Deanna and Cortney,

I want to ask you a question about how you used the clasps for your necklaces.

I bought the fold over connectors and used those by putting the ribbon into it and folding over each side. But then when I looked at pictures of yours (I could be wrong) but it looks like yours are rolled over instead of folded.

Like if you turn mine sideways, it's flat with the ribbon in the middle - but yours look round. Are yours really round or is it just the picture? And if they are round, how did you do that??

Id say mine are almost flat. I kept squeezing it. Thinking the harder I did it. The better it would stay on. But this is why I was told to use glue in the connectors. So they would not need to be flat/too tight.

If this helps. Here is the email I got from Monique. She makes them professionally

Hello Deanna,
No worries at all - you have the necklaces 90% done so I would be happy to help you finish them. The way I make my necklaces is without a clasp at all. The end of the ribbon connects to the end of the pearl strand and then the ribbon simply ties to keep it on. I see that you've added a "toggle" clasp, which I'm sure will work fine too. The best way to get the ribbons to hook onto the necklace is with something called a "fold over connector." It looks like you used gold metal for your necklaces, so here is a link to some gold ones that will match:

I will warn you, it's a little tricky getting the ribbon into these, but it gives a very nice, finished look. You'll need 2 of the connector per neckalce, one for each ribbon end. First, put a very small dab of glue on the inside of the connector and let it sit while you do the next steps so it can get a little tacky.
Then, cut the ends of the ribbons so there is a clean, blunt end on each. Then, very carefully (this is where it gets tricky) fold the sides of the ribbon over twice toward the center. You simply need to make it so that the end of the ribbon is very narrow and will fit into the connector, which is really narrow. Then, carefully stick that narrow, folded ribbon end into the center of the connector, holding tightly so the ribbon doesn't unfold and then use some needle nose pliers to fold the sides of the connector over so that they are clamped down onto the ribbon. Then wait for the glue to dry and you can hook the connector ends of the ribbon onto the clasp that you've used for the necklace. Let me know if this makes sense!

And the glue email.
I use special jewelry glue called Hypo GS Cement that you can also buy from that same website, but it's not necessary to have the jewelry glue at all. I wouldn't use the super glue or rubber cement, but the liquid craft glue sounds perfect - I would use that!
Monique :)

Hopes this helps. I want to see pics. I have totally redone mine. After seeing Cortney I went back and bought the good pearl's And charms!

Cortney - I wanted to use the cone ones but I couldn't find any that also had a loop on the end to hook on to the necklaces.

Deanna - that's exactly what I did! I think I'm getting hung up because my connectors look so big (maybe I got bigger ones than you did?). I'll take pictures sometime soon and post to see what you two think :)
