Hey guys,
This may be in someone's signature, because it happens infrequently and at random times... I go into a page, and get the error that "IE has encountered a problem" and shuts down. It's happening to me at least once a day, and if I log back in, go to the same thread, it happens again, but if I go to a different thread, it doesn't.

Let me make sure I understand what is happening ... there is a certian thread you go to here that somehow shuts down your browser? What thread is it then so I can check it out.
My computer does that on a regular basis. I can never tell when, where or why it's going to happen, but I've narrowed it down to a glitch in IE7 because it happens on both my work computer, my husband's computer at home, and my computer at home.

Yeah I will get errors every now and then and Windows will shut down, but it is usually when I have several windows open.

Nope, it's not in one particular thread. I haven't been paying much attention to which threads it's happening in, but I will let you know when it happens again. It only happens on OW for me, no matter how many windows I have open. And, when it happens and I log back in, go to the same thread (to continue reading it) it happens again. But when I go to a different thread, it doesn't happen.

You were also one of the ones having trouble with threads skipping past the last post, right? Have you tried Firefox instead of IE? I've had more problems with IE and have quit using it.

I don't think IE is the problem unless your browser is set differently; or maybe there is something in your Firewall? I am on IE and not having any of these problems.
I have sent this issue into the tech support people and we will see if there is something they can do.

It just happened in the "Best of OW 2008" nominations thread. Got a few lines into reading the first post, and it did it. Every other thread I've been reading has been fine.

hmmm ... Well I know they made some changes on the rotating ads and thought that would help. I am not seeing anythiing strange in anyone's signature or anything.
I am not sure what the problem is, but I will let them know and see if there is anything else they can do.
It may just be something to do with your browser settings though.

Doubt it. I use four different computers regularly, and it always only happens on OW. Thanks for looking into it!

It's the same for me to a point - it doesn't matter what computer I'm on, if I'm using IE I can open a thread and it'll just shut down on me. It does that on bidz.com if I'm on there for more than like, 20 minutes.

I don't know; I know I am on IE and not having any problems like this, as least not near as frequent. Perhaps your version needs an update or maybe a recent up changed your settings and they need to be changed back ... or maybe some plug-in (like maybe the Google or Yahoo tool bar or something) is part of the problem.
Have you guys viewed the site in another browser and had the same problems?
Well the tech guys are trying to see if they can replicate and pin point the problem and try to fix it.
Brandi, I am not sure if my issue is related. I am pretty sure it's an IE issue - it may just be a windows update issue or something. I have been having the problems since I got IE7. It never did it to me on IE6, and it's not limited to OW for me.

I do know with my website for my ministry I had the same problem. It was crashing IE due to the java script/html code. But it worked fine for other browsers. Once I re-did the html everything was fine, with IE and viewing my site. I think it had to do with the security settings being set to strict on my IE browser, and running the java on the site triggered it to shut down as a precaution/safety matter.
Just a thought/tip/suggestion.
It just did it to me again... I didn't go anywhere on OW, was just shopping around Craigslist - but I did have OW open in another tab.

I do know there is a IE 8 in beta testing you can download. I use it with no problems.

They are working on another attempted fix.
I have IE7 and have had for a while now and have only had some very minimal and sporadic issues.

Ok so apparently it’s an issue on all 4 of my computers, ONLY with OW. Alrighty then…
I’m not going through the hassle of installing/using a new browser just to see if that’s the issue. If the issue happens to be IE on all of the computers I’m using (I don’t get why it’s not happening elsewhere, on other sites) then so be it – there is always a fix, regardless. I just won’t bother reporting it again – cause it always happens to be MY issue, not OW.
Jenna, I installed IE8. I'll let you know if it still happens with the new browser.

No one is saying it is just you, just saying it could be one of many things and trying to figure it out.
The tech people are doing all they can to try and fix it, but sometimes some browsers will cause problems and it is harder to pin point.
