Did anyone do anything creative or different in lieu of the traditional guest book? I am looking for something fun, we are expecting about 120 guests so we need something to hold quite a few entries... thanks!

We're still trying to decide how we're going to do this part.

Ohhhhhhhhhh I might be able to come up with a unique, personalized keepsake, alternative guest book idea if you were to press me to

I've heard of people getting one of their engagement pictures or a picture they really like blown up quite large and people sign around it and frame it to hang in their house.

I think I've decided to take some of our engagement pictures and making some 12x12 scrapbook pages for guests to sign so I can put that at the end of our wedding scrapbook. You can make pages through shutterfly.com and make a bunch of different pages. I'm planning on making a washed out picture of us, so people can write over the entire page. I'm just not a fan of the traditional guest book because I feel like there are a lot of wasted pages.

We designed a photo book from Shutterfly using our engagement pictures. We left plenty of room for people to write as much as they want.

Guests seemed to like both of the alternative guest book ideas that we did. First, we had guests sign and leave messages to us on quilt blocks.

We also had an engravable photo frame that guests simply signed their names to.

For my great grandparents 70th wedding anniversary last year we signed a quilt with perm. marker for my great gma to quilt. That would be a neat idea. You could do a wall hanging one that is smaller and have someone quilt it. I might see if she would do that for me :)

I designed and ordered my own guest book from picaboo.com. I used our orchid theme and have our names on the front. Rather than having lines for signatures, I had blank pages with a watermark so that people could write notes in it. I love how it turned out!

I've heard of people having polaroid photos (yep - polaroids) taken of their guests as they arrive and then having them write a message on the bottom. These are later put into an album.

These are all really good ideas. I'm going to have to look into them when I start deciding what to have for our guest book!

We're going to Italy for our Honeymoon. Someone gave me the idea of getting a really nice coffee table book about Italy and having people sign that. It's something that would look nicer out around the house than a traditional guestbook. Also, you don't have to do your honeymoon destination. You could pick any topic that has significance for you and your FH.

Maybe :) When I first saw the idea, I thought it was so cool that I started painting them myself.

I'm doing a guest frame. My walls are bare so I thought it'd be a really good idea. http://www.weddingaccessories.net/images/guest_books/2005_guest_book_frame.jpg

We are having a winter wedding with a snowflake theme so we decided to have a basket of paper snowflakes that people can sign/write a message/a wish/whatever and put it in a "wishing bowl". We will then take the snowflakes and make a scrapbook with pictures.

Here are a few quick pics of ours. We included many of our e-pics and then some scenic shots from where we had the e-shoot.

The front. I love that the front has a cutout so you can see the picture on the first page.

We're planning on having guests write messages on small cards and then having them dropped into a giant cognac glass. I'll organize them and put them into a book at a later date. (saw this in a Martha Stewart planning book and loved it!)

Hm..I think I may like this idea instead of doing the scrapbook pages! I like that somebody can write something personal without having everyone read it.

Hello, I am having my guest sign the labels of 5 of our favorite wines. Then on our first 5 wedding anniversaries, we will be able to remember the people that shared in our special day.

We used a starfish platter that everyone signed with paint markers. It was VERY cute! :)

I seen one where they had a large scrap book, they had people sign it and had someone taking pictures of everyone signing it. Then after the wedding they printed the pictures and pasted them beside the persons message.

We just got a new HD Canon Camcorder... so we decided to do something a little different for our guestbook. We're going to do a "digital" guestbook, where we put somebody in charge of our camcorder and have them go around and ask people if they'd like to say anything (or do anything... haha).

We're thinking it might get really funny a few hours into the reception.:) Then, once it's all over, we'll edit the video and put it all together into a slideshow for us to keep!

We had guests write messages to us on river rocks and place them in a crystal vase with our names engraved on it! I don't know why the photographer stuck petals inside, but oh well. This gives you an idea.

I used www.guestbookstore.com, everyone loved the pages and we had some awesome drawings and advice.

You could have everyone sign a big photo mat. I think I will do a wishing jar where people write a message/wish for us on a small note card then put it in a large vase. I heard it is nice to wait a year to read them. Another wedding I went to had people write messages on rocks to be put in the garden.

I'm going to design an engagement photo guestbook - laying out engagement photos with white areas for the guests to sign. I think it's a neat idea and it's something I offer to my clients as well.
