Hi! Several people have suggested that we use a wedding planner for our wedding. I was wondering if anyone has any opinion either way about using a wedding planner???

I say definitely use a wedding planner. It atleast gives you something to go by so you are not frantic trying to think of everything yourself. Do make sure that you add some of your own plans that may not be in the book, such as traditions, or other before the wedding plan goals you set for yourself. The Knot.com is really good. It gives you a list that you can edit and add your own and you can check them off as you go. It's still nice to have a book too though.
DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN THE POSITION TO GET MORE STRESSED OUT AT THE LAST MINUTE! Use all the resources you can to plan, so you are happy!

Thanks - that sounds like great advice. I was leaning towards having a consultant. :D

I say, save yourself some money and find yourself a family member or friend to help you! I don't think that anyone really needs a wedding consultant, unless you are having a three million dollar, 1000 guest wedding. I enjoy all the stress, it reminds me that I am going to get married and I never have to rely on anyone but myself and my future sister in law. I don't have to worry about someone making my decisions for me and I don't have to worry about calling someone else everytime I want to change something regarding my ceremony or my reception or anything else. I couldn't imagine have someone else take care of my wedding for me, the best part about getting married (other than the day you say I do to the man you love, and become Husband and Wife.) is the planning. Maybe I am just really lucky, but my FH is very involved in the planning of the wedding and that gives us more quality time together, and that way we plan our wedding to both our tastes and know what one another likes and dislikes. Yes, there have been bumps in the road, but nothing that a wedding planner, could have seen coming or stopped from happening. So if they say that they will take all your stress away, I don't think they can take it away when there are family problems, wedding party problems, vendor problems, or anything of the likeness. My fiance and I are planning our own wedding, for about 150+ guests and are having fun doing it. I love phoning vendors and meeting with vendors, it really shows me that this Is My DAY! I wish you the best of luck now and on and after your wedding day!
