where I could find -if there even is something like this- sprinkles of a specific color.

I know this seems kind of obvious, but I seem to be missing something here... please excuse the ditzyness

I would say to check any place that would have baking or cake decorating supplies. I don't know what color you want or if you want just colored sugar or a particular type of sprinkles, but I would guess that would give you a good place to start.

I don't know why I didn't think of that. my only excuse is that it's been a loong day.

If it's any consolation, I had to think about it for a while (and for a few minutes I was searching for confetti rather than sprinkles!)

It never even occured to me to use colored sugar and since it's so easy to do it might be something worth looking into!

You could google for sprinkles, jimmies, or hundreds and thousands til you find them, or maybe colored sugar would work? Just place sugar in a plastic bag, add food color in the appropriate colors (no more than perhaps four drop for a big gallon bag to start) then seal and shake. You can try adding perhaps four or five drops more for more vibrant color but be careful you only color the sugar not melt it to goo.
