Well as Ive said in a few posts I stopped taking birth control in Sept and have read nothing but bad things (not here but other boards and such) about how hard it is to get prego after birth control. I hadn't had a real period yet after I stopped either. For about 2 1/2 weeks I had brown spotting which just finally stopped a few days ago. I even called and made a Dr. appointment to see if there was something wrong, I thought for sure my hormones were going crazy, I have also been breaking out pretty bad (Gross!). Well it had been about a 5 weeks or so since I took a test and thought maybe I should so im not the dumb lady at the Dr "Well I haven't had my period in 3 months blah blah" well dummy your pregnant.
Anyways I took the test completly expecting it to be negative and I was still half asleep.. BUT it came up positive!!! I didnt expect it neither did DH I figured it would take longer and my body hadn't started doing its own thing since birth control. Afyer work I went and bought another one, anyone else hate buying them, I always feel like everyone is stareing at me? It was a digital one, I took it as soon as I got home and of coarse it was postive also.
So I called and changed the reason for my Dr. appointment which is on the 22. Now the bad part is since I didnt listen and wait till I got a real period, I have no clue how far I am, I would guess only a few weeks.

Congrats!! :pompom:
trust me I'm right on board with being embarrassed about buying a pg test!! I have no problem with "feminine products" -ok kind of with condoms, but that's why I used to make FH do it!!! I always make it so I'm doing that buying others stuff bit. so it get's lost in the shuffle -but I can see it & I'm sure the checker can too:boggle:

I only buy them at places with U-Scans so no cashier to give me funny looks, and I usually buy something else i can hide it under. I also try to to get it when no one else is in the isle.. Silly I know. Yesterday when I got one they were displayed right in front of the pharmacy desk, so as i quckly grabed one all 4 of the pharmacy people were watching me. It was horrible haha.
Feminine products don't bother me either.

Congratulations to you both!!! :)

Ha! When I started my family there were home pregnancy tests but, they weren't that accurate at all so if one wanted to be REALLY REALLY sure, you had take a pee sample (the first of the morning) into the pharmacist and have them test it. I asked my SIL to come with me because I was so embarrassed to go alone.

Oh WOW I would just have been one of those who never know if they were pregnant, there would be no way I could do that. I would be way too embarrassed.
Tomorrow is the Dr. appointment. I can't wait!! I am hoping everything is ok, I haven't really had many pregnancy symptoms, no sickness etc other than the pos test and sore boobs. I am almost positive I am at least 5 or 6 weeks along, but I could be wrong.

......the doctor had to inject her urine in a rabbit to test and see if she was pregnant. If the rabbit died she was preggers.... i'll take the pregnancy test thanks lol

No no ... I am not as old as that  The pharmacist had the first real pregnancy tests (like there are for home use today). Back then, a blood test was still the only test to be 100% true.
The pharmacy's tests were known to be "more accurate" than the home tests (that were just starting to become available). The home tests were rather hard to read and could give false positives.
Also, you could take the pharmacy test after your first missed period whereas you had to wait longer to use a home test.
When I took the test, the pharmacist said ... "No, you aren't pregnant .... wait ... oh maybe .... maybe ... yes you are. You are pregnant". Needless to say, he didn't inspire a lot of confidence so, I made an appt. with my doctor right away. :)

That reminds me of an episode of M*A*S*H where Hot Lips thinks she's pregnant, and Hawkeye performs a hysterectomy on Radar's rabbit.
Anywho, yeah babies! Can't wait to here how the appointment went.

Well I went to the dr yesterday. I was pretty nervous because sunday night I actually bled a little, like actaul red blood. My blood pressure was a little high, probably due to being nervous.
So the dr injected my urine into a rabbit and .... Just kidding
The dr came in a checked in there and said everything felt ok and I was definitally pregnant. But said they can't do much until the know how far along I am. He told me lots of people have spotting and bleeding when they are pregnant but went on to tell me if I have a miscarraige its for the best because something was wrong with either that egg or sperm blah blah. He said one in four pregnancies do end in miscarraige just because we have bad eggs and sperm. Yet 1 out of 4 puts the odds in my favor.
So they did blood work which I'll find out those results today and they will do it again on friday. Once my beta hcg levels are 2,000 they can do an ultrasound to see how far along I am.

Ok, the urine into the rabbit thing - hilarious!
But, I'm not sure I read your post right - does the doc think something's wrong? I surely hope not - I hope everything works out well!

he dosen't think so but there is always possibility especially when bleeding. I was suposed to hear blood test results today but i havent heard anything yet. I called at 11:30 and the results weren't in yet.

So all my blood work came back ok. 1st time Hcg was 26,000 and 4 days later it was 37,000 I was concernd because I thought it was suposed to double but once it gets that high it takes longer for it to double not just every 2 days. Which makes since because if it kept doubling it would a very high number after about a month. The nurse said those are really good numbers.
But my progesterone came back at 11.3. 11 is the lowest "normal" number. If it is under 15 they give meds to make it higher. So I have been taking those for 6 days now and the spotting has stopped YAY!
I have my first ultrasound to date how far I am on Friday!! I could have done it this past monday but didnt want to take off work. Then I caught a horrible cold and ended up taking off work anyways. sick and pregnant are not fun together. Im tired and feel like poo and can't take any medicine. They wont even give antibiotics during 1st trimester.
Have a happy new year everyone
