Hello and congratulations! :D
I'd try a hotel in New York City. They have a lot of nice ones, and most have meeting rooms! My cousin's wedding was in the Roman Room at the gorgeous Michelangelo Hotel, and it was AMAZING, though someplace like that is definitely out of my budget!

Having the wedding in December will save you some money, as it's not peak tourist times. How many guests are you planning on having for your wedding? Are you trying to have a wedding on a tight budget, or do you have money to burn?

I'd head north of NYC and find the value and beauty of privacy that also has amazing surrounding things to do - including shopping and sight-seeing.
There's a couple of exclusive, luxury resorts in the Adirondacks (places where the rich and famous go). One is in Lake Placid (back in the day the Olympics were held there) and is called Lake Placid Lodge.
The other one is much more exclusive and doesn't give directions till you book - The Point Resort.
As a lifelong New Yorker, that's just my two cents.

I missed this when it was originally posted back in January, not sure if the original poster is coming back, but in case she does or in case others might be in the same boat ...
You can always check OneWed for local vendors - New York Wedding Vendors (http://www.onewed.com/vendor/search/new-york/rochester-ny/)

The Waldorf, The Pierre Hotel, The Plaza, just about every upscale hotel in Manhattan has facilities and price lists for weddings.

NYC weddings can be so magical, if you nail down the perfect weather, magically. haha I have been to some horrors, when it's raining, there are almost no redeeming qualities, because everything is just gray on gray.
