So my fiance had two ushers lined up for our wedding, enough of the size, and now we are down to none. His cousin just found out he is possibly not going to be able to make it to the wedding at all, he is in school and working and lives across the country so I am just glad he gave us as much notice as he did. Then the other guy backed out when he found out how much a tux rental costs, which I think is just his excuse for not doing it not the real reason which is why we haven't offered to pay for it. So now we have no one. I am thinking of asking my bother in law, who I know won't want to do it but I think my sister might make him do it. I am not sure what to do about the other one though. I want to just ask the hotel if I could hire some of their staff to be a ushers for the ceremony...they can have a free dinner.

We decided that we would have our groomsmen and dad's do the ushering. After having problems with my MOH, I did NOT want to add anymore people into the mix.

Good luck on finding someone!

A lot of weddings I've been involved in had a couple of the groomen pull double duty as ushers.

Most of the weddings I've been to, the groomsmen do the ushering. We're going to have all our groomsmen do double duty, plus a couple of extras.

I will have to suggest that, hopefully both groomsmen are going to stay in the wedding party. On a positive note I really hated the color vests we picked for the ushers it was this really random bright pink color, it was the least evil color.

For my first wedding I had my two favorite uncles be ushers and had them wear nice sportcoats, nothing too fancy. Having the groomsmen pull double-duty is a good idea, too!
