I was just curious as to what everyone is going to eat for dinner tonight. Today it's rainy and it's my last day of freedom (summer school starts tomorrow) so I thought it would be a good day for chicken and dumplings. I think chicken and dumplings are good for rainy days and when you need some comfort.

Thanks for reminding me! I've to go and get the pork chops out! We'll probably have bbq pork chops and German potato salad with Lettuce salad on the side.
Last night I made Chicken, fried mushroom, asparagus and hollandaise sauce! It was to die for!! it was so good! I think that some people call that Hunters chicken when you put hollandaise on the chicken with the mushrooms. It was so goooooood! My mouth is watering thinking about it! :)

Buy the fresh stuff, and steam it, or saute it in olive oil and garlic. It's the bomb baby!!!!!

I remember those days. I kindof miss those, not having to cook, though J does alot of the cooking too.

I miss cooking...I can't wait to get married and start cooking for him, I usually fix him cookies once a week to take to work (him and the others on 2nd shift are spoiled to them now) and he gets so excited when I call him and tell him to pick them up on his way to work.

I also miss the days of not having to cook or eat! Now Matt would have a fit if I did that! I stay home all day and don't cook him anything....he'd be choked and I'd be divorced! lol

I tried to do that a few times, but J would take them, and tease the other men w them, and them eat them all himself. THE STINKER

For sides I am cooking green beans-fresh from our garden and mash potatoes. I don't do the box mash potatoes either. I make them myself because it taste so much better! For the dumplings I make homeade roux too! I might decide to make some fried okra (also fresh from the garden) but I don't know. The sky is getting really dark. I hope the electricity doesn't go out while I'm cooking.
Shawna, I've never heard of Hunter's Chicken or even hollandaise sauce.

Well...I had a horrible, horrible day, which I am going to explain fully in my journal after this post, so I sent Joel to pick up some Shrimp Pad Thai at the Thai resturant near us!!!

You should give it a try! Its so good! Its like a butter sauce. Have you ever heard of Eggs Benedict? Thats hollandaise sauce on the top of that. If you do try it, try it on asparagus.

I don't care for asparaus much on it's own. The holindae sause makes the asparagus taste alot better. I still won't eat a whole lot though.

Aspargus rocks but Sean hates it. I can't wait to get home because my farmers market will have started up and I can get all kinds of good stuff there!
Ok so for dinner we are at an all inclusive and I have to say I am WAY disappointed by the food. It really is awful. I know I am food snob but this is ridiculous. And the service is horrible. I know everything is relaxed he but there is no reason to sit at a bar for 15 minutes and not get waited on!
I think tonight we are going for Japanese.

What resort is it, Lacey? Is it Couples or Sandals, or something else?

Well we ended up not having tacos.
I didnt realize we had that much left over from when Brian smoked pork chops and pork ribs Monday. I heated those up. Baked some potatoes in the microwave and made mac & cheese for the kids while we had a salad.

I ended up having bologna and cheese sandwiches, cool ranch doritos and Dr. Pepper...my FSIL closed on her house last week and we are all over there ripping up flooring, painting and doing whatever so they can get ready to move in. Tonight will be the same, I am the designated person to grab sandwich stuff, chips and drinks...hey I may even splurge and throw in a box of Moon Pies or Little Debbie cakes!:bblol:

It is the Sandals Royal Bahamian. When I get home I am writing the company to let them know how bad it was. Two days ago I called housekeeping 3 times to have washclothes show up and they never got here, yet. The floor is dirty. And the food is mediocre at best. Let's not even talk about the service in the restaurants. I have never been to an all inclusive that was this poorly run before. And all that special treatment they offer to honeymooners? I haven't seen it yet. I had to wait two hours for my bags to get her eon Sunday because I wasn't allowed to carry them to the room myself. It is total bs.

Nope I don't like it. I have tried it many times. I don't like the texture of it or the taste. It's really yucky to me. I never get tired of green beans. I eat green beans pretty much every day and I love them! I especially like them fresh from the garden. I go pick em then I cook em.
