There seems to be plenty of talk (around here and otherwise) about budgeting food expenses and eating. Does anybody use www.restaurant.com? Sure eating out is more expensive, but it's a nice treat now and then. We just used a gift certificate from there for the first time tonight and had a very good experience with it. We ended up spending $20 (including tax and tip) on a $45 meal! We have enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow too. :whoohoo:

ETA: Awesome, I just realized that I have an email with a 80% off code - SANTA.

Never heard of it, but looks neat!

We have to get a restaurant gift card for someone; maybe we can use this place and save! TFS!

Oh I should probably add that the gift certificates don't actually cover the whole meal when you use them. Today our certificate was for $25, but in order to use it, we had to spend atleast $35. So we just spent $10 on food that the certificate didn't cover, then another $10 on tax and tip.

Yes, I have given them as gifts before, especially for anniversaries. I think it's great to enjoy a dinner without having to worry about the final bill :)

also, they were giving away 10$ gift cert. when you signed up with them. but like keely said its usually 10$ if you spend 20$.. fh and i used one not to long ago. spent 13.00 including tax and tip and got one meal to split (it was rest. notorious for giving big portions) and each had a soup and he had a soda. i had a house wine (early bird it was only 3.00)

when combining these things with things like earlybirds etc its such an incredible way to save. however, some do restrict using with early birds.
