Groomsmen - Ties/Gifts

I am unclear what is proper etiquette for the groomsmen. We are having a black tie wedding and I want the groomsmen in tuxes. My fiance wants them to just wear the one they already own (I think all but one guy owns his own tux). I am ok with this but now am usure how to handle ties/vests/shirts. Is it a nice groomsmen gift to buy these things for the men vs. have them rent? If not, can you suggest a sophisticated gift he can give them.

Thanks for welcoming me..this seems like a fun and informative board. Can you offer other groomsmen gifts? I guess it might be strange if we went with simple black to get them tie and vest...I mean if they own a tux won't they alreayd have that?

It depends on how much you want to spend. I don't know if you live near a Things Remembered, but they have a lot of nice gifts for males and females. I have seen people do monogrammed pocket watches, wrist watches, etc. You could get beer mugs, wine glasses, shot glasses. I am sure Things Remembered has a website. I also am going to give you some info from a catalogue that has lots of nice things in it. It is at my house and I am at school right now. I'll check when I get home.
