I know this is going to sound completely ridiculous but.....We aren't having a "ring bearer" in our wedding. I always thought the best man held onto the rings? I'm confused on who's supposed to carry the rings, and at what point durring the ceremony do they give them to us? Thanks!

I don't think that's ridiculous. We're not having a ring-bearer; never even considered the idea! Heck, we're not even fully exchanging rings since I'm not getting a wedding band. I'm just giving him his ring in the ceremony!

You decide what works best for you. The best man can certainly carry them and hand them to you/FH when it's tme to exchange.

I really think the ring bearer thing is just another way to get kids in the family involved in the wedding. Certainly not a "necessity" if you don't want one.

Usually the officiate will ask for the rings, so that would be when the BM would give them up ;)

I have a little starfish dish that we are filling with sand to put the rings in, but it just occured to me I have no idea how to incorporate it into the ceremony? Any ideas

I just foun this online (http://www.wedding-garter.com/traditions.htm) -

Wedding rings, continuous with no beginning and no end, symbolised eternal love to the Romans and Egyptians who used precious stones as well as silver and gold and were carried on a cushion. Hence the ring cushion (ring bearer pillow) we have made which carries the precious rings at the ceremony.

The Page boy or Chief Bridesmaid would carry the cushion up the aisle to the Best Man who will place the rings on the cushion ready for the minister to bless.

You could have someone still act as a ringbearer of sorts and walk up the aisle to present the rings in this dish.

Our ringbearer didn't have the actual rings on his pillow. His job was to look cute and walk with the flower girl!

DH's Grandson was Our RB. Although Our male witness had the real rings in His pocket.
Grandson walked in behind Me, handed the cushion over then sat down.

He had two rings i wear on the cushion just incase He decided to throw it. Which i think He did in the end. He was so excited to see Grandad. :)

Not all Brides have RB's. We just wanted to include Grandson in the proceedings.

I think the ring-bearer is just there to look cute. The rings on the pillows are usually fake anyways...

Thanks ladies! Sometimes you OVER-LOOK things that seem so simple! I appreciate your feedback! ;)
