Does anyone know if you can make pumpkin pie ahead of time? I was thinking of making my pie today and either freezing it or putting it in the fridge until Thursday. Has anyone tried this? Does it ruin the taste??
Thanks for your input :chimp:

I think making pies ahead of time is a wonderfull idea. I have known people who do it all the time. I'm sure if you refrigerate it it won't affect the taste at all. as long as you properly store it.. Good luck

You should have no problems storing a pie for a few days. Just make sure you cover it pretty well, especially if your going to freeze it (as to prevent freezer burn). Plus covering it well will also assure that any weird odors in the fridge won't drift into the pie.
Just let it cool at room temp for a bit (couple hours max), cause if you cover it while still hot, the steam that builds up can give you a soggy crust.

It should be fine in the fridge from today until Thursday. Usually when I make pumpkin pie I make enough filling for 2, then use half to make a pie (I only have one pie dish...) and I put the other half in a freezer bag and freeze it. Then I can have pumpkin pie some other time without all the work!

I make my pies ahead of time, this year I am making pumpkin pie and pumpkin cream cheese pie.

I made the cream cheese pie yesterday and the pumpkin today.

Good luck

I think that Pumpkin pie is one of the few pies you CAN make way ahead of time :)

Sounds gross, but I've had a frozen Pumpkin Pie in my freezer for about a year and a half... cooked it the other day and it was still yummy LOL!

Generally, pies with a solid, "custard-like" filling can be refrigerated or frozen just fine. I know, because DH, our resident baker, does that all the time!

Fruit-based pies don't store very well, though.

Yes! You can actually freeze it (uncooked) cook them fresh the day you need them :)
