 30spf and reapply, reapply, reapply, reapply. This goes for your groom and wedding party too! Photoshop can fix your photos if there is a mishap, but try to avoid it in the first place!

* Accessorize! A simple and elegant piece of jewelry can really set off your wedding dress. Consider a local piece of jewelry – St Croix is known for its amazing jewelry artisans.

You can incorporate larimar (the azure blue Caribbean stone) for your “something blue”, pearls or other beachy elements. We’ve even had couples exchange “Crucian Bracelets” as part of their wedding ceremony! For apres ceremony, paper parasols will keep the sun off add a little flare to your pics.
