I'm not sure what forum would have been the best for this.
Anyway, I went to see my doctor yesterday because of something that has been happening lately. For about the last three weeks, I have had this light flutter in my chest and my head every once in a while (like every 10 minutes or so). I'm not in any pain or anything, but it's concerning.
So my doctor started asking me a bunch of questions. I'm on anxiety medication (I started it for sleep paralysis, though I think it has generally made me less anxious). There is a history of heart disease in my family so I was sure to tell her that just in case it's related. I told her I've been really tired the last few weeks, with spells where I just lose ALL of my energy.
Know what my diagnosis was??!?! Wedding jitters. Are you kidding me?!
I mean, I know that this sort of stuff happens, and may very well happen to me. But right now I'm 7 months away from the wedding, and it's not really on my mind THAT much. In fact, I feel like everything's been going really easily. I'd say right now I'm like a 2 or 3 on a scale of 10 of how anxious I am about wedding stuff.
Well I told her that I felt like she was downplaying it, so she decided to have me get my blood drawn for a few different things (thyroid problems, anemia, and like 5 others). I feel better. I just couldn't believe she was going to pass it off on wedding jitters and leave it at that.

Thankfully you know your own body better than that :) Sometimes you just have to press your concerns about it and show that you know your body. Hopefully you can find out what is causing this!

I hate it when you’re feeling off and when someone see’s it or you mention it it’s “wedding jitters”.
Ok getting engaged didn’t make me stupid or an invalid.
I had an issue at work and had a bit of a blow up –I was trying to do that “cleanse” thing, but what I didn’t know at the time was that I have high insulin so 5 days into this thing I was having serious issues that were manifesting themselves in emotional breakdowns.
First thing my boss asks me is “Is it because of the wedding?”
No. It’s not the wedding. FH is great. Wedding Plans are great. Something’s wrong with ME.
I got it straightened out of course.

These are some of the symptons I get from Panic Attacks. Mostly I do have a "trigger" that starts them, but sometimes out of nowhere they come up also.
I hope it turns out to be nothing!

Good for you for being an advocate for the most important patient....yourself!
Just because someone is a physician does not mean they are always correct.
I always say that the one who graduated last in their class in med school still has the same title as the one who is at the top.....MD.
Feel better. :)

I agree...good for you for standing up for yourself.
I've had 2 crazy doctors that have changed how much I trust them.
I've had awful menstrual migraines for like 4 years, and after trying a bunch of different medications, my doctor said "I guess you just have to wait until you go through menopause.. then you won't get them anymore." I was 20 years old. REALLY?!?
The other time I went to the dermatologist because I have a ton of moles, and the doctor told me that I had a funny looking mole, but that I shouldn't worry about it because "people don't generally get skin cancer until around age 23." I made him take a biopsy of it anyway.
Sometimes it seems as though doctors have no clue. I've definitely learned to question them.
Hopefully everything turns out okay for you!

Wow. I'm glad you persisted and had her draw blood. That's scary - wedding jitters? Is that a diagnosis she studied in med school? Yikes. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with you, but I'm glad you made her test to make sure.
Hope you feel better...:)

wedding jitters? Is that a diagnosis she studied in med school? :)
Lol, thanks for the laugh :)
And thanks to everyone!! I'm sure it's not a big deal, but I KNOW it's more than just anxiety. And I once had a panic attack when I was like 20, and it's not that either.. Hopefully something will come of the bloodwork (it's almost better when you find out you have SOMETHING because if everything comes out okay and you still have the symptoms, you feel like you're going crazy!).
Thanks again everyone :)

I hope you find out something soon and that it's nothing serious. My thoughts are with you. Take care.

I agree; glad you did not let her just pass it off! Hope it is nothing to worry about, but better safe to check!
All the best :flower:
Ugh, how dumb. :snide: I was having headaches for months prior to the wedding and contributed it to wedding stress. Well, turns out that my vertebrae were moving and pressing on my nerves. I didn't think that I had been that stressed about the wedding!
Well, I hope that it's just wedding stress so that you don't have anything actually wrong with you...but I hope that you do get to the bottom of this!

It's so weird - it hasn't happened since I left the doctors on Friday :-P It was happening like every 10 minutes for 3 weeks and now.. nothing!
Now I feel like I was making a mountain out of a molehill. But I got the bloodwork done anyway, so I guess we'll see what comes of that. I'll be glad if it was just some weird thing happened and then went away. Weird...

Did you check the side effects of your medication. Im in nursing school and doing my pharmacology class and you would be amazed at how many anti anxiey meds have side effects like rapid heartbeat or even panic attacks.some thing to ask about, hope you are feeling better though.

Wedding Jitters? If she comes back with the same diagnosis, I'd get a second opinion. Wishing you the best and sending prayers!
