View Full Version : Best Bridesmaids Ever -- Mine!

This is the very opposite of a rant :) I know we all tend to use the Wedding Frustration section when we have to blow off steam, but the thought occurred to me the other day that I haven't said anything yet about how good my bridesmaids are! So they deserve some public praise for being the best bridesmaids and friends that anybody could wish for.

First of all, they both -- without me having to ask -- are planning on dropping everything the week before the wedding so that they can be there for me 24/7, to help with whatever needs helping. This includes making 300 chocolates and 15 centerpieces, among others.

Then my Deputy MoH informed me recently in no uncertain terms that she wants to lead the decoration crew on the day! So once again, I didn't have to ask :) She wants to decorate, so I'm going to let her.

When I went to go buy my wedding shoes (they're VERY expensive leather lace-up boots that are actually meant for western-style horseback riding but they look very Victorian and have a good 2.5" heel on them, and it's wide so it won't sink into the grass, as well as having all the ankle support ect that I need!) my bridesmaids went with me and immediately fell in love with the boots when they saw them. JUST FOR FUN (I need to emphazise this because those boots are actually *more expensive* than their bridesmaid dresses, by a good $20 or so) I said 'well, ok, if you like them that much just by looking, why don't you actually try them on?'

They did, and even though I said 'No, you don't have to buy them. No, I want you to wear whatever you feel most comfy in, no, wear whatever you want, really, seriously!!!' and meant every word, 'cause none of us are made of money. . . .they BOUGHT THE BOOTS.

So we'll all be wearing the same footwear. But seriously, these boots are awesome. And with floor length dresses it's not like anybody will actually SEE our footwear.

And my Deputy MoH actually *wants* to put her hair in an actual hairstyle (this is a woman who has waist length straight, fine hair without layers, who thinks that putting it in a ponytail at the nape of her neck is haute couture!) and they picked -- without ANY input from me beyond 'pick whatever color you like' -- the color for their bridesmaid dresses that I was hoping all along for, 'cause it's the one that will match my color scheme the best. I can't tell you how thrilled I am about that.

They have been supportive and loyal and wonderful so far throughout this entire process. I couldn't ask for better friends or better bridesmaids!

My MoH is making their necklaces as a gift to both each other and me, she's also willing to play music during the ceremony (she's an amazing pianist, and she's working with a professional violinist who's a friend of mine -- my other friend is donating her services too!), and my Deputy MoH worked with me to design my wedding website and is helping me with all of my graphic design needs free of charge (since that's what she does for a living).

I'm giving massive kudos to my MoH and my Deputy MoH because they deserve it. They're the best!
