So, as most of you are aware, I bought my dress without ever seeing it in real life. Also, I've never tried on ANY wedding dress. Foolish? Possibly. Way out in the future until I find out? Not anymore.

The dress store called and it's in.

Wish me luck - I'm trying to go over there tomorrow morning. Or tonight if I can get away. Yikes...

Yes, measurements were taken. So I hope I'm just worrying for no reason!

I think when you buy a shirt at the Gap off the sale rack for $9.99 you can opt to not try it on without a second thought - when it's an $800 wedding dress it leaves a little anxiety! :) hahahaha!

Update -

Couldn't wait, so I drove across L.A. in rush hour traffic. Ok, here's the verdict - no pics yet - but it FITS! Yay! If anything it's a little big so they're going to take it in just a little bit, hem just a little and add a bustle. Oh, and I love it as much in person as I did on-line.

Especially since you were smarter than me and tried on similar dresses! :) It'll be ok - I was totally apprehensive all the way over there - even called my friend to see if she was possibly home and I could pick her up and take her with me - she wasn't, so I had to go alone - but I was freaking out! I was SO afraid that they were going to help me get it on and I would be too big for it. When I pulled it up and IT was a little too big I felt like the biggest weight had been ripped off my shoulders!
I'm SOOOOOOOO hoping it goes that well for you and you're just in love with your dress. :)

Haha... Well I'm really glad it worked out for you!! Normally they go a little bigger when they order bridal dresses (even bridesmaids dresses) because it's easier to take in than to let out. I just can't wait to see you in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spoke to the lady who is doing the alterations on my dress (they were minimal since it closes via corset) and she said it would be ready for me to pick up - DONE - Friday at 4. I'm super happy about that, seeing as Sunday I'm taking off for DC for 2 weeks to hang out with my very missed family.

So it will be safely in my closet over the holidays. Yippee! I'm going to take some pics when I get it and then I'll make my first attempt at posting photos on OW. :)

my main dress is also a maggie sottero - I LOVE IT, but i don't think i would have ever made a $1300 purchase w/o trying it on first. though, having made that purchase made it easier for me to decide to buy a cheaper (aka knockoff from some factory in china) reception dress online (that whole adventure is in another thread). i'll be trying it on today actually, and i'm going absolutely nuts worrying that it'll be hideous or have a big red stripe going across the midsection. :bbeek:

The dress is pretty in the online picture, but with your hair and eye color, it looks even better. Not everyone looks good in gold (my pale half Italian self certainly doesn't! :P) but WOW that looks fantastic on you. I'm so glad that risk worked out so well for you.

It's a beautiful dress! I love Maggie Sottero dresses! It looks better in person. The online picture doesn't do it justice.
