Are you going to shop on Friday? If so, where are you planning to shop and what are you shopping for?

DH and I are not much for crowds or craziness and since we are really not buying much for Christmas this year, we won't be joining the mayhem at the mall at 4:00 a.m. Instead, I think we are going to drive to the country and go buy a new truck to pull the ToyHauler. I wonder if the Dodge dealer will have any Black Friday specials on 1 Ton Duallys? :bblol:

We're going shopping on Black Friday. Last year we got 3 Seiko watches for really good prices, and I need a watch! lol. I think we're going to be looking for jewelry and a new camera. I HATE the crowd's though! Last year it was so cold!!!

You can bet the Dodge dealer will have deals for you, and I'm sooo jealous :) While I'm a Ford girl, my hubby's dream is a new Cummins Diesel Crew Cab. One of these days we'll make his dream come true :)

As for the crowds - I'll be at work at 5:30am on Friday, and driving straight from work to the trail where we'll be having Thanksgiving dinner with some friends.

One of these years I'll have some $$ saved up specifically for Black Friday

I have never gone out on Black Friday, I hate crowds. I have worked in retail and had to wait tables before during it though; not fun!

DH watches the sales and will sometimes go out if there is something he wants to get.

That is what we are after- The one I have picked out is listed at over $46K MSRP and the internet quote we got was for $31,880- Not too shabby compared to the other dealerships in town. We were hoping to limp along DH's old Chevy for another couple of years, but he is having to replace the rear end for $1200 and needs new tires for $1000 more, and the value of the truck is only $1200 so it just doesn't make sense to put any more money into it. We wouldn't normally go for such a big truck, but the trailer weighs in at 14,000 lbs when loaded so you can't haul it with anything smaller. I'm really afraid if we don't buy now, we won't be able to buy so...Merry Christmas to us!

I definitely won't be going out on Black Friday. People get crazy because of all the sales and act like idiots. I still have to get stocking stuffers, but that's it! Hubby is going to get my gift probably at the last minute...men for ya. We'll do our shopping in December.

We are going up by my parents in upper Michigan. Lets just say there isn't much shopping to be done there, even if I wanted to go. I've always wanted to go shopping on Black Friday, but never got around to it or was never around any stores. Oh well.

Not me, I'll be coming home from my route, and be battling traffic in my 13 ton Peterbilt. Just make sure you stay out of my way, or I may run you over.

I doubt it. I spent so many years working retail and having to be there at the butt-crack of dawn that I tend to avoid it now. I think last year I ventured out with my mother and it was crazy. I like waiting until the extended hours kick in. Around here, starting the second week of December, the malls stay open until 11pm or midnight even on weekdays. You can get a lot done from 9-midnight on a Wednesday! Plus with all the wedding planning, the holidays sort of snuck up on me this year!

I think I'd enjoy it if I had cash in hand and went with my mom or a couple friends, but I know my hubby would hate it. He hates crowds.

There is absolutely NO WAY I'm going shopping on Friday. I would be lucky to go to the grocery store. I don't like shopping on a day when no one else is in the store...but when there are crowds, forget it. Too much work to even be able to get around. And most of the people are cranky!!

I have always had to work on Black Friday and this year will be no different. However, I'm not working in retail this year (thank god!!!), so at least I'm not dreading going to work this year, lol.

Heck no! No way...not going out into that chaos!

Instead, I will sleep in (as late as my 3 year old will let me), and then that afternoon, going to the University of Toledo/Bowling Green Football game/rivalry. :D

As a bargain-hunter I'm tempted to hit up the regular stores for deals on things I need, but I have no drive to do Christmas shopping. The stress and consumerism is absurd to me. I'm torn, though I will likely stay home.

I shop Black Friday online. You can find great deals on the internet, too! Stuff disappears fast, but it's better than beating other customers off your finds and waiting in line for 4+ hours!

I always have to work it. Six years so far. Booo. I can't wait to get out of retail. This should be my last xmas. I keep praying lol. I never get to enjoy the holidays because im always being yelled at, cussed out and pushed and pulled in every direction by customers. Christmas spirit HA. I never get to see it anymore. The only thing that makes me happy is when it is over. I haven't enjoyed xmas since i was a kid. People go crazy over whether or not they have the perfect gift. I don't just mean bummer oh well. People get violent, pushy, and will even run eachother over just to save ten dollars. 0nce Im out, I wont miss it and i will never go back.

Yup I will be headed out shopping, but won't leave until like 8AM, did the early morning thing a couple years ago and it wasn't worth it. I sort of like to go just for the experience, don't really buy much.

OMG I live for Black Friday. I don't think I've ever missed shopping on Black Friday. In high school I always went with my best friend. In college I always took my sister. And now I have a good friend who loves it as much as I do. For me it is the start of the Christmas season. I LOVE it!

We don't have black friday here, but I have done it, one year in Philadelphia with my SIL. It was nuts! It's very similar to the boxing day atmosphere here.

My daughter experienced similar this past weekend. I had an exclusive invite to the L'Oreal/Maybeline warehouse sale and she went with a friend. They reported experiencing a LOT of rude women with sharp elbows but she told me that they learned a trick or two themselves.

I want to! But I have to work:(.

My mom and I usually meet up with my cousin every year and got to a few stores then meet some other family to have breakfast. I love going...I don't know why but I always have fun!

Im going to look at the ads on Thursday and if I find something I will go before work.

I'm just thanking God i'm not working. Even though its a grocery store.. EVERYONE wants to freaking go after their done shopping. Thank goodness.. I'll echo the i hate retail. :D It ruins the holidays.

I'm going with my sister and brother-in-law and it'll be my first time going.
We are going to JCPenney, Goodys, Khols, Dunham's, Lowes...and I'm not sure where else.
I won't be buying anyone anything because I don't have a job or money to spend. But I just wanted to go and see what kind of deals that are out there.

Absolutely not!

Part of my neurological stuff is the fact that I tend to panic when I'm forced to be in a large crowd and I can't get out of it. Something about not having any personal space and the indiscriminate noise just makes me want to flee. And of course, when you're caught up in a crowd, you *can't* flee.

So no busy crowded stores for me, thank you.

I'll go during a weekday in December to do the last of it! Aside from the fact that it's easier on my pocketbook, one of the reasons I shop all year long is to avoid the 'Christmas Rush' by desperate shoppers in the month of Dec and leading up to Christmas. It's so much easier to shop for Christmas presents in August!

Fiance and I will be sorting out our Christmas decor and hopefully decorating a lot of the interior of our house on Friday.

We're probably going to go to a couple stores down the street from us and see if there are any good fake trees on sale. We want to invest in one but may not be able to go after xmas (but still want a good deal). We definitely say no to the 5am shopping though! I love shopping but hate the crowds.

So I just got home from my shopping excursion and I realized again why I LOVE black Friday! Getting a great deal is just like a runner's high for me :-P

This morning I got my dad a spice rack, a package of colored hankies and an mp3 player for $15 total!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (spice rack on clearance for $10, hankies for $5, and the mp3 player was free at Old Navy as a door buster for the first 50 people)

AND I got my future mother in law a $160 peacoat for $30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

I went to a few place a little bit ago, but decided that I'm just going to wait until I get off work and wait til the crowds die down. I figure if it was meant for me to get it, it will still be there. lol.

FH and I will be hitting up one of the many malls here in San Diego:bbeek:
I'm sure it will still be crowded...but I can hope.. :grinhappy:

We went shopping this morning. We had some jewelry picked out from Macy's ad JC Penney's. Luuckily, they are both at the mall, so we didn't have to drive anywhere else. And, one place opened at 4am and the other at 5am. A fried went to Best Buy around midnight and there were already like 40+ people in line. So we decided to see if anybody was at the mall yet...nope! We didn't have to go back until 3am and then it really wasn't even that bad once we got there. We went straight to the jewelry counter and got a 1 carat diamond ring-normally $1879-and a 1 carat diamond journey neclace-normally $1879-for $499 each!!! Then we went to the other store and got a 1 carat pair of earrings-normally $1135- for $299 and a 1 carat necklace for my mil-normally $940- for 249.99. I also got a Seiko watch (with little tiny dimaonds!) for 35% off! We really got some great deals! :) We finally got home around 5:30, so the crowds could have definitely been worse!

We had kind of planned on going to Kohl's this morning. I saw a coat that I really liked that was going to be 60% off. However, when the alarm went off this morning, neither of us felt like getting up that early... so we went back to bed.

I'm hoping the coat will still be around by the time those things go on clearance 'cause it'll be at least 60% off, then.

Hubby and I went to JCPenney Home Store and Macy's. Found a pretty candle for his parents and some kick-*** boots for me! Here they are:

Hubby talked me into haggling the salesperson. I saved 10% on top of the sale price plus 15% from getting a Macy's card account. I feel so proud! :)

My mom and I went out because I needed work pants and this is what we noticed: while there was plenty of shopping, there were a plethora of people without bags. I'd say about 60% of the people we saw, were just hanging out, so this is our hypothesis: because of the economy, people didn't have the money they had in years past. However, they didn't want to give up their shopping tradition, so they ventured out anyway.

It could also mean they did most of their shopping on that day with the deals and won't do much more... but it probably means what you said.
