What do I love most about the holidays?
The FOOD :) I admit it, I'm a closet foodie and I love the extra-special, once-a-year food that the holidays bring. No matter how tight your budget, you can always find some way to make your food fabulous! Well, ok . . .except for fruitcake.
Equally high up, sharing the spotlight with the food is the decor. I love Christmas lights on houses and so on, I love seeing my mantel over our fireplace hung with our stockings and the evergreens and our Nativity set. I enjoy putting up our Christmas tree and hearing/sharing all the stories behind the ornaments -- that's cool.
And I feel kind of bad for saying this, but I don't enjoy getting together with my family. In some ways my brother and my parents and I all have significantly dysfunctional relationships and I've always thought for years that it would be less painful and dreary to merely exchange presents by mail, the way I know some people do. My experience with my family kind of colored my perceptions and it wasn't until I got to experience Christmas with a family who really cared for one another that I began to realize why people wanted to gather together.
It was startling for me last year to realize that I actually look forward to gathering for Christmas with Fiance's family. There's none of the dysfunction and bad history there, and they show me that family togetherness isn't always bad.
Otherwise, I enjoy giving and receiving presents -- so long as people don't play the games, and give/receive out of a spirit that's not trying to one-up or keep track or whatever.
I'm going to make some sugar cookies tonight! Speaking of food, LOL :)

One of my favorite parts is being able to spend time with family, especially now that I've moved and hardly ever see my parents. But I always enjoyed being able to see my grandparents 'cause we typically see them one to two times a year.
And then I loooove the decorations. I especially love putting up decorations. When I had my own tiny little apartment, I made a day of putting up decorations and lights... I even bought a mini tree from Target, haha. (One of those ones that were $2.50.)
And I have to admit I like the gifts. Both giving and getting gifts. I think I'll enjoy that even more when I have kids.... I was having fun trying to pick out a gift for my fiance's niece until we found out his mom had gotten something for us to give her.
Strangely enough I find I get more excited for it each year as I get older... but when I was in my teens, it wasn't that big of a deal to me.

I love everything about it. This is my first Christmas season as a married woman and a homeowner, so it was exciting for me to decorate our house the way we like it. We also went out to the tree farm and picked our first tree together. I love, love, love to cook.....especially holiday type food.
It's really just a wonderful time of year....the movies, food, togetherness, snow, etc....I like it all!!

I like most everything about it. The only thing I don't like is the pressure to squeeze as much family into one day as possible. My family doesn't do that, but FH's family used to until we stopped that. But yet, every year we get asked are you going to house a, b, c, d..etc. Otherwise, I love holidays! :)

I hear that! I love that we do Christmas eve with one side and Christmas day (or another day) with the other.

My favorite thing is my family gatherings and being with my family for the holidays. I've lost a few relatives in the last 6 years and it just never gets any easier. I'm just glad that I have family to be with and nothing could be better than that. It's also the last year before I get married that Christmas will be this way. I'm going to cherish every moment.

I love decorating, smelling our Christmas tree :) baking, giving gifts, being with family, and watching Christmas movies. Chris' parents will be here tomorrow night! Gotta clean our apartment tomorrow. Chris made cookies last night. He really likes baking. He is making Christmas dinner and he said he doesn't want me to help, lol! He is too cute. I will probably make the deviled eggs, love them!
