This is the before and we only have this one picture because there wasn't much else to take a pic of.

The room is on the north side of the house and so, it's rather dark to begin with. We knew right away that we had to lighten it up. We didn't like the spindles or the shelf topper either.

We had to get the room ready for my Mom so we got at it about 3 weeks ago. We primed, primed again and then painted and touched up. We changed out the spindles for square and changed out the scrolled topper for a straight board (I plan to paint a live, love, laugh or some other saying on it at some point. I still have to add the knobs to the drawers, put some stuff on the shelves, hang a mirror and decide on the curtains.

So what do you think? How did we do? Would you be comfy here?

Do we hang the white or the green curtains (lying on the bed)?

Comfy is the word! Every picture of your home is always so peaceful and comfy looking. I love it. Great makeover!

My vote goes to the green curtains.

Green. It'll really look nice with the comforter... very "shabby chic"...

Oh it's not shabby chic quite yet ... but I am working on it! :)

I am leaning towards the green too because the white curtains aren't as white as the desk thingy.

How gitchy is this? We have hung a robe behind the door for my Mom & since we have wireless we plan to put the laptop in the bedroom so our guests can check their email.

(Of course if Amanda ever comes to visit, she can log into OW from the comfort of the bedroom  )

OMG....You secretly made this room just for me!!! I know it! How many years has it been since we've talked about meeting up??? 3 maybe.. Well, Now that I have an actual bed at your home it was meant to be!

Ahem...that is....if it hasn't yet been "christened" ;)

Yeah yeah it's Amanda's room but I think DH and I should do the honours before anyone else! LOL

I think I was right though .... the bed is a double but I think we could have fit a queen in there (what's another 6 inches?? LOL). I have another room downstairs ... it might get this double someday and I will get a queen for this room.

Hmmm California in December - not a problem. The temps have got to be better than here ..... BUT you have to come here and paint the last minute orders, decorate my place, buy the last gifts and bake some cookies :)

Seriously, I have nothing done!!!!

This room looks so comfy and cosy! I prefer the green curtains too.

If I ever decide to visit Canada I will surely ask for a night or two :). I have to tell you I loove the bedside table!

Hahaha ... Sure! Do you provide a guest room laptop?

I am big on refurbishing furniture from second hand stores and garage sales - got any there?

Our bedroom still isn't done but there are only so many hours in the day :)

Come on up vicky_vicky! :) The bedside table was my mom's oval folding thing - nothing special. I just found a table cloth to cover it up.

Today, I have been working on getting the basement bedroom ready for my son to visit. I'll post pics of it soon.

This is the bedroom which is off the family room, down our basement. The pics are dark but I was too lazy to do any photoshopping :)

Up until today, this was our catch all room for unopened moving boxes. I haven't unpacked them yet (hey, I am not that ambitious nor, do I have the time to do that yet) but instead I just moved them to one end of the family room.

(a big thank you to my coworker, who wasn't using this bed frame, and gave it to us)

I left some things in the room (the fans and the stuff leaning in the corner) that need to find a different place in our home.

The mac on the desk is on the fritz - the screen is wonky but if you don't mind looking through wavy lines, it's still functional. It was going to cost more to replace the power supply than to buy a new-to-us computer and so, that is what we did. I don't know why we just don't toss it ... I keep saying that we need to get all of our files off it first.

Green curtains, white curtains, no curtains, either way, I'm already getting comfy in that room!!!! :) Looks like you'll be owning a B&B before you know it!!
